Beatrice D. Beacraft, 72, of East Worcester, died Friday at Albany Medical
Center.
Born May 26, 1924 in Worcester, she was the daughter of Dorwin and Tillie
(Morrell) Morrell.
Her first husband, Herbert Alan, died in 1983. She then married Palmer
S. Beacraft on Aug. 4, 1984, in Cobleskill.
She was a lifelong resident of Worcester.
She was employed for more than 20 years with Oneonta Dress as a dress
maker, retiring in June of 1984.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Mary E.
Loft of Fort Plain and Sandra L. Beacraft of Cobleskill; three grandchildren
James, Jessica and Zachariah Wall of Fort Plain, a sister, Dorothy Joyce
of Oneonta; a brother, Arthur Morrell of Schenevus; several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the E.J. Skinner
Co Funeral Chapel in Worcester. The Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain of
A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, will officiate. Spring burial will be in the
Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.

Albert Scott
Albert T. Scott Jr., 73, of Fort Plain, died Monday at Bassett Healthcare
in Cooperstown after being stricken at home.
Born June 6, 1923 in Johnstown, he was the son of Albert and Katherine
(Heroth) Scott.
Mr. Scott was a resident of Fort Plain for 52 years. He worked at the
Fort Plain Central School as custodian for 19 years until retiring in 1985.
He was known as "Lockerman" on CB Channel 12, and was a charter member
of the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department.
He married Mabel Bennett in Fort Plain on Jan. 31, 1940.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Marion Scott
of Northville, Katherine VanAlstine of Saratoga Springs, Elizabeth McGovern
of Cherry Valley and Linda Prime of Fort Plain, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Carl LeRoy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ottman
Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman, pastor of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, and Rev. Adeline Bowley of the United Methodist
Church, Rupert, Vt., officiating. Burial will be in the Freysbush Cemetery
in this spring.
There will be calling hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the
funeral home, with a firemen service at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the South Minden Volunteer Fire
Department, Mid-County Ambulance, or the charity of one's choice.
Joseph Lallo
Joseph A. Lallo Sr., 89, of Gloversville, died Saturday at St. Johnsville
Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, Mr. Lallo was a glove cutter at Grandoe Glove Corp.,
retiring in 1970.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
He married Anna M. Topo Lallo in November of 1993.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Joseph A. Lallo Jr.
of Johnstown; a daughter, Dolores Sanders of Sebastian, Fla.; two sisters,
Eleanor Keeler of Herkimer and Frances Nesci of Arizona; six grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place in Parkview Crematory in Schenectady.
A private graveside service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.

Marion Winans
Mrs. Marion Van Tassell Winans, 85, of St. Johnsville Nursing Home,
formerly of Cobleskill, died Monday at the nursing home after a long illness.
Born in Sidney, Mrs. Winans attended Sidney High School and lived most
of her life in the Cobleskill area before moving to the home in 1995.
She was an X-ray technician for Community Hospital of Cobleskill before
retiring. At one time, she and her husband operated a dry-cleaning business.
Her husband, Leland C. Winans, died in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Frantzen of Richmondville and
Beverly McClean of Syracuse; a grandson and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Robert A.
Guffin Funeral Home, 1 Chapel St. Spring burial will take place in Cobleskill
Rural Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany chapter of the American
Heart Association.
Iona Burgess
Mrs. Iona West Burgess, 79, of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing
Home, Gloversville, died Monday after a long illness.
Born in Greenfield, Mrs. Burgess was educated in local schools.
She resided in Saratoga before moving to Schenectady, where she lived
for 30 years. Since 1987, she lived in Fulton County and at the nursing
home since 1994.
At one time, Mrs. Burgres was a member of several bowling leagues in
Schenectady.
Her husband, James W. Burgess, whom she married Nov. 24, 1957, died
in 1976.
Survivors include a son, Dayl Rhodes of Schenectady; a daughter, Shirley
Stuart of Gloversville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Robert
M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main st., Broadalbin. Burial will be in Ballston
Spa Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home's
Van Fund.
Frederick Slaper
Frederick T. Slaper, 70, of Cliff Street, Canajoharie, died Sunday at
home after a long illness.
Born May 22, 1926 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Roy and Mary Kane
Slaper. Mr. Slaper lived most of his life in Canajoharie.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy.
For 40 years, Mr. Slaper was a supervisor in the advertising shipping
departments of the Beech-Nut Co., retiring in 1987.
He was a 37-year member of the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department;
a member of the Smith-Schultz American Legion Post No. 222; a member of
the Elks Lodge 2621 of Nelliston; past director and past president of the
Canajoharie Country Club; a Little League coach; and coach of the Beechies
girls softball team.
Mr. Slaper was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church.
He married Jeanne Smith Slaper on April 4, 1953.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jana Susi
and Julie Franchi, both of Canajoharie, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Lenz &
Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., and at 9:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul
Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Spring burial
will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.

