Edward H. Plisinski, 75, of Cardiff Road, Rotterdam, died Saturday at
home after a long illness.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Stanislaus and Frances Lewandowske
Plisinski.
He moved to Amsterdam as a youngster and attended St. Stanislaus Roman
Catholic School and the Vocational Technical School of Amsterdam.
Mr. Plisinski moved to Schenectady in 1956. He was first employed by
Sunoco Products of Amsterdam, then with the Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mill
until it closed. He was later employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady
in the maintenance department for 29 years, retiring in 1983.
He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the European,
African and Middle Eastern campaigns.
Mr. Plisinski was a member of the John J. Wysomirski Post 701 of Amsterdam,
the Rotterdam Boys Club, and St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church.
He married Giovanna "Jennie" Puglia Oct. 6, 1946.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Stephen Plisinski
of Naimey, Niger, Africa, and John Plisinski of Groton, Conn.; two sisters,
Helen Williams and Genevieve Casabone, both of Amsterdam; two grandchildren;
nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home,
1605 Helderburg Ave., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with full military honors.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

St., Amsterdam.

Arena Conti
Arena S. Conti, 66, of Union Street, Broadalbin, died Sunday at the
Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Canajoharie, she was the daughter of Edward and Nellie Schofield
Adkins.
She was educated in Canajoharie and in Amsterdam. Mrs. Conti received
an associate in applied science degree in early childhood education from
Fulton-Montgomery Community College and had been a substitute teacher for
the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District. She was also employed by
Coleco in Amsterdam for many years.
She was married to Angelo Conti.
Mrs. Conti is survived by a son, Donald Conti of Clifton Park; and a
brother, James Adkins of Broadalbin.
Mrs. Conti donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany
Medical College.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

Elizabeth Bradbury
Elizabeth "Betty" Bradbury, 69, of St. Johnsville, died Sunday at St.
Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, after a long illness.
Born July 27, 1927, in West Winfield, she was the daughter of Charlotte
Wilcox and the late Edward F. Nolan. She was a graduate of St. Johnsville
High School and the State University of New York at Oneonta.
Mrs. Bradbury was a resident of the St. Johnsville area since 1949.
She married Edward L. Bradbury June 27, 1951, in West Winfield. He died
Oct. 17, 1994.
For 43 years, until her retirement, Mrs. Bradbury was a teacher in the
St. Johnsville Central School District.
Survivors include her mother, Charlotte Wilcox of St. Johnsville; a
sister, Marilyn Garvin of Utica; an aunt; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral
Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bridgewater, at a later date.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Helen Prutzman
Helen Prutzman, 81, of White Haven, Pa., died Monday at Weatherwood
Home for the Aged in Weatherly.
Born in Highland, Pa., she lived in the White Haven area most of her
life. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Jarrick) Gillish.
She was married to Norman J. Prutzman. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Prutzman was a member of St. Patrick's Church in White Haven, the
60 Plus Club, White Haven Senior Citizens and the Women's Guild of St.
Patrick's Church, all of White Haven.
Survivors include three sons, Norman Prutzman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,
Stephen Drozic of Scotch Plains, N.J., and Michael Drozic of Amsterdam
and White Haven; a daughter, Paula Barney of Stroudsburg, Pa., and a step-daughter,
Barbara Graff of Weatherly; a sister, Ethel Ross of Northhampton; nine
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Joseph E. Lehman Funeral
Home Inc., 403 Berwick St., White Haven, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, White Haven.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, White Haven.

Jack Schaeffer
Jack H. Schaeffer, 59, of 110 Grand St., Amsterdam, died Monday at Amsterdam
Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn April 15, 1938, he was the son of Alfred and Dora Samuels
Schaeffer.
He worked for Duro Test Co. in Hackensack, N.J., until he moved to Amsterdam
in 1976. At that time, he worked at Coleco until 1985, retiring due to
ill health.
Mr. Schaeffer is survived by his wife, Stella Crawn Schaeffer, whom
he married July1, 1967; two sisters, Gloria Owczarek of Long Island and
Laura Walters of Deland, Fla.; and a brother, Robert Schaeffer of Rochester.
Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc.,
171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian
Burial at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam.
Burial will follow at Viewland Cemetery, Schenectady.

