Helen P. Brown, 80, of Gilson Road, Jaffrey, N.H., died Sunday July 29, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1921 in West Chester, Pa., the daughter of the late Jere and Amy (Pusey) Powell. She was a 1938 graduate of George School at Newtown, Pa. and also a 1941 graduate of Colby Junior College in New London, N.H. She previously lived in Broadalbin and had been a resident of Jaffrey since 1993.
In 1959 she earned her private pilot's license.
Mrs. Brown was active in the Girl Scouts in Broadalbin for many years. She was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross and also for the Jaffrey Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce, Jaffrey Historical Society and was corresponding secretary for the Jaffrey Center Village Improvement Society.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Millard L. Brown of Jaffrey; two daughters, Mary L. Hicks of Frank Town, Colo. and Amy P. Brown of Cornwall, Vt.; two sons, Millard D. Brown II of Alfretta, Ga. and Jere W. Brown of Camdenton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Lewis Powell of West Grove, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Brown's request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jaffrey Center Village Improvement Society, PO Box 722, Jaffrey, NH 03452&emdash;0722. Arrangements are by Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River St., Jaffrey. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Brenda Mae Chapin

Miss Brenda Mae Chapin, 41, of Wells Street, Gloversville, died Sunday, July 29, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, after she was suddenly stricken.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1960 in Framingham, Mass., the daughter of Richard and Dorothy Corliss Chapin. She moved to Gloversville from Framingham one year ago.
At the time of her death she was employed as a food service worker by the Gloversville Enlarged School District at Gloversville High School and the Gloversville Middle School.
She was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her companion, Paul R. Hill of Gloversville; a daughter, Janine Mae Starr of Gloversville; her father, Richard L. Chapin of Gloversville; four brothers, Richard L. Chapin Jr. of Clayton, N.C., Gary William Chapin of North Grafton, Mass., Barry E. Chapin Sr. of Gloversville, and David James Chapin Sr. of Framingham. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Ruby Smith will officiate. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12205.
Dona Gray

Dona Gray, 82, of Gloversville, died early today at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1918 in Gloversville, the daughter of James L. and Chloe Benson Steele. She graduated from Gloversville High School and was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed as manager at The Glove Theater from 1957 until it closed. She later was manager of Vail Mills Drive In from 1967 until it closed in 1989 when she retired.
She was of the Baptist faith; a member of the Gloversville Women of the Moose and served as its senior regent for a period of two years; a member of the Fulton County Republican Club and a member of the former Gloversville Elks Lodge.
Survivors include one son, James L. Gray of Gloversville; one daughter, Mrs. Dona Lee Fremmer of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Jeannine Spraker, Lawrence Gray and James Gray Jr., all of Gloversville, and Christine Maye of Asheboro, N.C.; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard B. Gray, whom she married on June 12, 1937 and he died in 1991.
The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at noon Thursday. The Rev. R.W. Williams will officiate. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sharon A. Hotaling, 49, of Broadalbin, died Sunday, July 29, at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
She was born in Albany and was a 1970 graduate of Mechanicville High School. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was a secretary for the New York State Department of Social Services and last was a secretary with the New York State Department of Transportation for a combined total of 22 years.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Thomas E. Hotaling; one daughter, Melissa A. Hotaling of Broadalbin; her mother, Betty Cicchelli of Broadalbin; one brother, Russell J. DiNisio of Clifton Park; three sisters, Tina Cinguegrano of Ballston Spa, Deborah A. Fruci of Mechanicville and Lisa Boehm of Broadalbin; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, James P. Cicchelli.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, where funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Thursday. A Mass will follow at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Schenectady. Interment will take place at St. Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam. The family would prefer memorial donations be made to Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 23, Broadalbin, NY 12025.

Mrs. Mary A. Vadney Trendell, 67, town of Charleston, died Sunday at home.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Langan Funeral Home, 227 Main St., Schoharie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Schoharie. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
Edith Dean Waterman

Mrs. Edith Dean Waterman, 72, of Hillcrest Spring Adult Home, Amsterdam, died Sunday, July 29, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam following a long illness.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1929 in Gloversville, the daughter of Marion and Myrtle McDougall Dean. She lived most of her life in Caroga Lake.
Mrs. Waterman was employed at Johnstown Knitting Co. until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, Maryann Jensen of Amsterdam, Barbara Fetter of Mariaville Lake, N.Y. and Jane Cirillo of Gloversville; a son, William Andrews of Gloversville; a brother, Marion Dean Jr. of Gloversville, a stepbrother, Michael "Happy" Dean of Fort Plain; a stepsister, Cecelia Jones of Florida; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her first husband, William "Buster" Andrews resides in Gloversville. She was predeceased by her husbands, Anthony Bendino, Homer "Mike" Cole Jr. and Cyril "Red" Waterman.
There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078, or the Fulton County SPCA, 486 Stevers Mills Road, Broadalbin, NY 12025. A private funeral service will take place at the convenience of the family Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc. Gloversville. The Rev. R.W. Williams will officiate.
Paul C. Querbes

Mr. Paul C. Querbes, 80, of Gloversville, died Sunday at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville.
He was born on March 4, 1920, in Montreal, Canada, the son of Joseph and Pauline Gilbert Querbes. Mr. Querbes moved to Gloversville as a small child. He graduated from Gloversville High School, where he played basketball.
He served in the Army during World War II. He began his career as an apprentice glove cutter at the former Myers Glove Co., Gloversville.
He then was a bookkeeper in the freight department at the former FG & J Railroad.
He retired in 1990 after 30 years as a building superintendent of the Gloversville YMCA.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ila Jean Graff, whom he married on July 5, 1976; one son, James Querbes of Greenfield Center, Saratoga County; one daughter, Paulette Lizotte of Liverpool, Onondaga County; one sister, Madeliene Dunham of Gloversville; one brother, Joseph Querbes of Gloversville; one stepson, Dale Klock of Gloversville; two stepdaughters, Linda Howland of Gloversville and Charlene Milniekiewecz of Fly Creek, Otsego County; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his twin sister, Marguerite Hoose, and one brother, Eugene Querbes, who was killed during World War II.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville. A prayer service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville.
The Rev. David Tressic, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown, in the spring.
