Anthony Cieply, 91, of 228 Hatzenbuhler Road, Broadalbin, died Tuesday
afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born in the Ukraine on Oct. 16, 1904, he was the son of William and
Catharine Cieply and came to the United States in 1930, settling in New
York. He had resided in Broadalbin for the past 65 years.
Mr. Cieply was employed at the former Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam,
retiring in 1956.
He was a member of the former St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church
in Union Mills.
He was married to the former Mary Wojtna on Feb. 3, 1931. She died on
June 19, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Cieply of Amsterdam and Frank Cieply
of Broadalbin; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Union
Mills Cemetery with the Rev. Patricia A. Bush officiating.
A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance
Corps.

St., Broadalbin.
Anne Bulinski
Mrs. Anne M. Bulinski, 73, of Mucky Run Road, Frankfort, died Monday
at home.
Born Sept. 18, 1923, in Myjaba, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter
of Daniel and Anne Stefunek Margetiak. She came to the United States as
a child in 1930. She attended New York City schools and graduated in 1945
from the Bellevue School of Nursing.
She was employed as a registered nurse for Homer Folks Tuberculosis
Center, Oneonta, and later by Griffis Air Force Base, Rome, retiring in
1988 after 23 years of service.
Mrs. Bulinski was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church and a life member
of the Alumnae Association of the Bellevue School of Nursing.
She married Walter Bulinski on Feb. 10, 1978 in Frankfort.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Stephen Cernak
of Broadalbin; a sister, Elizabeth Rovenski; Fairlawn, N.J.; six grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the V.J. Iocovozzi
Funeral Home Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, with the Rev. David Blank
officiating. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Whitesboro.

Virginia Kennedy
Mrs. Virginia H. Kennedy, 78, of the Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa,
formerly of Niskayuna and the Town of Day, died Tuesday at the manor.
Born in Niskayuna, Mrs. Kennedy lived most of her life there until 1976
when she moved to Day.
For more than 20 years, she was a claims processor for the New York
State Insurance Fund, retiring in 1976.
Mrs. Kennedy was active with the Town of Day Senior Citizens.
She also was a former member of the Niskayuna Reformed Church.
Her husband, Cecil D. Kennedy, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Traver of Schoharie; a brother,
Everett Hartman of Galway; a sister, Olive Robinson of Waynesboro, Va.;
and a granddaughter.
A service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at the Baxter Funeral Home,
40 N. Brandywine Ave., Schenectady.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Winifred Klobukowski
Winifred Klobukowski, 87, of Church Street, Amsterdam, died Wednesday
at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility after a long
illness.
Born May 27, 1909, she was the daughter of Jacob and Nellie Holda Wieckowicz.
She was a lifelong area resident and was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Klobukowski was at one time employed by the former Bigelow-Sanford
Carpet Mills. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Leo's Tavern
until retiring in 1977.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
She married Leon J. Klobukowski on Jan. 10, 1937.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Jerome J. Klobukowski
of Poolesville, Md., two grandchildren, Lara Klobukowski of Greensboro,
N.C. and Matthew Klobukowski of Atlanta, Ga., and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Amsterdam
Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or to a
charity of one's choice.
Sophie Krzysko
Sophie H. Krzysko, 81, of James Street, Amsterdam, died Wednesday morning
at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
Born April 11, 1915, she was the daughter of Anthony and Helen Kowalski
Ilcewicz. She was a lifelong area resident and was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Krzysko was at one time employed by the Shuttleworth family and
later worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. She was also
employed by Colette's Manufacturing Co.
She was a troop leader for the St. Stanislaus Brownies and Girl Scouts.
She was also a member of the St. Stanislaus PTA and was an advisor for
the St. Stanislaus Altar Boys.
Mrs. Krzysko was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Her husband, Steven Krzysko, died April, 1957.
Survivors include a son, David Krzysko of North Reading, Mass.; a daughter,
Deborah Zurawel of Hamburg; a sister, Winifred Zabawczyk of Tampa, Fla.;
a granddaughter, Marie Zurawel and a grandson, Kevin Zurawel, both of Hamburg;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj
Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

Doris Vroman
Doris M. Vroman, 59, of Davies Lane, Cobleskill, died Tuesday at Albany
Medical Center after a long illness.
Born Nov. 16, 1936, in Middleburgh, she was the daughter of Walter G.
Mau Sr., and Mabel Wilday Mau. She was a lifelong resident of Schoharie
County and was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School.
She was employed as a legal secretary for 24 years in the law offices
of Frank A. Decker, Esq., Cobleskill.
Mrs. Vroman was a member of the Beards Hollow Society and secretary
for more than 15 years; a member of the board of directors of Vroman's
Nose Preservation Corps and treasurer for 14 years; and a member of Cobleskill
Chapter of Womens Aglow Fellowship and former treasurer.
Mrs. Vroman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cobleskill and a
member of the church choir and a former church council member.
She was married to Harold B. Vroman of Cobleskill.
In addition to husband, survivors include her mother, Mabel Wilday Mau
of Cobleskill; daughters Colleen J. O'Brien of Amsterdam and Cheri L. Wessels
of Rochester; a son, Walter J. Hadsell of Lawyersville; two step-sons,
Major Theodore T. Vroman, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Germany and
J. Richard Vroman of Edison, N.J.; four brothers, Milton E. Mau of Escondido,
Calif.; Herman P. Mau of Schenectady; Walter G. Mau Jr. of Cobleskill and
Henry S. Mau of Cobleskill; two sisters, Anna M. Alkinburg of Janesville
and Fredericka E. Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Hadsell,
in 1969.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran
Church, 70 E. Main St., Cobleskill, with the Rev. John Seltzer presiding.
Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

