Robert J. De Luke

Mr. Robert J. De Luke, 78, of Sacandaga Road, Scotia, died Thursday afternoon at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. De Luke was born and educated in Schenectady, attending Nott Terrace High School. Mr. De Luke served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. De Luke worked in the family business De Luke Realty on Clinton and State streets in Schenectady, where he was a licensed real estate broker for many years. Mr. De Luke owned Mother Ferro's Restaurant on Barrett Street for several years. Mr. De Luke was a partner with his brother in De Luke Ready Mix and De Luke Sand and Gravel in Scotia for over 25 years. Mr. De Luke was a homebuilder and contractor for over five years. Mr. De Luke worked for New York State Division of Equalization and Assessment on State Street in Albany for several years. He also operated De Luke Appraisal business in Scotia for five years before he retired.
Mr. De Luke was past Schenectady County chairman of the Conservative Party.
Mr. De Luke was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Scotia, and was involved in the construction of their former school. Mr. De Luke was past president and former coach of the Beukenendaal Baseball League. In 1967, Mr. De Luke was a founder of Scotia Connie Mack Baseball League. A longtime member of Schenectady Board of Realtors.
Mr. De Luke was a founder of St. Michael's Chapel in Glenmont and a communicant of St. Pius the X Church in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Mr. De Luke was the husband of the late Audrie Bedford De Luke whom he married on April 15, 1950 and who died Jan. 4, 1999.
Survivors include his four sons, Mark and Keith De Luke, both of Scotia; R.J. De Luke Jr. of Saratoga Springs and Matthew De Luke of Wake Forest, N.C.; three daughters, Maureen De Luke of Saratoga, Janice Lindsay of Scotia and Donna De Luke of Saratoga Springs. Also survived by 13 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at North Jay streets, Schenectady. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and then to St. Peter's Church, Fifth and Hutton streets, Troy, where a Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial fund at St. Pius the X Church, 100 Boulevard, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
Maria A. De Paola

Mrs. Maria A. De Paola, 92, of Gloversville, died Friday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
She was born on March 25, 1909 in Little Falls, N.Y., the daughter of Michael A. and Filomena Salina Nunno. She moved to Italy at the age of 5. In 1938 she moved to the Bronx, N.Y. and in 1960 to Queens, N.Y. before settling in Gloversville in 1975.
A housewife, Mrs. De Paola, was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church.
Survived by one daughter, Lena De Paola of Gloversville; a brother, Pasquale Nunno of Gloversville; a sister, Margherita Nunno of Gloversville; four grandchildren; nieces and a nephew. On April 21, 1931, she married Rocco De Paola, who died in 1988.
Viewing hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Amico Funeral Home, 150 S. Main St., Gloversville A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.
Gladys Colvin Mason

Mrs. Gladys Colvin Mason, 94 of Snow Road, "Horton Hill", Town of Day, died Friday evening at the home of her son following a long illness.
She was born in West Day, N.Y., on April 3, 1907. She was the daughter of Henry Albert and Della Elizabeth Horton Colvin. Mrs. Mason attended the first eight grades in rural schools and graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1926. She graduated from Oneonta Normal School in 1932 and received her B.S. degree from the State University of New York College at Oneonta in 1952.
She taught for 37 years in the towns of Hartford, Hadley and Edinburg (Fox Hill) and the last 17 years at Northville Central School. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Northville and a member of the steadfast class. She also was the historian and a member of Juanita Chapter O.E.S. for 40 years.
She married George Henry Mason on June 28, 1941. He passed away in 1992. Survivors include one son, Kearney L. Mason and wife Dale of Hadley; one half-brother, Donald Colvin of Vermont; one sister-in-law, Pearl Colvin of Gloversville; one cousin, Maeona Tompkins of Queensbury; four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Winnona Mickittrick and three brothers; William Horton Colvin, Henry Colvin Jr. and Donald Colvin.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Northville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery.
Florence Hunter Craig

Florence Hunter Craig, 107, of Fayville Road, Barkersville, N.Y., at Wells House, Johnstown, N.Y., where she had been a resident.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1894 in Providence, N.Y. She had resided there for her complete life.
Mrs. Craig taught in various district one-room schools from 1913 until 1949.
She was a member and treasurer of the Barkersville Christian Church for 60 years. Mrs. Craig was an election commissioner for the town of Providence for 60 years.
Survivors include three nephews and cousins. She was married to the late Percy Craig (1924 -1986).

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkersville Christian Church, Barkersville Road, Middlegrove, N.Y. The service shall be conducted by the Rev. Pat Atwell, pastor of Barkersville Christian Church, and a nephew, Terry Sutfin, chaplain of the VA Hospital, Bath, N.Y. Interment immediately following the service at the Barkersville Cemetery. John H. Male Jr.

John H. Male Jr., 76, of Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away early Sunday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1925 in Amsterdam, a son of John H. Sr. and Gertrude Astel Male. He was a lifelong resident, attending local schools.
He was employed for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. for a time, and later for 35 years for the Spentenbush Towing Co. out of New York City, where he worked on tugboats for the Merchant Marines. He retired in 1987.
During World War II, he served with the Navy as a sonarman third class.
Mr. Male was of the Episcopal faith.
He married the former June T. Conley on May 30, 1946. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children: Sons, John H. (Jack) Male III of Alpharetta, Ga., Richard T. Male of Narragansett R.I., and Ronald E. Male of Broadalbin; his daughters, June M. Siegenthaler of Johnstown, Donna L. McNamara of Hagaman, Kathleen P. McMartin of Amsterdam and Tammy L. Dwyer of Gloversville. Eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Male in 1960.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam in care of the funeral home.
