Miss Carmella T. Del Negro, 88, of 50 Fifth Ave., Gloversville, died
Saturday at home after a short illness.
Born May 9, 1909 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Michael and
Mary Del Negro. She was a lifelong Gloversville resident.
Miss Del Negro was a graduate of Gloversville High School.
She was employed as a bookkeeper with the family-owned Del Negro Pharmacy
in Gloversville.
Miss Del Negro was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church.
Survivors include two nephews, James M. Del Negro and Daniel J. Del
Negro, both of Gloversville; and several grand nieces, grand nephews and
cousins.
Miss Del Negro was predeceased by four brothers, James J. Del Negro,
Philip Del Negro, Michael Del Negro, and George Del Negro. She also was
predeceased by three sisters, Anna Da Corsi, Marie "Nettie" D'Errico and
Frances Del Negro.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Walrath & Bushouer,
51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday
followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mount
Carmel Church with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Francis Themm
Francis J. Themm, 79, formerly of Amsterdam, died Saturday morning at
the Fulton County Infirmary where she had been a resident since 1992.
Born May 1, 1918 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Frank and Elizabeth
Aberle Themm. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Themm first was employed at the U.S. Navy Depot in Scotia from 1941
to 1944. He later was employed by the Montgomery County Highway Department,
retiring several years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam.
Survivors include his sister, Edna A. Themm of Amsterdam; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Betz Funeral Home,
171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Flora Mancini
Mrs. Flora Barletta Mancini, 67, of East Main Street, Fonda, died Saturday
morning at her home following a long illness.
Born June 8, 1930 in Sezze, Province of Latina, Italy, she was the daughter
of Alessandro and Stella DiProspero Barletta. She had lived in Fonda since
1947.
Mrs. Mancini first was employed by the Premier Glove Co. of Fultonville
for 18 years. She then was employed by the White Mop Wringer Co., also
of Fultonville, for 21 years before retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Glen Mohawk Senior Citizens and the Fonda-Fultonville
Booster Club.
Mrs. Mancini was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church
of Fonda, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the church. She also
was a member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Cecilia's Church.
Survivors include her husband, Giovanni Mancini, whom she married Dec.
10, 1950; three sons, Joseph Mancini and Alex Mancini, both of Fonda, and
John Mancini of Amsterdam; three brothers, Salvatore Barletta of Fonda,
Franchino Barletta of Roca Gorga, Italy, and Dante Barletta of Sezze, Italy;
six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral
Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.
Services will be 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed at
9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic
Church, Fonda.
Interment will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam,
care of the funeral home.
Mary Melnyczuk
Mary Melnyczuk, 100, a resident at the Edward L. Wilkinson, died Friday
at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Born in Delejow, Poland, March 25, 1897, she was the daughter of Joseph
and Josephine Borodajkiewicz Ziemianski. She was educated in Poland and
came to Amsterdam in 1913 at the age of 16.
Mrs. Melnyczuk was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist and its Ladies
Rosary Society.
Her husband, Michael Melnyczuk, whom she married June 3, 1916, died
May 15, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, John Milnyuk and William Milnyczuk, both
of Amsterdam; a daughter, Ann Sum of Amsterdam; a sister in Poland; eight
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Melnyczuk was predeceased by two grandchildren, Deborah Sum Colon
and Michael Milnyuk.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. today at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral
Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.
Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed at 9:30
a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church
of St. John the Baptist.
Thomas Sajta
Mr. Thomas Sajta, 54, of Blue Ridge Court, died Wednesday evening at
home.
Born June 27, 1943 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Alexander
and Winifred Skonieczny Sajta. He was educated in local schools and graduated
from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Sajta was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation
and Finance.
He moved to Virginia in 1989.
Mr. Sajta was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
He worked to obtain the programming of the EWTN Network in Virginia.
Survivors include a brother, John J. Sajta of Amsterdam; and several
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus School, the Shrine
of the North American Martyrs, Auriesville, or to EWTN of Manassas, Va.,
care of the funeral home.
Harold Johnson
Harold V. Johnson Sr., 77, of Argersinger Road, Fultonville, died Wednesday
at home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 26, 1919 in Lykers Corners, he was the son of Vigil and Ursula
Beddles Johnson. Mr. Johnson attended Hallsville School.
Mr. Johnson was a truck driver for Peter's Oil Co. in Fonda before retiring
in 1983. He also operated a small engine repair business from his home.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in
Europe.
Mr. Johnson was a Protestant.
He was a member of the Farm City Bowling League in Johnstown.
