Gordon T. Cook, 67, of Route 162, Sprakers, died Saturday at St. Mary's
Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness.
Born May 6, 1929 in Broadalbin, he was the son of Marvin and Blanche
Shuster Cook. He was a graduate of Broadalbin schools.
For more than 48 years, he was manager for the Moyer-Buchner Farm before
retiring in 1992.
Survivors include four cousins, James R. Cook of Gloversville, Donald
Crannell and Marjorie Bishop, both of Broadalbin and Gail Cramer of Northville.
He is also survived by Catherine Buchner, Linda Russell, Jeffery Watson,
Kenneth Moyer, James Moyer and families, all of Sprakers.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Walrath & Bushouer
Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.
Burial is in Northampton Cemetery in the spring.

Carmela Nocera
Carmela (Fondacaro) Nocera, 82, of Michigan Avenue, Schenectady, died
Wednesday at her home.
Born in the Province of Calabara in Italy, she was the daughter of Joseph
and Seraphine Domanica Fondacaro.
She came to Amsterdam from Italy when she was 2 years old, settling
in Amsterdam and moving to Schenectady upon her marriage.
Mrs. Nocera was a homemaker.
She married Emilio Nocera on Sept 6, 1936.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Ninfa Wood
of Oakland, Calif., and Seraphine (Candy) Barton, of Clifton Park; a son,
Ralph J. Nocera of Clifton Park; five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren;
three sisters, Mary Furiani of San Gabael, Calif., Lucy Monte, of Breezy
Point and Dorothy Bottone of Schenectady; two brothers, John Fondacaro
and Samuel Fondacaro, both of Amsterdam; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Private funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at the N.
Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at North Jay streets, Schenectady.
Burial will be Friday morning in Sts. Cyryl and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
Calling hours for family and relatives only, are from 6 to 8 tonight
at the funeral home.

Carl Chichester
Carl E. Chichester Jr., 68, of 129 Old Trail Road, Mohawk, died Wednesday
morning at his home after a long illness.
Born Oct. 26, 1928 in Geneseo, he was the son of Carl E. and Bertha
Dehr Chichester.
He attended schools in Defreestville and moved to Fort Hunter at the
age of 16.
He was first employed with the state of New York Barge Canal System
in maintenance, then with the Town of Florida maintenance department for
several years. He then worked for Jeffer's Bottled Gas Service, and later
with the Montgomery County Infirmary until retirement in 1984.
Mr. Chichester was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Fonda.
Mr. Chichester was first married to Marlene McQuade. He later married
Genevieve Summers on July 21, 1984.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Carl E. Chichester
III of Gloversville, Donald E. Chichester of Fonda, and Kevin Chichester
of Florida; three daughters, Carlene Dorman of Gloversville, Cathy Simonds
of Gloversville, and Laurie Fallis of Johnstown; two stepsons, Michael
Burroughs of Scotia; Douglas Burroughs of Northville; three stepdaughters,
Marie Fariello of Amsterdam, Lorraine Stewart of South Carolina, and JoAnn
Burroughs of Florida; three sisters, Marie Weston of Redding, Calif., Rosemary
Dopp of Fort Hunter and Martha Burroughs of Scotia; three brothers, William
Foose of Bloomfield, Frank Chichester of Tribes Hill, and Lee Chichester
of Fort Hunter; 26 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the DeStefano
Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bernice Barszcz
Bernice Barszcz, 98, formerly of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, died Tuesday
at Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam.
Born Feb. 11, 1899 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Michael Barszcz
and Victoria Zierak.
She moved to Montgomery Meadows in 1992.
Ms. Barszcz was educated locally. She taught piano in her youth and
was employed for the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills. Later, she worked
for the former Allen Bakery.
She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist and a member
of the former Children of Mary Sodality of the Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Clarence Wolak of Dearborn, Mich., and
Raymond Twardzik of Bradenton, Fla.; three nieces, Ernestine Krawczyk,
Regina Trzaskos and Lorraine Cosentino, all of Amsterdam; and also great-nephews
and nieces.
A service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj
Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. at the church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St.
Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Catherine Seeley
Catherine M. Seeley, 85, of County Route 110, Broadalbin, died Tuesday
afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient
since Thursday.
Born Dec. 25, 1911 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Daniel and
Sarah Miller McClary and moved to Fish House and was a lifelong resident
of that area.
At one time, Mrs. Seeley was employed at the Mohawk Carpet Mills in
Amsterdam. She later operated an antique shop for several years. Mrs. Seeley,
along with her late husband, Charles, owned and operated the Northern Sanitary
& Septic Co. in Broadalbin.
Mrs. Seeley was the oldest member of the Northampton United Methodist
Church at Fish House.
She was a lifetime member of the Fish House Community Center.
She married Charles Seeley on March 30, 1929. He died in 1970.
Survivors include two sisters, Ella Shelmandine and Amy Fratianni, both
of Amsterdam; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at the Union Mills
Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance
Corps or the Providence Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Blanch Hoehn
Mrs. Blanch Gray Hoehn, 83, of Park Hill Adult Home, formerly of South
Pawling Street, Hagaman, died Tuesday at Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam.