Department or the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
George Wemple
George Alan Wemple, 84, of 23 E. Eighth Ave., Gloversville, died Sunday
at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1911 in Gloversville, he was the son of George L. and
Alice Van Allen Wemple. Mr. Wemple was a graduate of Gloversville High
School. He was in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Wemple was a disabled veteran from World War II with the 10th Mountain
Division, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He attended North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
Me married Amelia Simon on Feb. 5, 1942. She died June 7, 1975.
Mr. Wemple is survived by his sister-in-law, Matilda Simon of Gloversville,
with whom he resided for many years; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews.
Private funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring.

Wesley Putman
Wesley D. Putman, 59, of First Avenue, Broadalbin, died Monday evening
at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Johnstown, he was the son of Wesley M. and Ethel Schoolcraft
Putman and was a 1954 graduate of Broadalbin High School. He served in
the apprentice program with General Electric Co., Schenectady, where he
then became employed in turbine management for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Putman was instrumental in the development of the Robert Moses Parkway
Dam, located in Niagara County.
Mr. Putman was a member of the Army National guard based in Schenectady
for 19 years, attaining the rank of lieutenant.
He was a former chief of the Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Co. and was a
chairman of the former Broadalbin Civic Association.
Mr. Putman was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church
in Gloversville.
Survivors include two sons, David W. Putman of Ballston Lake and Michael
W. Putman of Buffalo; two daughters, Pamela A. Colasanti of Johnstown and
Melissa A. Nicosia of Broadalbin; his parents, Wesley and Ethel Schoolcraft
Putman of Johnstown; a sister, Nancy L. Sammons of Sammonsville, his special
friend, Kay Fassett of Broadalbin; nine grandchildren, several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Robert
M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin with the Rev. Gregory
Le Strange of Fayetteville officiating. Spring burial will take place at
the Broadalbin Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.

Antonio Russo
Antonio Russo, 84, of 35 William St., Gloversville, died Tuesday at
Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a long illness.
Born Oct. 11, 1912 in Gloversville, he was the son of Nicholas and Mary
Gentile Russo.
Mr. Russo was a graduate of Gloversville High School. He was employed
in maintenance with the Fulton County Infirmary, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Gloversville.
He married Sophie Mendetta on May 31, 1942.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mary Ricciardi
of Gloversville; a son, Nicholas Russo of Gloversville; a granddaughter;
two great-grandsons; and a sister, Josephine Bunn of Gloversville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at the Walrath &
Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, followed by a
Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church,
with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Burial will be at Prospect
Hill Cemetery, Gloversville in the spring.

Fred Cummings
Fred Cummings, 79, of Callaghan Boulevard, Charlton, died Tuesday at
home after a long illness.
Born in Belfast, Ireland, Mr. Cummings was a graduate of Quincy, Mass.,
High School and earned an associate's degree from Wentworth Institute in
Boston.
He moved to the Schenectady area in 1940 when he joined the General
Electric Co. as a student draftsman. In 1942, he transferred to gas turbine
drafting. During his career, he held various supervisory positions until
1972, when he was appointed manager of documentation systems and drafting
in the gas turbine technical resources operation. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Cummings was the author of two technical papers and was a design
contributor to the GE Aircraft Engine that was a forerunner to the gas
turbine.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, GE Elfun Society, the
General Electric Co. Hall of History Society, and a former member of the
Edison Club.
Mr. Cummings was also a former member of the First Reformed Church.
He served twice as vice chairman and also as a board member for the
Institute for the Certification of Engineering Technicians.
His first wife, Grace Flatt Cummings, died in 1978.
He later married Sally Shea Cummings on March 29, 1980.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Marcia Dunbar
of Houston and Leslie Cummings of Syracuse; and a grandson.
Private services and burial will be conducted at the convenience of
the family. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Schenectady or the
Ballston Lake Elementary Squad.
