Maurice Wikoff
Mr. Maurice Wikoff, 77, of Cooperstown, Otsego County, brother of a Canajoharie resident, died Tuesday (February 15, 2000) at Bassett Healthcare.
He was born and educated in Cherry Valley, Otsego County.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II in North Africa.
He was employed for many years in the maintenance department at Cooperstown Elementary School and retired several years ago. He also worked for many years at Earl Chase and Sons and First Baptist Church, Cooperstown.
Mr. Wikoff was a longtime member of the Doubleday Dancers.
Survivors include his former wife, the former Cora Mumford, whom he married on June 30, 1945; three daughters, Donna Bailey of Cooperstown, Dawn Wikoff of Mount Claire, Calif. and Lori Vitacore of Clyde, Wayne County; three sons, Terry Wikoff of Copperstown, Mark Wikoff of St. Louis, Mo. and Kim Wikoff of Hartwick, Otsego County; one sister, Natalie Countryman of Canajoharie; two brothers, Walter Wikoff and Dean Wikoff, both of Cherry Valley; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
There will be no calling hours. A remembrance service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Cooperstown. Cremation will take place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley. Spring burial will take place in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Eva R. Mount
Ms. Eva R. Mount, 67, of Francis Street, Gloversville, N.Y., died Saturday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a short illness.
Born in Fultonville, N.Y., on July 30, 1934, she was the daughter of Donald W. and Mildred Cook Mount. She was a graduate of Fultonville High School, and in later years continued her education at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Ms. Mount lived in Fultonville until 1969, when she moved to Johnstown, N.Y., and later Gloversville.
She was employed by the former Johnstown Knit Co. for a number of years.
In her early years, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and also was affiliated with forming the Fultonville Drum Corp. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Ms. Mount was a former member of the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Aime (Vaughn) Barnett, and her son-in-law, William Barnett Jr. of Gloversville; one granddaughter, Brittney Hofmann; sisters and brothers, Betty Craver of Gloversville, Marilyn Anderson of Fultonville, Richard Mount of Sprakers, N.Y., and Arthur Mount of Fonda, N.Y. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Ms. Mount was also a loving foster grandmother to many children of close friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Irving Mount of Canajoharie, N.Y.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, N.Y. The burial of cremains will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Carroll Hauser Ioele
Mrs. Carroll Hauser Ioele, 67, of Gloversville, died Friday, Aug. 31, at Albany Medical Center following a long illness.
Mrs. Ioele was born on June 9, 1934, in Hensonville, the daughter of Albert and Marion VanLoan Hauser. She was a graduate of Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School in Windham, N.Y., and received an A.S. degree in dental hygiene from the New York City Community College of Applied Arts and Sciences.
Her early employment as a dental hygienist included an office in Rochester, N.Y., and the Cobleskill Central School System. After her children began Gloversville schools, Mrs. Ioele returned to work for a short time in the office of Dr. Joseph Berg. She worked for 28 years with Dr. Ronald E. Berghoff. She also was employed at the office of Dr. Frank J. Salino for over 20 years and subsequently with Cotugno Associates.
Mrs. Ioele was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Pine Brook Golf Club, Fulton County Republican Club and New York State Dental Hygienists Association. She was past president of Soroptimist of Fulton County, past president of the former Junior Chamber of Commerce of Fulton County (Jaycees), and of the Schoharie County Junior Chamber of Commerce.
On July 6, 1957, she was married to Francis A. "Frank" Ioele, who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Christine I. McCann of Blacksburg, Va., and Sarah Jane Oliver of Syracuse; sons David J. Ioele and Michael F. Ioele, both of Gloversville, and Andrew J. Ioele of Vail, Colo.; sisters B. Joan Buoniconto of Round Top, N.Y., and Dunedin, Fla., and A. Paula Scott of Fort Myers, Fla., and Windham, N.Y.; grandsons Adam Ioele, Christopher Ioele and David J. Ioele Jr.; and granddaughter Meredith Windham McCann; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. The Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Sean M. Higgins
Sean M. Higgins, 40, of Whitmore Avenue, Johnstown, died Friday from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born Nov. 23, 1961, in Chapel Hill, N.C., he was the son of Albert C. and Anne N. Nicols Higgins.
