Franklin C. Hunt, 81, of Carlisle Road, Sprakers, died Tuesday at home.

Born in Carlisle, on Dec. 28, 1915, he was the son of Ford Hunt and Alice Crosby. He graduated from Cobleskill High School and also from Cornell University with a degree in Animal Science.

Mr. Hunt was a dairy farmer all his working life, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was the Town of Root Assessor for 30 years.

Mr. Hunt was a charter member of Faith Bible Church in Carlisle. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Schoharie County Holstein Fresian Association.

He married Ruth Darrow on Sept. 7, 1944 in Currytown. She died Dec. 16, 1986.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet L. Burchell of Kobe, Japan; Virginia A. Clinansmith of Sprakers, and Margaret E. Stoutland of Canajoharie; two sons, the Rev. Stuart G. Hunt of Tyler Hill, Pa., and Paul J. Hunt of Sprakers; one brother, Lawrence Hunt of Ithaca; 13 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Faith Bible Church, Carlisle Road, Sprakers. Pastor Peter D. Marshall will officiate.

Burial will take place in Carlisle Rural Cemetery in the spring.

Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Bible Academy, 106 Crosby Road, Sprakers, 12166.

Milfred Rupsis
January 13, 1997

Milfred Hubbard Rupsis, 75, of Canandaigua, formerly of Amsterdam, died Monday at Thompson Hospital, in Canandaigua.

Born Aug. 6, 1921 in Rochester, Vt, she was the daughter of Glenn and Eva Carter Hubbard.

She graduated from Peoples' Academy in Morrisville, Vt., in 1938 and from Russell Sage College, Troy, in 1943, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Canandaigua Chapter, and the National Society: Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. Mrs. Rupsis was an active member of the American Association of University Women for several years and a member of St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua.

She was married to Dr. Joseph M. Rupsis. He died in 1996.

She was predeceased by a son, Dr. John M. Rupsis in 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Lane of Honeowe Falls, N.Y., and three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 47 North Main St., Canandaigua, from where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.

Donna Jean Nowakowski
January 13, 1997

Donna Jean Cerserlitch Nowakowski, 51, of Glen Avenue, Amsterdam, died Monday morning at the Darlene Drive Residence of Liberty Enterprises in Fort Johnson.

Born on May 7, 1945 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of John and Alma Cerserlitch, and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Nowakowski was employed as a factory worker at Liberty Enterprises of Amsterdam.

She attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam.

She married Dennis Nowakowski on Nov. 15, 1980.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Irene Shuster of Avon Lake, Ohio; and Marlene Lacy of Marion, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. The interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Liberty Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
 

Marilyn Rogers
January 11, 1997

Marilyn Viola Rogers, 67, of 298 Bleecker St., Gloversville, died Saturday at Bay Medical Center in Panama City Beach, Fla., after a short illness.

Born in Amsterdam on April 5, 1929, she was the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Roosevelt Beyer.

She resided in Gloversville most of her life. She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years.

Mrs. Rogers attended Gloversville schools and attended the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Rogers, whom she married Nov. 30, 1946; a son, William H. Rogers of Gloversville; a daughter, Sharon R. Thomas also of Gloversville; her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Roosevelt Beyer of Gloversville; two sisters, Shirley Sanges of Gloversville and Barbara Abdella of Redlands, Calif.; a brother, Ronand Beyer of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Walrath & Bushouer Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Steven Clunn officiating.

Entombment will be at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.

Ida Barker
January 16, 1997

Ida M. Barker, 92, died Thursday at Fulton County Infirmary in Gloversville, whe she resided since October of 1990.

Born Feb. 10, 1904 in Benson, she was the daughter of Frank and Jennie Orcutt Manzer. She resided in Gloversville since the age of 18 and graduated from Gloversville High School and Gloversville Business School.

Mrs. Barker was employed as an office manager with the former Scotsmoor Company in Johnstown from 1932 to 1965.

She attended Emmanueal Baptist Church in Goversville. 

She married Donald S. Barker in 1926. He died in 1929.

Mrs. Barker is survived by a daughter, Beverly B. Caputo of Gloversville; two grandchildren and one nephew.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Walrath & Bushouer Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Peter R. Ellis officiating. Spring burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Sophia Alexander
January 16, 1997

Sophia Frances Alexander, 89, of Greene Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday at her home.

Mrs. Alexander was born Nov. 30, 1907 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Joseph and Laura Andrus. She attended Amsterdam Schools and was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam. Mrs. Alexander had been employed by the former Empire Devices and then by Ward Products many years ago. 

She had been a communicant of the former St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.

She married Peter E. Alexander on July 1, 1942. He died Jan. 24, 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Aldi of Amsterdam; Barbara Smalley of Saratoga Springs; and Susan Farina of Syracuse; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Lindsay Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
 

Jerome Muszynski
January 17, 1997

Jerome Muszynski, 85, of 123 Elizabeth Street, Tribes Hill, died this morning at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Amsterdam on Jan. 27, 1911, he was the son of John and Lillian Trzaskos Muszynski and lived in Amsterdam until 1932 before moving to Tribes Hill.

