Joan Stainsby
TROY - Joan (Costello) Stainsby of Troy died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Crystal Lake, IL, in the presence of her son and daughter.
She graduated from Lansingburg High School in 1947 and attended Mildred Elley College.
A devoted wife, she married James P. Stainsby in 1953. They lived most of their lives in Troy, where Joan was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Church, a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital and a member of the Red Hat Society.
A loving mother, she raised two children while working part-time at WTEN news, followed by Rhinebeck Lodge, Leonard Hospital’s outpatient rehab and finally H&R Block.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Tim) Fogarty and son Jeffery Stainsby; grandchildren Michael and Erin Fogarty; her niece, two nephews and a cousin. She was preceded in death by her husband James P. Stainsby; parents, Pauline (Arnold) Foster and William Costello; and stepfather Everett Foster.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Of Victory Church in Troy at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 1.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The American Lung Association.

VENICE, FL - Henry Zampier died suddenly at his home in Venice, FL, on April 26, 2009. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Henry at 9 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 298 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. in Latham.

Penny L. Carkner Albright, 41
Troy - Penny L. Carkner Albright, 41, of 48 Desson Avenue, died peacefully
Thursday April 19, 2001, at St. Peter's Hospital Albany after a brief illness.
Born in Albany, she is survived by her devoted husband of 15 years Norman F.
Albright; son Kyle Jonathan Albright, one year old and was daughter of Patricia A.
Pasqualitti Carkner of Wynantskill and the late Richard A. Carkner. She was a
loving wife and mother. She was raised in East Greenbush, resided in Troy for the
past 15 years and was a graduate of Columbia High School and St. Rose College.
Penny was a teacher at the Poestenkill Elementary School. Prior to that she was the
director and administrator of the George Washington After School Program and was
a member, Sunday school superintendent and teacher at Christ Church United
Methodist in Troy. She was very active in community events and the Diabetes Crop
Walk (Andrew's Army).
Survivors in addition to her husband, son and mother include her maternal
grandfather Julius Pasqualitti of South Schodack ; a sister Julianne Suscietto of
Averill Park; four brothers Richard L. Carkner of Sand Lake, David A. Carkner of
Schenectady, Daniel A. Carkner of Castleton and Glen S. Carkner of Schodack and
24 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00AM from Christ Church United
Methodist State St. and Fifth Avenue Troy with Rev. James A. Fenimore, Pastor
and Rev. C. Joseph Ingraham, Pastor Emeritus, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at
Maple Avenues in Troy on Sunday from 4-9pm.
Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
Contributions may be made in memory of Penny Albright to the Poestenkill
Elementary School PTA for purchase of library materials.

Virginia H. Moon Bell, 86
Rensselaer - Virginia H. Moon Bell, 86, of Branson Manor, died Saturday at Albany
Medical Center Hospital Albany, after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Jacob H. and Jennie M. Castle Moon and
wife of the late William Bell. She had resided in Troy area most of her life and was
a graduate of Troy High School.
Mrs. Bell was employed at Cluett, Peabody & Company for 20 years retiring in
1969.
She was a member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy and the
American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include her daughter Marilyn J. Vail of Largo, FL; two granddaughters
Hazel M. Hilts of Florida and Helen Bailey of Galway; two great grandchildren
Brittany Nicole Hilts of Florida and Emily Janae Bailey of Galway and several
nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service which will be held
Tuesday at 2:00pm at Elmwood Hill Cemetery Belle Avenue in Troy with Rev.
Peter Kelly, Pastor of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Bell to the memorial fund of Pawling
Avenue United Methodist Church 520 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY 12180.

Mildred R. Miller Buckley, 68
Averill Park - Mildred R. Miller Buckley, 68, of Thais Road, died Sunday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.
Born in Averill Park she was daughter of the late George and Florence Sowalsky Miller and wife of the late Martin J. Buckley Jr. She was raised in Poestenkill and resided in Averill Park most of her life and was a graduate of Averill Park High School.
Mrs. Buckley was a file clerk for the medical records department at Samaritan Hospital in Troy for 8 years retiring 2 years ago. Prior to that she was a pharmacists assistant at the Lake Pharmacy in West Sand Lake and worked at John L. Thompson in Troy many years ago. Her main joy was her family, with her focus as mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
She was a member of the Sand Lake Senior Citizens, American Association of Retired Persons and was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and a member of its Altar Rosary Society.
Survivors include two daughters Theresa Maloney and husband James of Wynantskill and Kathleen Buckley of Albany; a son Michael J. Buckley and wife Joanne of Guilderland; a brother Lawrence Miller of Poestenkill; a sister Dorothy Johnson and husband Charles of Sitka, Alaska; a brother-in-law Patrick Buckley and wife Inge of Boulder, CO; 5 grandchildren Shannon and Thomas Lansing, Daniel Maloney and Sara and Chad Buckley and a nephew Christopher Buckley. She was predeceased by a sister Gertrude Miller.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 8:45am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9PM.
Interment St. Henry's Cemetery in Averill Park.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Buckley to the Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center 421 West Columbia Street Cohoes, NY 12047.

Catherine A. Peckham Edwards, 86
North Greenbush - Catherine A. Peckham Edwards, 86, of Pine Avenue
Wynantskill, died Tuesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.
Born in Cropseyville, she was daughter of the late Chester A. and S. Gertrude
Miller Peckham and wife of the late Elwood E. Edwards who died in March. She
had resided the past 60 years in North Greenbush.
Mrs. Edwards was employed at Cluett, Peabody & Company in Troy and later was
a clerk at the former Doughney's Market in Troy.
She was a 75 year member of the Second Baptist Church in Troy and later Mt. Ida
Community Baptist Church in Troy and a member of the Marie Whitman
Missionary Society and Wynantskill Seniors.
Survivors include two daughters Judith Edwards Goyer and husband Thomas of
Wynantskill and Nancy Edwards Casteras and husband John of Colonia, NJ; a
brother Daniel J. Peckham and wife Ruth of Wynantskill; two granddaughters
Wendy Goyer-DiGioacchino and husband Anthony of Ballston Spa and Denise
Goyer DeMarco and husband James E. of East Greenbush; two great
granddaughters Isabella and Sophia DiGioacchino of Ballston Spa and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.
corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue Troy with Rev. Douglas Thomson, Pastor of
Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at
the funeral home Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in
Troy. Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Edwards to Mt. Ida

Michael J. 'Mickey' Callahan, 41
North Greenbush - Michael J. 'Mickey' Callahan Jr., 41, of Marion Avenue, died
Monday at the home of his mother and stepfather on Evergreen Terrace in
Ballston Lake, after a long illness.
Born in Albany, he was son of Helen F. Mosher Callahan Gallagher of Ballston
Lake and of the late Michael J. Callahan Sr. and step son of Robert J. Gallagher
of Ballston Lake. He had resided in the Troy and Wynantskill areas all his life and
was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.
Mr. Callahan was a self employed painting contractor in the area for several years.
Survivors in addition to his parents include a sister Mary Lee Callahan Plekan of
Wynantskill; two aunts Georgeann Bailey of Poestenkill and Joyce Cossack of
Averill Park; several nieces and nephews Bruce Michael Plekan, Krystina and
Jerrod Plekan, David A. Bornt Jr. and Samantha, Jamie and Kelsey Bornt. He was
predeceased by a sister Maureen Callahan Bornt.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 8:45am from the Bryce Funeral Home,
Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from St.
Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh where a Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3-5 and
7-9PM.
Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery in Troy.
