MARIE CLAIRE DUMOND DERBY, 87
Wynantskill, NY - Marie Claire Dumond Derby, 87, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy,
after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Thomas Derby.
Born in Lawrence, MA, she was daughter of the late Octave and Angelina Levesque Dumont.
She was a direct descendant of Jacques Gueret-Dumont and Robert Levesque of Normandie, FR.
Marie was educated at Sacred Heart School in South Lawrence and studied piano with a protege
of a student of the great Paderewsky. She was an accomplished pianist.
Mrs. Derby was employed many years ago by the Pemberton, Washington and Shawsheen Textile
Mills in the Lawrence and North Andover area. She has been a resident of the Troy area since
1947. Mrs. Derby served as cafeteria manager for the Wynantskill School District until her
retirement in 1974.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Janet T. Derby of North Greenbush and Mrs. Gregory
(Theresa-"Terry") Seleman of Loudonville; one sister Isabelle LaRo5e of Lawrence, 2 cherished
grandchildren Jonathan and Casey Seleman and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was
predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters: Alma Houle, Alice Boains, Ann Buckley; Rene, Wilfrid,
Arthur, George and Octave Dumond Jr.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 9 am from the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of
Pawling & Maple Avenues, Troy, and at 9:30 from St. Michael the Archangel Church, Williams
Rd. Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.

Rose A. Brust Dickinson, 90
Brunswick - Rose A. Brust Dickinson, 90, of Country Way Apartments, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.
Born in Raymertown, she was daughter of the late Waldo and Alta Bornt Brust and wife of the late J. Leslie Dickinson. She was raised in Raymertown and resided in Lansingburgh as a child, working as a nanny after school. She resided in Wynantskill until 1981 when she moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida, moving back to Brunswick 2 years ago. She attended Lansingburgh High School.
Mrs. Dickinson was employed at Merkle and Gelman and the Troy Covering Shop in Troy as a salesperson for 15 years. She later worked as a bus driver for 20 years with B.O.C.E.S. in Rensselaer County, driving Wynantskill children, from which she retired.
She was an active member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill and a member of Home Bureau of the church. She was a member of the Tuesday Nighters of Hi-Way Bowl in Wynantskill and a volunteer at 4 Doors in West Sand Lake. While residing in Florida she volunteered at the Sebastian Hospital and, library and gift shop and was a volunteer driver for seniors. She was a member of the Rosland United Methodist Church in Barefoot Bay, Florida and volunteered at its Thrift Shop .
Survivors include two sons, James L. Dickinson Jr. and wife Janet of Wynantskill and Dexter B. Dickinson and wife Sandra of Raymertown; a daughter, Patricia Foster of Westmere; four sisters, Norma Zyck of Binghamton, Iva Bonesteel of Raymertown, Elva Golinski of Raymertown and Beryl Krogh of Brunswick; three brothers, David Brust of Missouri, Ronald Brust of Valley Falls and Kenneth Brust of Raymertown; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Elton Brust and two sisters, Edna Cushman and Marjorie Wait.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:30AM from the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill Church St. and Main Ave. Wynantskill with Rev. Chad R. Schuitema, Pastor., officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Sunday from 5-8pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

David Millard DeMers, 72
Troy - David Millard DeMers, 72, of Troy, died suddenly Monday, December 30, 2002, at the home of Mr. Barry Warren, Westover Road where he was employed as a personal assistant to Mr. Warren and was his close friend. Prior to that he was a popular caddy for many years at the Troy Country Club.
He was born in Troy on August 30, 1930 and was the son of the late William H. and Ruth Millard DeMers and was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School.
David was a member of the Odd Fellows in Cropseyville, the Troy Senior Center and Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills (formerly the Memorial United Methodist Church in Sycaway). He especially enjoyed traveling to many locations in the United States with Mr. Warren. He served in the U.S. Navy for a brief period of time.
David is survived by his brother Captain William H. DeMers USN (Retired) of Pinehurst, North Carolina and two nieces, a nephew, four grand nieces and two grand nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Alice DeMers who died in 1928 and his grandparents Almon Hopkins and Jesse Parsons Millard and William Henry and Agnes Isabelle Demers.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 1:00pm from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. David Martin, Pastor of the Hope United Methodist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 noon-1pm prior to the service. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
Contributions may be made in memory of David DeMers to the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (OCF), 337 Notch Hill Road, North Bradford, CT 06471 (www.ocfoundation.org) or the Troy Senior Center in Troy. David enjoyed friendships with many people and was a special person.