Mr. Muszynski was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a stock handler until retiring in 1971.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Airforce attached to the 135th Squadron 5th Airforce doing duty in the South Pacific in the New Guinea Area.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.

Mrs. Muszynski is survived by his wife, Edith Jeannette Smith Muszynski, whom he married Jan. 3, 1948, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family on Saturday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., with the Rev. Edward Sipperly officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
 

Raymond Bolster
January 17, 1997

Raymond J. Bolster, 99, of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, and formerly of 385 Fical St., St. Johnsville, died Friday at the nursing home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1897 in Oppenheim, the son of Milton J. and Dorn B. (Barker) Bolster.

Mr. Bolster was married to the former Clara C. Kraft on July 10, 1923 in Fort Plain. The two resided in the St. Johnsville and Lassellsville areas their entire lives. The two then resided at Pineview Commons Adult Home in Johnstown from June 1995 until Mr. Bolster was moved to the St. Johnsville Nursing Home in October 1996.

He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power & Light Corp beginning in 1928 until retiring in 1965.

Mr. Bolster was a member of F&AM Masonic Lodge 611 in St. Johnsville for 47 years. He also was a 40-year member of Odd Fellows Lodge in St. Johnsville.

At the time of his death, he was a member of Lassellsville Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Clara of Johnstown; a daughter, Joan R. Capece of St. Simon's Island, Ga.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bolster was pre-deceased by a son, Roy Bolster, who died in 1930.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at the family's convenience at St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Olga Randazzo
January 17, 1997

Olga T. Randazzo, 84, formerly of Forben Street, Amsterdam, died Friday at Green Manor Nursing Home in Ghent.

She was born Jan. 12, 1913 in Ben Alfro, Provence of Isermia, Italy, a daughter of Oresti and Angelina Manselli Bombardieri. She was educated in Italy.

Mrs. Randazzo was employed as a seamstress before moving to this country. She moved to the United States and on Dec. 15, 1967, became a citizen.

She was employed at Adirondack Knitting Mill until her retirement.

Mrs. Randazzo was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

In 1961, she married Antonio Randazzo. He died Oct. 24, 1989.

Survivors include three brothers, Bruno Bombardieri, Oresti Bombardieri and Mandini Bombardieri, all of Milan, Italy; one sister, Concetta Maria Galunturmo of Milan, Italy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. today at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
 

Mary Furman
January 17, 1997

Mrs. Mary Furman, 78, formerly of Schuyler Street, died Friday afternoon at Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam.

She was born Jan. 28, 1918 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Anthony and Madeline Mierzwa Tybor. She was educated in Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Furman had been employed by the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills.

She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church.

Her husband, Edward Furman, died Nov. 4, 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Cole of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Stanley Tybor of Johnstown; three sisters, Lillian Renzo, Isabelle Palilunas and Bernadine Tybor, all of Amsterdam; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be private.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50 Cornell St., Amsterdam.

Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam.
 

Barry Winney
January 17, 1997

Barry G. Winney, 64, of Stevers Mill Road, Broadalbin, died Friday at the Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility where he had resided since December.

He was born in Broadalbin Dec. 4, 1932, the son of LeRoy and Myra Harvey Winney. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Broadalbin High School. In 1961, he received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Mr. Winney was a lifelong area resident.

He was a self-employed machinist and welder in Broadalbin.

Mr. Winney was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 337 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8690, both of Broadalbin.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Myra Winney of Amsterdam; three brothers, Jack Winney, David Winney and Philip Winney, all of Broadalbin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin.

A memorial service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Johnson officiating. Cremation will be at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady.

Final interment will take place in the spring at the Union Mills Cemetery.

Victoria Levandowski
January 16, 1997

Victoria Nowak Levandowski, 98, formerly of Maple Avenue, Hagaman, died Thursday at the Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine Bridge, where she had resided since September 1996.

She was born Oct. 25, 1898 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Zacharia and Marjanna Wachel Nowak.

Mrs. Levandowski was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam, and St. Stephen's Church, Hagaman.

Her husband, John Levandowski, died Oct. 25, 1958.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Harold Barber
January 17, 1997

Harold L. Barber, 87, of Amsterdam, died Friday at Montgomery Meadows, Amsterdam, after a long illness.

Born July 31, 1909 in Bennington, Vt., he was the son of Jessie and Maude Sawyer Barber. He attended Vermont schools.

Mr. Barber was employed as a machinist at the General Electric Co., Schenectady, before retiring in the late 1960s.

Survivors include his wife, the former Pansy Harrington; a daughter, Carole Ann Kilgus of Dushore, Pa.; two sons, Harold "Clay" Barber of Amsterdam and Raymond Barber of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Retta Eddy of Florida and Ruth Freemyre of White Creek; a brother, Carl Barber of Patchogue, Long Island; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Calhoun, pastor of Perth Bible Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Schenectady.
