Robert G. Junquera
January 9, 2001

Mr. Robert G. Junquera, 68, of Northampton, former 4th District committeeman and town councilman, died Sunday at home after a long illness. He was born on May 17, 1932, in Northampton, the son of Henry and Anna Chartier Junquera. Mr. Junquera was a graduate of Northville Central School and attended Union College. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957 as a machinist on the USS Leyte. He worked as a carpenter at the former Ray Benson Carpentry, Northville, and later participated in the toolmakers apprentice program at General Electric Co., Schenectady. After the service he returned to GE and worked until 1958. He then was a partner with his brother in Junquera Brothers Water Well Drilling, Northville. He was a town of Northampton 4th District committeeman for several years and a town councilman for 16 years. He was also active in the formation of Main Street Doctors Building, Northville. Mr. Junquera was a communicant of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for several years. Survivors include his wife, the former Marlene Gifford, whom he married in April 1958; two sons, Michael Junquera of Northampton and Steven Junquera of Scotia; his mother of Northampton; one brother, Sidney Junquera of Northville; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville, where the Rosary Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Northville. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.

Wallace Richard Davis

Mr. Wallace Richard Davis, 77, of Perth, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was the son of Richard and Theresa Cohn Davis and was raised by his foster parents, William and Mary Farley. Mr. Davis was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Amsterdam High School. He was employed as a crane operator for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady and was a former justice of the peace in the town of Perth. He was a member of the board of directors of the Safety and Highway Committee in Fulton County. Mr. Davis was a member of the Perth Republican Club and the Broadalbin VFW. He also worked with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Fonda and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Mr. Davis attended Union College, St. Lawrence University and Albany Law School for his town justice training. Survivors include his wife, the former Sarah Eileen Gottung, whom he married on Oct. 8, 1947; two daughters, Barbara Davis of Amsterdam and Patricia A. Davis of Perth; five sisters, Wynne Coffee of Scotia, Emma Jean Miller of Johnstown, Helen Oaksford of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Doris Giovanni of Amsterdam, and Katherine Depa of Waynesboro, Va. Two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews also survive. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, with the Rev. William E. Siis officiating. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring.

Bruce Harold Dunham

Mr. Bruce Harold Dunham, 65, of Gloversville, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness. He was born on Nov. 23, 1935, in Gloversville, the son of Harold and Gladys Dibble Dunham. Mr. Dunham was a graduate of Gloversville High School. He served in the Air Force for a short time. He was employed for many years at Lee Dying Co. and then worked for 20 years as a leather worker at JBF Industries, Gloversville. Mr. Dunham was a member of Fremont Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville. Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Johnson, whom he married on Sept. 12, 1959; two daughters, Robin L. Burkart of Mayfield and Renee H.G. Gardner of Gloversville; one son, Bruce H. Dunham of Gloversville; one brother, Jack Dunham of Gloversville; three sisters, Beverly Spraker, Marion Lehr and Betty Hine, all of Gloversville; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, Dale E. Dunham; one granddaughter, Tara Marie Giardino; and two sisters, Barbara Kudernatch and Margaret Peggy Colby. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Lathrop, associate pastor of Fremont Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Frank J. Koscinski

Mr. Frank J. Koscinski, 85, formerly of Amsterdam, died Tuesday at Hallmark Nursing Centre, Rotterdam, where he had resided since 1999. He was born on Dec. 26, 1915 in Amsterdam, the son of Frank and Teofila Kosiba Koscinski. Mr. Koscinski was educated in area schools and was a lifelong area resident. He served in the Army during World War II. He was first employed at the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co. and later worked for Consolidated Novelty Co. before he retired. Mr. Koscinski was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam, and area pigeon racing clubs. He is survived by two sisters, Bernice Jedrzejewski and Clare Hughes, both of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Heddy Lech, who died on Feb. 8, 1979. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam. A service will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At 9 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Marie A. Lasher

Mrs. Marie A. Lasher, 65, of Fort Plain, died Monday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 3, 1935 in Gloversville, the daughter of Francis A. and Alta Mosher Looman. Mrs. Lasher was a 1953 graduate of Fort Plain High School and graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a lifelong area resident. She was employed for 31 years as a fourth-grade teacher for St. Johnsville Central School, retiring in 1992. She worked as an office clerk at Cherry Valley Memorials, Gloversville, at the time of her death. Mrs. Lasher was a member of United Methodist Church, Fort Plain; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and the New York State Retired Teacher's Association. She was past president of the Upper Montgomery Retired Teacher's Association and held office at state and local levels. Survivors include her husband, Paul W. Lasher, whom she married on Nov. 24, 1956; two daughters, Dr. Sharon A. Hulbert of Elsberry, Mo. and Lorraine G. Horton of Fort Plain; three sons, Keith P. Lasher of West Chester, Pa., Fred K. Lasher of Nelliston and Scott G. Lasher of Mineola, Texas; one sister, Lillian Looman of Park City, Utah; five brothers, Carl Looman of Pflugeville, Texas, Benjamin Looman of Olmito, Texas, Floyd Looman of Scotia, Robert Looman of Venetia, Pa. and Paul Looman of Gloversville; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by one brother, David Looman, who died in 1982; and one granddaughter, Tanya Ann Hulbert, who died in 1987. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 Thursday at Gray-Houghtaling Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kenneth Dingman, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Plain, will officiate. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring.

Marilyn J. Mathewson

Marilyn J. Mathewson, 68, formerly of Glen, died Tuesday at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, after a long illness. She was born on May 23, 1932 in Schenectady and attended Amsterdam schools. She was co-owner of the family farm in Glen for many years and retired in 1979 due to ill health. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the Pomona Grange and the Glen Grange. Survivors include one son, Douglas E. Mathewson of Broadalbin; three daughters, Charlene Fonda of Glen; Cathy Visscher of Fort Johnson and Lori Mathewson of Sprakers; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be private. A service will be conducted at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, at the convenience of the family. A legacy candle ceremony service will be conducted at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Jennifer Lee Mosher

Jennifer Lee Mosher, the daughter of Mark L. Mosher and Kristin Lee Travis, both of Gloversville, was stillborn Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Survivors besides her parents are paternal grandparents, Arthur and Alvina Mosher of Gloversville; paternal great-grandmothers, Orvetta Mosher and Edna Van Slyke of Gloversville; maternal grandparents, Michael and Sharon Thomas of Gloversville; maternal great-grandfather, Raymond Rogers of Gloversville; maternal great-great-grandparents, Arthur and Myrtle Beyer of Gloversville; one cousin; several aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by a great-grandmother, Marilyn Rogers. Arrangements are by Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville. A private graveside service will be conducted Thursday in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Dr. Alan C. Rhodes, pastor of North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville, will officiate.