Robert Bradley
Robert C. Bradley, 85, of Mohawk Street, Sauquoit, died Sunday evening
at Oneida Healthcare Center in Oneida as a result of an auto accident last
Sunday.
Born in Wilder, Idaho, March 7, 1912, he was the son of Elton Bradley
and Margaret Prosser.
Mr. Bradley graduated from Ticonderoga High School in Ticonderoga and
attended Syracuse University and graduated from Cornell University.
He was employed for 35 years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and
Soil Conservationist working in Gloversville, Cobleskill, and lastly in
Utica, retiring in the late 1970s.
Mr. Bradley lived in Sauquoit since 1968. He previously lived in Sprout
Brook.
He was an Army veteran with the 10th Mountain Infantry during World
War II.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Freysbush.
Mr. Bradley was a former member of the Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge and
a member of the New York State Blue Bird Society.
He married Ella Smith May 9, 1936. She died March 17.
Survivors include a daughter, Mina Bradley-Scott of Syracuse; a granddaughter,
a sister-in-law and a nephew.
A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gray-Houghtaling
& Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
Pastor Kenneth Dingman will officiate.
Burial for Mr. Bradley and his wife will follow in Springfield Cemetery,
Springfield Center.
There will be no calling hours.
The VFW Memorial Squad will conduct graveside military honors.

Anna Mae Mackie
Anna Mae Gahr Mackie, 91, of Kline Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday at
Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born Nov. 26, 1905, she was the daughter of William and Anna Gahr. She
was educated in Amsterdam.
Mrs. Mackie was a re-winder for Mohasco Industries for more than 46
years, retiring in 1967.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 60 years and
was also a member of its former Faithful Daughters group.
Her husband, Thomas W. Mackie, whom she married Sept. 2, 1933, died
in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Busseno of Amsterdam; a grandson,
and great-grandson.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171
Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The Rev. Robert Doxey will officiate.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.

Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Harriet LeFevre
Harriet R. LeFevre, 97, of the Palatine Nursing Home, died Monday at
the nursing home after a long illness.
Born in Grahamsville Jan. 11, 1900, she was the daughter of Daniel LeFevre
and Genivieve Thornton.
She graduated from Schenectady schools.
Miss LeFevre operated Rachel's Dress Shop in Saugerties and later worked
at the Saugerties Public Library.
She lived at the nursing home since September 1990. She previously lived
in Saugerties.
Miss LeFevre was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include a niece, Susan L. Kraus of Lake Pleasant; two great-nephews
and several cousins.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are by the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Canajo-harie.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Robert Cheney
Robert L. Cheney, 68, of Cayadetta Street, Gloversville, died Monday
at home after being stricken.
Born in Ticonderoga, Mr. Cheney served as an Army paratrooper in the
Pacific Theater of Operatrions during World War II.
He was a stick dryer operator for the Pan Am Tannery before retiring
in 1985.
Mr. Cheney was a former member of the Foresters Club and the Bleecker
Fish and Game Club.
His wife, Katherine Cheney, died in 1992.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Cheney of Mayfield, Roberta Sawyer
and Claudia Thompson, both of Gloversville; two sisters, Lelia White of
Johnstown and Hilda Decker of Gloversville; his mother, Laura Morrison
of Gloversville; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Amico Funeral Home, 150
S. Main St.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Raymond Rogers
Raymond J. Rogers, 78, of Fiery Hill Road, Fort Plain, died Monday night
at Little Falls Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Starkville July 16, 1918, he was the son of John Rogers and
Verna Nestle. He attended the Van Hornesville school.
Mr. Rogers was employed by the Town of Stark Highway Department as superintendent
of highways for many years and later worked for the Herkimer County Highway
Department in various capacities, retiring as foreman in 1986 after 17
years of service.
He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Rogers was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Starkville United Methodist Church, a member
of VFW Post 3275 of Fort Plain, and a trustee of the Starkville United
Methodist Church.
He married Edna Suits Nov. 9, 1946, in Fort Plain.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard J. Rogers
Sr. of Fort Plain and Bernard J. Rogers Sr. of Harve-de-Grace, Md.; a daughter,
Linda S. Jackson of Fort Plain; a sister, Dorothy Moore of Herkimer; a
brother, Harold Rogers of Oneonta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith
Funeral Home, 34 Center St., with the Rev Joseph Timlin officiating.
Burial will be in Van Hornesville Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Beverly DeMars
A graveside service for Beverly E. Demars, who died Dec. 23, 1996, is
scheduled 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hagaman Cemetery, Hagaman.