He married Mary Crowder Johnson on Jan. 3, 1943.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Harold Johnson
Jr. of Peoria, Ill., and Robert Johnson of Broadalbin; a daughter, Barbara
Bubniak of Amsterdam; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Jackson
& Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville. Burial will be in Maple
Avenue Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
Josephine Calabrese
Mrs. Josephine M. Calabrese, 92, of Forest Hill Towers, Gloversville,
died Tuesday at Highgate Manor in Troy.
Born in Gloversville, Mrs. Calabrese was a resident of Highgate Manor
for the past two years.
She worked for the Rubin Glove Co. for several years. Most recently,
Mrs. Calabrese worked for Mario Papa & Sons Glove Co., retiring in
1977.
She was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church
and a member of its Catholic Daughters and Altar Society.
Mrs. Calabrese was a member of the Gloversville Senior Citizens.
She married Alfred J. Calabrese in 1927. He died in 1958.
Survivors include a son, Alfred J. Calabrese of Waterford; a brother,
Philip Genatiempo of Gloversville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A prayer service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at the John W. Finocan
Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Cremation
will take place in Parkview Crematory, Schenectady, with burial at 11 a.m.
Wednesday in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 this evening at the funeral home.

Pasquale Conte
Pasquale J. "Pat" Conte, 67, formerly of Maplewood Avenue, Johnstown,
died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a long
illness.
Born and educated in Fonda, Mr. Conte was a short-order cook for several
area diners and a self-employed caterer at one time. Subsequently, he worked
for the Karg Bros. Tannery, retiring in 1989.
He was a member and usher for St. Patrick's Church.
Mr. Conte was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 239, where
he previously served as a grand knight.
He married Eleanor Antis Conte on Sept. 25, 1948. She died in 1986.
Survivors include three daughters, Angela Sweet, Patricia Conte and
Pamela Roblee, all of Johnstown; two sons, Alan and Mark Conte, both of
Johnstown; a sister, Lucille Knudsen of Amsterdam; 11 grandchildren and
a great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday
at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the A.G. Cole
Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Alice Burgess
Mrs. Alice Mates Burgess, 81, of Clyde Avenue, Rotterdam, died Monday
at Ellis Skilled Nursing Facility in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Burgess was a lifelong area resident.
For several years, she was a sales clerk for Woolworth's in downtown
Schenectady.
Mrs. Burgess was a member of Trinity Reformed Church.
Survivors include two sons, Albert Mates of Thomasville, N.C., and Thomas
Mates III of Rotterdam; two brothers, Albert Simkins of Charlton and James
Simkins of Delanson; a sister, Virginia Fogg of Schenectady; three grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 this morning at the Bond Funeral
Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Burial will be in Schenectady
Memorial Park.
A calling hour will be prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joseph Stetin
Joseph John Stetin, 87, of Fort Plain, died Wednesday at Marchand Manor
Adult Home in Sharon Springs.
Mr. Stetin was born in Romania, and was a lifetime resident of Sharon
Springs before moving to Fort Plain.
For many years, he was the owner and chef of Dave's Restaurant.
Mr. Stetin was a lock tender for the New York State Barge Canal, retiring
in 1975. Also, he operated Cold Spring Farm in Sharon Springs at one time.
His wife, Barbara Lee Stetin, died in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Robert Stetin of Fort Plain; a brother, Milen
Stetin of Buffalo; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lappeus Funeral
Home, 32 Park St., Sharon Springs. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lucy Pabis
Mrs. Lucy Kolod Pabis, 92, of the Wilkinson Residential Health Care
Facility, Amsterdam, died Wednesday after a long illness.
Born Oct. 29, 1904 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Sam and Zofia
Bazaznicki Kolod. Mrs. Pabis was educated in Amsterdam.
She was employed by the Mohawk Carpet Co. and also as a self-employed
beautician.
She was a member of the Amsterdam Bowling League.
Mrs. Pabis was a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church and
its Rosary Society.
Survivors include a son, Jerome Pabis of Amsterdam; five grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
a son, Joseph Pabis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj
Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wilkinson Adult Day Care Program
in care of the funeral home.
Clara Johnson
Mrs. Clara Louise Foss Johnson, 98, formerly of Amsterdam, died Wednesday
a the Harding Nursing Home, where she resided since 1995.
Born Sept. 22, 1899 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of William and
Ida Kath Foss.
Mrs. Johnson was educated in Amsterdam, and until her retirement, she
was employed by the Chalmers Button Co., and the Chalmers Knitting Co.,
both of Amsterdam.
She was a member of the former Zion Lutheran Church of Amsterdam, where
she also was a Sunday school teacher; and Scotia United Methodist Church.
Her husband, John Johnson, died in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Johnson of Bridgewater and Bentley
Johnson of Wellington, Fla.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,
10 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Riley Mortuary,
110 Division St., Amsterdam. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes
Hill.
A calling hour will precede the servi ce at the funeral home.
