Blanche L. Decker, 84, of Kingsboro Towers, Gloversville, died Sunday
at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born in Shandaken Dec. 24, 1912, the daughter of Osmer Lane
and Sarah Kathleen Thompson.
Mrs. Decker retired from Fownes Bros. in Amsterdam after working there
for 18 years as a cost accountant. She was a former member of the Perth
Bible Church.
She married Leslie Decker in Kingston in 1927, where she lived before
moving to Gloversville. He died in 1972.
She is survived by her sons, George Leslie Decker and Ronald R. Decker,
both of Gloversville; a daughter, Patricia A. Parker of Perth; a sister,
Ellen Crookston Mazzuca of Kingston ;14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Decker's body was donated to the Albany Medical College Anatomical
Gift Program.
A memorial service for the family will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin ambulance service,
Broadalbin.

Charles Brumagim
Charles G. Brumagim, 89, of Vernon, Conn., died Dec. 21.
Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of George and Mary Gillans Brumagim.
Mr. Brumagim was raised and educated in Amsterdam and was a graduate of
St. Mary's Institute. He moved to Vernon in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Sullivan Brumagim;
his daughter, Alice C. McPadden of Vernon; his sister, Margaret Doorey
of Booneville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased
by a son, Charles Hicks Brumagim.
Funeral services were private.

Sadie Medwid
Sadie Medwid of Edson Street, Amsterdam, died early Monday morning at
St. Mary's Hospital shortly after arrival.
Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Michael and Josie Bruzinskas
Pucunas. She was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Medwid was employed as a weaver for Mohawk Carpets and later as
an assembler for Ward Products, retiring in 1973.
She was an active communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Parish
where she served on the parish council and was a Eucharistic Minister.
She was a charter member and past president of St. Casimir's Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also past president and charter member of the St. Casimir's Seniors,
and Living Rosary Society of the church.
She married William Medwid on April 16, 1950.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Richard Sakadolsky
of Northville; three grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
Services will be 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk
Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.at the Church
of St. John the Baptist with the Rev. Joseph Grabys officiating.
Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty Chriss
Betty J. Chriss, 71, of Touareuna Road, Amsterdam, died Monday morning
at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, following a short illness.
She was born July 12, 1925, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Charles and
Emma Benson Hornbeck Sr. and lived in Amsterdam most of her life.
She was employed as a waitress at the Carl Company in Amsterdam and
Peggy's in Schenectady. She was later employed in sales at Pyramid Jewelers
in Amsterdam, retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Chriss was a member of West Glenville Grange 1531 and a communicant
of the West Charlton United Presbyterian Church.
She married Charles T. Chris Aug. 31, 1985.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three step-daughters,
Sharon Bellamy and Susan Manell, both of Amsterdam, and Mary Lou Nicolella
of Gloversville; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Charlton United Presbyterian
Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Sloat officiating.
Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam, in the spring.

171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Lawrence Baldine Sr.
Lawrence J. "Baldy" Baldine Sr., 71, of Market Street, Amsterdam, died
Monday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Amsterdam May 25, 1925, the son of Peter and Anna Sandy
Baldine. He was educated in Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong city resident.
Mr. Baldine was employed as a fireman and security guard at the General
Services Administration Navy Depot of Scotia for many years. He later was
a self-employed carpenter and also served as clerk of the works of the
new Montgomery County Courthouse project, retiring in 1992.
He served with the U.S. Army 24th Signal Co. in Japan at the conclusion
of World War II and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman
Catholic Church.
Mr. Baldine was an avid golfer and served on the Amsterdam Municipal
Golf Commission. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council
209.
Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Lauria, whom he married
April 8, 1951; two sons, Peter Baldine of Yorkville, Ill., and Lawrence
Baldine of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Anna Maria Baldine of Washington,
D.C., and Carmella Cowles of Mayfield; one brother, Anthony Baldine of
Amsterdam; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the DeStefano Funeral Home,
Route 5S, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial
at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Helen Eads
Helen Zinn Eads, 80, of Wall Street, Amsterdam, died Monday at the Niskayuna
home of her son after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, she had been a salesperson of women's better sportswear
at Abraham and Strauss in Brooklyn during the 1950s through the 1970s.
Later, she had been a clerical worker for the City of New York until her
retirement in the 1980s. A resident of upstate New York since 1994, she
was a communicant of the Church of St. Helen in Schenectady and the wife
of the late Howard Eads.
Survivors include one son, Cleve (Mary) Eads of Niskayuna; one sister,
Genevieve Sartory of Albany; three grandchildren; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:45 a.m. Friday at the Frederick
Funeral Home, 16 Manning Square, Albany, and at 9:30 a.m. at the Church
of St. Helen, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Stephen McWilliams
Stephen A. McWilliams, 51, of Crooked Street, Broadalbin, died Monday
at Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital in Albany.
Mr. McWilliams was born in Albany. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam
War.
At one time, Mr. McWilliams was a painter and furniture refinisher.
Most recently, he was a processing technician at Clearvue Polymers,
Amsterdam.
He married Nancy M. Glenn McWilliams in 1987.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Tina M. Munchbach
of Broadalbin and Lisa A. Ferguson of Amsterdam; three sons, David M.,
Daniel L., and Stephen A. McWilliams Jr., all of California; a brother,
Ronald Dinsmore of Scotia; and two grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. today at the Richard J. Ryan
Funeral Home, Sacandaga Road, Galway, where calling hours will begin at
7. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady.

