Richard M. Holland, 35, of Johnstown, died Monday at Nathan Littauer
Hospital.
Born in Herkimer, he was the son of Elizabeth Lawton of Johnstown.
He was employed as a press operator at UNI Distribution in Gloversville.
Mr. Holland was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
He married Cheryl Wojciechowski Holland on March 7, 1990.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two daughters,
Gillian Theresa and Jerica Elizabeth Holland, both of Johnstown; his step-father,
David Lawton of Johnstown; five sisters, Regina Klock of Gloversville;
Gloria Benedict of Tampa, Fla., Edwina Curtis and Mary Holland, both of
Buffalo, and Deborah Slezak of Rochester; and two brothers, Edward Holland
of Northville and John Holland of Tampa, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the A.G. Cole Funeral
Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown. Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland Children Scholarship
Fund, in care of Central National Bank, 210 N. Comrie Ave., Johnstown.
Elizabeth DeMagistris
Mrs. Elizabeth DeMagistris, 82, of Charles Street, Johnstown, died Tuesday
at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.
She was born and educated in Johnstown.
She was a glove worker for the Bachner Glove Co., retiring in 1976.
Mrs. DeMagistris was a member of the Wells House Auxiliary.
She married Michael DeMagistris on Aug. 31, 1935.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sisters, Sophie Smith
and Eleanor Simek, both of Johnstown; and two brothers, Joseph and Francis
"Butch" Simek, both of Johnstown.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions be made to the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance
Corps.

Earl Groat
Earl H. Groat, 78, of Sinclair Road, Edinburg, died Monday at Nathan
Littauer Hospital.
Born in Marchville, he was employed at General Electric in Schenectady,
retiring in 1972.
Mr. Groat was a member of the Air National Guard Squadron 109 during
World War II.
He was an honorary member of the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
His first wife, Clara Secor Groat, died in 1952.
He later married Marie Capra Groat.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Earl D. Groat of West
Glenville; two daughters, Joan Fendick of Scotia and Sue Vendlands of Saratoga
Springs; two step-daughters, Louise Smith of Northville and Lynn Ross of
California; a brother, Doug Groat of Northville; two sisters, Dorothy Dupont
of Arizona and Evelyn Dahlhoff of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Northville
Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery.
A calling hour will be conducted from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northhampton Ambulance Squad
or the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department.
James Glover
James A. Glover, 89, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer
Hospital.
He was born in Worcester, England. He lived in Gloversville most of
his life and attended local schools.
Mr. Glover was employed by The Leader Herald, first as a paperboy, later
as a typographer and finally as composing room foreman. He retired in 1976.
He was a former member of the Foresters and the Fulton County Typographical
Union.
He was married to Evelyn Fennel Glover and was later married Grace D.
Glover.
Survivors include a son, Jon M. glover of Gloversville; a brother, Frank
Glover of Gloversville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hollenbeck
Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville. Burial will be in Prospect Hill
Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Leland Humphrey
Leland J. Humphrey, 81, of County Route 154, Gloversville, died Tuesday
at his home.
Born in Churubuscom he was educated in Ellenburg and moved to Fulton
County in 1977.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Humphrey was employed as a television engineer at NBC for 30 years,
retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the NBC Retirees of Florida and the Adirondack CB
Club.
He married Dorothy Zeiger Humphrey on Nov. 6, 1943.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Robert Lee Humphrey
of Fort Johnson; a brother, Merrill Humphrey of Malone; one grandchild
and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck
Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville. Burial will be in Prospect Hill
Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frank Gauvreau
Frank Gauvreau, 67, of Summit Avenue, Schenectady, died Wednesday at
St. Clare's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Colonie, he was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed as a construction worker at the Esposito Construction
Co. in Colonie for 45 years, retiring in the early 1980s.
He was married to Harriet Adams Gauvreau, who died March 30.
Survivors include seven sons, Frank Gauvreau Jr. of Altamont, John,
Ralph, Kenneth, Robert, Keith and Raymond Gauvreau, all of Schenectady;
a daughter, Arlene Gauvreau of Schenectady; four sisters, Genevieve Denison
of Galway, Thelma Insero and Lottie Reed, both of Schenectady, and Joan
Guavreau of Hadley; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
A calling hour will be conducted from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Griswold
Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady.
Albert Garback
Albert Garback, 73, of East Fulton Street, Gloversville, died Wednesday
at his home.