David A. Canfield Sr., 55
West Sand Lake - David A. Canfield Sr., 55, of Route 150, died suddenly Wednesday at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was son of Josephine Fisher Canfield of Troy and the late James F. Canfield and devoted husband for over 36 years of Karen L. Poirier Canfield. He was raised on the East Side of Troy and resided the past 30 years in West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School class of 1965 and a Graduate Machinist from the Apprentice Program at the Watervliet Arsenal.
Mr. Canfield retired in 2000 as a procurement specialist from the Watervliet Arsenal after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Federal Managers Association and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Several years ago, he was active in the Albia Bowling League and most recently the Mars Golf League.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include two sons, David A. Canfield Jr. (Tara) of Boca Raton, FL and Anthony D. Canfield of West Sand Lake and his dear friend Bridget Sulham ; a daughter, Darcy L. Pitcheralle (Christian) of East Greenbush; two brothers James F. Canfield (Patricia) of Troy and Robert J. Canfield (Carole) of Troy and two granddaughters of 'Poppy', Marin Canfield and Alyssa Pitcheralle. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake and at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8PM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.

Joseph E. Campbell, 82
Defreestville - Joseph E. Campbell, 82, of Douglas Avenue, retired area optician, died Sunday at Samuel Stratton V A Medical Center Albany of natural causes.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Daniel J. and Anna Nagengast Campbell and husband for 60 years of Ruth Barnum Campbell. He had resided in Defreestville for many years and attended Siena College and was a graduate of the Franklin Arsenal Opticianal School in Philadelphia.
Joseph first worked as an optician with Dr. C.J. Daley in Albany and later opened his own business, Campbell Opticians in Albany and Rensselaer, where he practiced for forty years, retiring 11 years ago.
An Army veteran of World War II, Joseph was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Commanders Club. He was also a former member of the Albany Junior Chamber of Commerce, The Aurania Club and Cordial Greens Country Club. He was an active member of Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Defreestville where he served as Youth Fellowship Advisor for ten years.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Mrs. William (Sarah) 'Sally' Becker of Greenwich and Nancy Petteys and husband Edward of Defreestville; two sons, William J. Campbell and wife Andrea of Delhi, NY and David Robert Campbell of Defreestville; four grandchildren, Johanna Prince, Andrew and Benjamin Campbell and Kate Becker and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends, Fred and Jane Muhlfelder of Loudonville and Dr. Kerry Harbeck of Delmar. He was predeceased by two sisters, Nan Barry and Rita Sullivan and two brothers, Dr. Daniel J. Campbell and Robert Campbell.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM from Gardner Earl Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery Troy with Rev. William H. O'Dell, Pastor of the Grafton Baptist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Tuesday from 5-8PM. Interment Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

John P. Buckley, 79
Troy - John P. Buckley, 79, former City Manager of Troy, of Locust Avenue, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late John F. and Frances Callahan Buckley. He had resided in Troy most of his life and was a graduate of La Salle Institute and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Buckley was employed for 18 years as the Commissioner of the Department of Public Utilities and initiated the building of Troy's modern water system. For 15 years he served as Troy's City Manager during which time he was responsible for numerous civic improvements including the construction of the new City Hall and the Riverfront Park.
He was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and was a Past President of the Society of the Friends of St. Patrick, a life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernian's, a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks, the Noble-Callahan American Legion Post, Korean War Veteran's Association, American Water Works Association and a member of the Board of Directors of La Salle Institute. He was the recipient of the Troy "Man of the Year" award in 1979 and the Rensselaer Key Award in 1990. Mr. Buckley was a US Navy veteran serving as a Navy Carrier Pilot in World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by a cousin Michael Case of Watertown, MA. He was predeceased by a sister Helen Buckley.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of John P. Buckley to Sacred Heart Church 310 Spring Avenue Troy, NY 12180 or the La Salle Institute Building Fund 174 Williams Road Troy, NY 12180.

Robert H. Breault, 65
Wynantskill - Robert H. Breault, 65, of Hidley Avenue, died Tuesday at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Henry L. and Adelaide Albertson Breault and husband of Janice VonFricken Breault. He had resided in Wynantskill for most of his life and was educated in Wynantskill schools.
Mr. Breault was a retired body and fender worker. He owned and operated Breault's Body Shop in Wynantskill from 1971 to '76 and later operated B&B, Breault's General Repair.
He was a member of the Custom Motorcycle Association since 1979, the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors in addition to his wife include four sons, Robert H. Breault Jr. and wife Donna of Castleton, Bret Breault and wife Cathy of Athens, William Breault and wife Micheline of Poestenkill and Joseph Breault and wife Donna of Freehold; a daughter, Bunny Snide and husband Lee of Swanton, VT; a brother, Peter W. Breault and wife Linda of Wynantskill; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue Troy with Rev. James E. Clark, Pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9PM.
Interment Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bob to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