Jean Nolan
T. Jean Nolan, 73, died Monday in Livingston, Mont., after a long illness.
She was born May 11, 1923.
Survivors include five children, Gwen Novick of Clifton Park; Gregg
Nolan of Bloomsbury, N.J., Lisa LaBrake of Hagaman, Phalle Colvin of Livingston,
Mont., and David Nolan of Reigelsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
A tree was planted in her memory on Tuesday at the LaBrake home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahl Funeral Home, Bozeman,
Mont.
Raymond Bush
A graveside service for Raymond J. Bush, who died Dec. 24, 1996, is
scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Laura Wukitsch
Laura Isabel Wukitsch, 79, of Gina Marie Court, Rotterdam, died Tuesday
at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Joseph Isabel and Raffael
Veneroso. She was educated in Amsterdam and was a graduate of St. Mary's
Institute in Amsterdam. She had been a resident of Rotterdam for 42 years.
For more than 10 years, she worked for the state Department of Social
Services in Albany, retiring as a senior clerk in1983.
Mrs. Wukitsch was a member of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church and
its Women's Club.
Her husband, Julius Wukitsch Jr., whom she married May 23, 1953, died
in 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Paul J. Wukitsch of Cape Breton, Nova
Scotia, David J. Wukitsch of Glenmont and John B. Wukitsch of Rotterdam;
a sister, Rose Veneroso of Albany; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral service is 8:15 a.m. Friday at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway
and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Gabriel's Church.
Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

William Nikstenas
William W. Nikstenas, 71, of 32815 Lake Shore Blvd., Willowick, Ohio,
died April 23.
He was the son of James and Josephine Nikstenas of Amsterdam, and a
1943 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Nikstenas was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine
Corps in the Japanese Theater of Operations. After the war, he attended
the University of Buffalo, earning a bachelor of science degree in industrial
engineering. He retired from General Motors, Cleveland, in 1985 after 30
years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann Petraitis of Indooroopilly,
Queensland, Australia, and Donna Nykas of Cleveland; a son, William V.
Nikstenas of Los Angeles; a brother, Edward Z. Nichols of Framingham, Mass.;
three grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were April 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic
Church, Cleveland. Interment was in All Souls' Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.

Phyllis Casano
Phyllis J. Casano, 82, of 465 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, died Tuesday
afternoon at Albany Medical Center after a short illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1914, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Dominic
and Agnes Vetri Montano. She was a 1932 of Gloversville High School. She
moved to Amsterdam in 1939 where she had since resided.
She was a homemaker , a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and
the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Casano was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in
Amsterdam.
On Oct. 11, 1940, she married Dr. Andrew A. Casano. He died Sept. 29,
1976.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. A. Andrew Casano of Albany and David
Casano of Amsterdam; a sister, Josephine Martin of Gloversville; seven
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc.,
171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at
9:15 a.m., at St. Mary's Roman Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Elvira Marsicano
Elvira Marsicano, 87, of Tryon Street, Amsterdam, died this morning
at Sentara-Leigh Memorial Hospital, Virginia Beach, Va., after a long illness.