Born Aug. 30, 1913, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Schyler and
Bertha Gilmeier Gray. Mrs. Hoehn was raised in Fort Hunter.
Mrs. Hoehn was educated in Amsterdam and lived in Phoenix, Ariz., for
30 years, returning to this area in 1990.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hoehn was a Lutheran.
She was the widow of Harry Derby, Donald Peeler and Rudolph Hoehn.
Survivors include a son, Keith Derby of Beijing, China; a daughter,
Deborah Shover of Hagaman; a sister, Mildred Gray of Fort Hunter; and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hoehn was pre-deceased by three
children, Harry Derby Jr., Kerry Derby, and Barbara Ann TenEyke.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Jackson &
Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville. Burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery in Fonda.
A calling hour will precede the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Foundation, in care
of the Mobile Geriatrics Program.
Irma Gilladette
Mrs. Irma Gerhart Gilladette, 83, of Charles Street, Nelliston, died
Wednesday at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown after a short
illness.
Born May 23, 1913 in Nelliston, she was the daughter of Edwin and Ella
Van Alstyne Gerhart. Mrs. Gilladette was a lifelong resident. She was a
graduate of Gloversville Business School.
For many years, she owned and operated Gerhart's Florist in Nelliston,
retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Gilladette was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution,
Fort Plain Chapter.
She was a communicant of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Plain.
Her husband, John Gilladette, died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Louis Gilladette of Nelliston; four grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Lenz &
Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman
officiating. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady.
Calling hours are from 5 p.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance
Corps in Canajoharie.
Beverley Hartnett
Mrs. Beverley J. Hartnett, 65, of Fifth Avenue, Gloversville, died Tuesday
at home after being stricken.
Mrs. Hartnett was a lifelong Gloversville resident. She worked at the
Newberry department store and at the Glove Theater. She was subsequently
employed as a cashier at the P&C Supermarket in Johnstown, retiring
in 1994.
Her husband, Robert Hartnett, whom she married March 29, 1952, died
in 1991.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Hartnett of Gloversville, Michael
Hartnett of Saratoga Springs and Stephen Hartnett of Fishkill; two sisters,
Barbara Bleyl of Gloversville and Shirley Fitzwater of North East, Md.;
and three granddaughters.
There will be no service or calling hours.
Cremation was in Leather Stocking Crematory in Cherry Valley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gloversville Little League
or Gloversville Field Hockey Booster Club.
Arrangements are by the Amico Funeral Home.
Mary Owens
Mrs. Mary Dunagan Owens, 99, of Swaggertown Road, Charlton, died Tuesday
at the Ellis Center Skilled Nursing Facility in Schenectady after a long
illness.
Born in Horse Cave, Ky., Mrs. Owens lived in this area since 1922.
She was a member of the Freehold Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Owens was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and its Acacia
Court. She was also a member of the Harmony Corners Grange.
Her husband, Joseph W. Owens, died in 1970.
Survivors include four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no services or calling hours.
Mrs. Owens has made an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.
Arrangements are by the Hans Funeral Home of Albany.
Carolyn Normandin
Mrs. Carolyn DiDonato Normandin, 73, of Utica, formerly of Gloversville,
died Tuesday in Utica.
Born in Gloversville Mrs. Normandin was a 1940 graduate of Gloversville
High School. She moved to the Utica area several years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Normandin was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Rose Spurza and Teresa Andreana, both
of Gloversville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Amico Funeral
Home, 150 S. Main St., Gloversville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. Spring burial
will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or to
charity.
Mabel Konys
Mrs. Mabel G. Konys, 81, of Granville Avenue, Rotterdam, died Saturday
at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Saugerties, Mrs. Konys moved to Schenectady as a child.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, State Street,
Schenectady.
Survivors include her husband, Frank L. Konys; a son, Dr. Richard A.
Konys of Dewitt; a brother, George Gardiner of Broadalbin; three grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Joseph's
Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church's restoration fund
or the Albany chapter of the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by Daly Funeral Home in Schenectady.
Alice McPadden
Alice C. Brumagim McPadden, of Vernon, Conn., and Cummaquid, Mass.,
died Thursday.
Born May 10, 1937 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Catherine Brumagim
and the late Charles Brumagim. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute
and the College of St. Rose.
She taught elementary school in Lebanon and Rotterdam, Fort Bragg, N.C.,
and Erlangen, Germany. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church. In
the 1970s she was active in the Vernon PTO and the Vernon Little League
Auxiliary. She retired in 1994 after 17 years as the executive director
of the Rockville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. McPadden was an active member of the East of the River Chamber
of Commerce and was co-founder of the Women's Forum. She also served as
a corporator of the Savings Bank of Rockville at the time of her death.
Besides her mother, Mrs. McPadden is survived by her husband, Russell;
daughters, Deirdre Giller, and Maura Lawrence; her sons, Sean and Christopher;
and one grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday at the Burke-Fortin
Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, Conn., with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church.
Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.