He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1979 and then attended LeMoyne College in Syracuse.
Mr. Higgins became an officer for the Johnstown Police Department on March 18, 1985. He was appointed sergeant Dec. 27, 1999. He also operated his own business, LegalPro Process Service, which he started 12 years ago.
He was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and the PBA. Sean was a motorcycle enthusiast.
He was married to Ann Knight on March 12, 1994, in Johnstown.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Knight Higgins of Johnstown; two daughters, Nicole Higgins of Johnstown and Brittany Higgins of Johnstown; three step-daughters, Janine Sala of Johnstown, Jill Sala of Massachusetts and Noelle Sala of Johnstown; his parents, Albert C. and Anne Nichols Higgins of Johnstown; four sisters, Brigitte Higgins-Havlicek of Johnstown, Jessica Catlin of Boulder, Colo., Alexandra Higgins Henderson of Gloversville and Martha Higgins of Bethesda, Md.; maternal grandmother, Marienne Nichols of Montclair, N.J.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Johnstown Reformed Church in Johnstown, with the Rev. Jack Millard, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Johnstown Reformed Church.

Concetta Catarelli
Mrs. Concetta Catarelli, 78, of Tillboro Road, Ephratah, died Monday, Sept. 3, at home after a long illness.
She was born on July 1, 1923 in Brooklyn. Mrs. Catarelli moved to Ephratah in 1986.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Wayne Schick, with whom she resided; one son, Charles Catarelli of Florida; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Catarelli was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore Catarelli, who died in 1970.
Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. R.W. Richard C. Jackson Sr.
Mr. Richard "Fuzzy" C. Jackson Sr., 57, of High Street, Eatonton, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 1, at home after a long illness.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1943 in Gloversville. Mr. Jackson moved to Georgia in 1991.
He was employed with several local construction companies and for a time was employed with a tree service in Georgia.
Mr. Jackson was a former member of Johnstown Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Stefanski Jackson, whom he married on April 1992; two sons, Richard C. Jackson Jr. and Robert L. DiMartino, both of Broadalbin; his mother, Catherine M. Jackson of Johnstown; three stepsons, Joseph Beekman of Mansfield, Ga., Andrew and Justin Beekman, both of Johnstown; two stepdaughters, Georgeann Beekman of Johnstown and Robin Beekman of Eatonton, Ga.; four brothers, John W. Jackson of Rockwood, Douglas Jackson of Bedford, Ind., Timothy Jackson of Fort Plain and Thomas Jackson of Dolgeville; three sisters, Rosemary Hatch of Northville, Deanna Prill of Johnstown and Darlene Pollock of Fort Plain; 10 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Clarence Jackson, who died in 1989; and his sister, Beverly Swart, who died in 1998.

Essie Lazarus
Essie Lazarus, 90, formerly of Gloversville, died Monday at Wellington Regional Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla.
She was born on July 14, 1911 in Newark, N.J., the daughter of Samuel and Celia Nisenbaum. Mrs. Lazarus graduated from Gloversville High School and lived in the Gloversville area most of her life. She later moved to Lakeworth, Fla., where she resided at the time of her death.
She was a member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue; Hadassah; Jewish Community Center; Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary, all Gloversville, and the Organization for Rehabilitation Through Training.
She is survived by one beloved son, Alan Lazarus of Cincinnati, Ohio; one beloved daughter, Joan Reische of Manchester, N.H.; four beloved grandchildren; three beloved great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Lazarus, who she married on July 2, 1933 and who died on April 16, 1976; and one brother, Barney Niesen.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville. Rabbi Martin Gordon will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Knesseth Israel Synagogue. Arrangements are by Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