William Brown
William Adolphus Brown, 67, of North Street, Gloversville, died Wednesday
at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Born in Decatur, Ga., Mr. Brown was educated in Atlanta and moved to
Gloversville in 1947.
From 1950 to 1954, he served with the U.S. Air Force.
For several years, Mr. Brown worked for Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam.
Later, for more than 27 years, he was a truck driver for United Van Lines.
For several years, he was a youth supervisor for Tryon School For Boys.
For more than 20 years, he was a truck driver/supervisor for Hide and Skins
Inc. of Johnstown. At the time of his death, he was owner/operator of the
B&E Trucking Co.
Mr. Brown was a member of the People's AME Zion Church.
Mr. Brown was a former member of the Elks Lodge and member of the International
Brotherhood of Teamsters.
He married Emma Hall Brown on Aug. 9, 1950.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, William A. Jr.,
Todd J., and Rodney L. Brown, all of Gloversville, and the Rev. Melvin
Brown of Albany; two daughters, Sharon Brown of Atlanta and Yvonne Marie
Brown of Gloversville; a sister, Virla Clay of Gloversville; 13 grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the People's
AME Zion Church, Fulton Street, during which his son, the Rev. Melvin Brown,
will co-officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck
Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave.

Catherine Pabis
Mrs. Catherine I. Pabis, 62, of DeStefano Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday
morning at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1934, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late
Nelson and Alice Gauthier Benware. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch
High School and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Pabis was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
She married Jerome A. Pabis on Oct. 28, 1951.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Laura Falco
and Wendy Dybas, both of Amsterdam; a son, Mark Pabis of Niskayuna; two
sisters, Alice O'Brien of Fonda and Veronica Isom; five granddaughters
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jendrzejczak
Funeral Home, 200 Church St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at
9 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Grace Serviss
Grace Friers Serviss, 86, of Covent Gardens, Guilderland, died Thursday
at the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after being stricken at her daughter's
home on Wednesday.
Mrs. Serviss was born in Fultonville. She moved to Altamont in 1949
and to Guilderland in 1990. Mrs. Serviss graduated from the Fultonville
High School, the State University College at Oneonta and did her graduate
work at the State University of New York, Albany.
She was a teacher for 39 years, most of which was spent in the Guilderland
Central School District teaching social studies. She retired in 1975. She
served on the Guilderland School Board from 1975 to 1994. She was a member
of the Altamont Garden Club, the Helderberg Chapter No. 331, Order of the
Eastern Star and was an active member of the Guilderland Republican Committee.
Mrs. Serviss is survived by her daughter, Nancy Vertucci of Amsterdam;
two brothers, James Friers of Oneida and Delbert Friers of Fultonville;
a sister, Bessie Butler of Scotia; two grandsons, Scott R. Vertucci of
Killingworth, Conn. and Mark G. Vertucci of Amsterdam; and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fredendall
Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Burial will take place in Chuctaunda
Cemetery, Minaville.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Stella Flanagan
Mrs. Stella Pawlowski Flanagan, 93, of 111 Rutledge St., Syracuse, formerly
of Amsterdam, died Thursday at home after being stricken.
Born Jan. 23, 1903, in Poland, she was the daughter of Frank and Harriet
Pawlowski. Mrs. Flanagan was educated in Poland and came to Amsterdam at
the age of 16.
She worked at the former Blood Knitting Mills and the Amsterdam Glove
Co., retiring 30 years ago.
After her retirement, Mrs. Flanagan was a seamstress at the Saratoga
Performing Arts Center and was a volunteer at Community General Hospital
in Syracuse.
Her husband, Joseph J. Flanagan Sr., died in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Joseph J. Flanagan Jr. of Binghamton; three
daughers, Virginia Fitzpatrick of Brentwood, N.J., Kathleen Kelly of Syracuse
and Patricia Perry of Salem, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Riley
Mortuary, 110 Division St., followed at 1 p.m. with a Mass of christian
Burial at St. Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the
funeral home.

John Constantino
John C. Constantino, 81, of 19 Marie Parkway, Colonie, formerly of Amsterdam,
died Thursday evening at Memorial Hospital in Albany.