Born in Reesville, W. Va., he was a graduate of Montpelier High School
in Vermont and Bentley College. He also studied accounting at Bryant &
Stratton Business School in Boston.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was employed at the George J. Dorfman accounting firm at one time
and later served 20 years as secretary and treasurer of the B. William
DeLia Construction Co. of Northville. For the past several years, he was
consulting accountant for the Pearl Leather & Finishing Co. of Johnstown.
Mr. Garback was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion;
past exalted ruler of the Elks Club and a former member of the Knights
of Columbus.
A winner of several Fulton County golf championships, he was a member
of the Pine Brook, Nick Stoner and Kingsboro golf clubs.
He married Esther Dobey Garback on July 17, 1943.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Karen S. Garback
of Gloversville and Kim Garback Diaz of Corinth; three brothers, Theodore
M. Garback of Montpelier, Rudolph M. Garback of Barre, Vt., and John Garback
of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Diana Garback Edson of Montpelier and one
granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at
Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck
Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.

of the American Diabetes Association.
Patricia Barber
Patricia J. Barber, 60, of Keeseville, died Tuesday at the Champlain
Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh.
Born March 19, 1937 in Keeseville, she was the daughter of Charles and
Louise Bourgeois Rennell.
She was a waitress at McLeans Family Restaurant in Keeseville and also
worked at the Mohawk Furniture store in Broadalbin.
She was a member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 Auxiliary.
Her husband, Howard Si Barber, died in 1990. She was also predeceased
by a son, Ricky Barber, in 1966.
Survivors include two daughters, Wendy and Debbie Barber, both of Broadalbin;
a son, John "Jack" Barber of Edinburg; two grandsons, one granddaughter
and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's
Cemetery in Keeseville, with the Msgr. Joseph Aubin officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center
in Plattsburgh.
Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home, Keeseville.
Evelyn Conrad
Mrs. Evelyn S. Conrad, 87, formerly of Amsterdam, died Wednesday at
the Phoebe Nursing Home in Allentown, Pa.
Born Dec. 15, 1909 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of Earl O. and
Elizabeth Moore Stowitts. She moved to Amsterdam in 1914 and was a graduate
of Amsterdam High School and the Oneonta Normal School.
She was employed as an elementary teacher in the Amsterdam school system
for many years.
She was a former member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Conrad was also a former member of the New York State and National
Retired Teachers Association, as well as the Amsterdam Chapter of the Retired
Teachers Association and the Congress of Parents and Teachers. She also
served as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, and was a Red Cross nurse's
aide during World War II.
She married Dr. Joseph W. Conrad on June 23, 1934. He died Sept. 30,
1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert S. Harris Jr. of Allentown;
two sisters, Mrs. Richard W. Porteus of Dryden and Mrs. Samuel Howitt of
Northville; two grandsons, two great-grandsons and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Funeral services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Amsterdam.
Gloria Dopp
Mrs. Gloria Dopp, 66, of Spring Street, Gloversville, died Thursday
at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
Born and educated in Gloversville, she was a lifelong area resident.
She worked in the packaging department at the Grandoe Glove Co., retiring
in 1983.
She was a member of the Fremont Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Dopp of Gloversville and Joanne
Hohenforst of Johnstown;a brother, John D. Barnes Jr., of Las Vegas, and
three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Union Rural Cemetery,
Mayfield.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Winifred Robinson
Winifred A. Robinson, 84, of Jockey Street, Galway, died Thursday at
the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy after a long illness.
She was born in Galway and educated in local schools before graduating
from the Oneonta Normal School.
She was a teacher in Mineola for many years before retiring in 1970.
Miss Robinson was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter
369.
During World War II, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross
in Europe.
She is survived by a brother, Curtis Robinson of Troy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the Wheeler Funeral
Home, 25 Hyde Blvd., Ballston Spa. Burial will be in Galway Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Florence Gale
Mrs. Florence Price Gale, 80, of Manlius and formerly of Colonie, died
Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
Born in Utica, she worked at the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills in Amsterdam
before moving to the Albany area in the 1950s. She later worked for the
A&P Bakery Outlet and then worked as a seamstress at the Excello Shirt
Co. in Troy and lastly worked as a food service worker at the legislative
complex in Albany.
She moved to the Syracuse area in 1987.
Mrs. Gale was a communicant of the Church of St. Clare in Colonie.
She was married to Joseph I. Gale.
Survivors include a sister, Gladys Mosher of Amsterdam; a daughter,
Judith Berry of Syracuse, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Frederick
Funeral Home, 16 Manning Square, Albany, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie.
Calling hours will be private, at the convenience of the family.