Patricia Tymchyn
Mrs. Patricia B. Tymchyn, 66, of Hawes Road, Altamont, died Monday at
St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Born in Scotia, Mrs. Tymchyn was a graduate of Scotia High School. She
moved to Altamont in 1948. Mrs. Tymchyn was a transcriptionist for Traveler's
Insurance Co., Albany, retiring in July.
She was a communicant of St. Lucy's Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Martin M. Tymchyn; two sons, Kevin Tymchyn
of Gallupville and Michael Tymchyn of Schenectady; two daughters, Lynda
Furmann of Glen and Michele Seelow of Mayfield; two sisters, Catherine
Bachand of Altoona, Fla., and Mary Rose Mallia of Jacksonville, Fla.; and
five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St.
Lucy's Church, Grand Street. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mary Hall
Mary E. Hall, 87, of 41 First Ave., Broadalbin, died Tuesday at Amsterdam
Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks.
Born Sept. 1, 1909 in Austria-Hungary, she was the daughter of George
and Katherine Tanchak Stanton and came to the United States in 1910, settling
in Minerva.
She was educated in schools there and later moved to Long Island, where
she lived until 1958. She then moved to the Broadalbin area where she had
since resided.
Mrs. Hall was employed in the tape department at the former MCA of Gloversville,
retiring in 1971.
She was of the Episcopalian faith.
She married Alfred W. Hall on Aug. 21, 1931. He died Sept. 30, 1969.
Mrs. Hall was predeceased by two sons, Charles Hall, who died in 1964
and George Hall, who died in 1969.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Marion of Sequim, Wash.; two
sisters, Rose Benedict of Broadalbin and Alice Paul of Lyons, N.J.; four
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at the Union Mills
Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

John Murphy
John F. Murphy, 78, of County Route 107, Fort Johnson, died Sunday at
East Texas Medical Center after being stricken while on vacation.
Born June 15, 1918 in West Hartford, Conn., he was educated there. He
was the son of James P. and Mary E. Clark Murphy.
Mr. Murphy served with the Merchant Marine.
He was employed as a field quality control inspector in the Turbine
Engine Department for Westinghouse Electric, New England Division until
his retirement. At one time he also worked on the Erie Canal.
Mr. Murphy was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Taylor Murphy, a daughter, Colleen
Brancato of Johnstown; three sons, John F. Murphy Jr. of Florida, Robert
B. Murphy of Connecticut and Dennis P. Murphy of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the A. G. Cole Funeral
Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church 4 Nicholas St., Johnstown.
Calling hours were Wednesday.
Burial will be in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Johnstown.
Vincent "Jimmy" DelCostello
Vincent DelCostello, 83, of Austin Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday morning
at his home after being stricken.
Born Feb. 16, 1913 in Amsterdam, he was a son of Michael and Serafina
Frescura DelCostello.
He was educated locally and lived here all his life.
For many years, he was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady
as a forklift operator, retiring in 1978.
Mr. DelCostello also ran the former Jim's Lucheonette on Market Street
for several years.
He was a communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He was a member of several senior citizen's groups, including St. Casimir's
Seniors, Mount Carmel Seniors, the Hi-Lo Seniors, and the United Presbyterian
Seniors.
His wife, the former Eleanor DiCaprio, died in April of 1981.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Josie Sokalski of Amsterdam;
two sons, Michael W. and Richard A. DelCostello both of Amsterdam; two
daughters, Linda Nasadoski and Michele Harpp both of Amsterdam; four brothers,
Michael DelCostello of Schenectady, Herman DelCostello of Gloversville,
Albert and Carmen DelCostello both of Amsterdam; two sisters, Lena DelCostello
and Antionette DaBiere both of Amsterdam; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren,
and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Rossi
Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at
9:15 a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Interment is in St. Michael's
Cemetery.

Vera Shuttleworth
Vera F. Shuttleworth, 82, of Seven Hills Road, Northville, died Monday
morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a long illness.
Born and educated in Amsterdam, Mrs. Shuttleworth was a resident of
Northville since 1976.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Robert A. Shuttleworth, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Robert F. Shuttleworth of Northville; a daughter,
Anne Magnifico of Woodmere; a brother, James Egan of Amsterdam; three grandchildren;
and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the spring in the
Hagaman Cemetery.
