Poestenkill - Frank Kadara Dyer Sr., of West Sand Lake Road, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Lansingburgh, he was son of the late William H. and Josephine Coon Dyer and husband for 67 years of Bertha Jackson Dyer. He had resided in Lansingburgh and in Poestenkill the past 64 years and was educated at Lansingburgh schools and DeVry Institute for radio and tv repair.
Mr. Dyer was employed at the A&P Tea Company in Averill Park and Rensselaer for 47 years retiring in 1975 as a manager.
He was an active member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake where he was Sunday school treasurer, Trustee, usher and on the Administrative Board for numerous years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines and on the USS Hyades as a ships cook.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Robert Dyer and wife Nancy of West Sand Lake, a brother Robert Dyer of Latham, a daughter-in-law Donna Dyer of Poestenkill; six grandchildren Frank D. Dyer, Renee Mack and Daniel, Russell, Chad and Leslie Dyer; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Frank K. Dyer Jr. and three brothers William, Harry and Frederick Dyer.
Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. West Sand Lake . There will be no calling hours. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie. James H. Deyoe, 79
Schenectady - James H. Deyoe, 79, of Howard Street, died Sunday in Schenectady after being stricken at his home.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Elmer C. and Leola Birch Deyoe and husband of Ruth Wheeler Deyoe for 56 years, celebrating their anniversary on Saturday. He had resided in Halfmoon for 38 years and the past 16 years in Schenectady and was attended Troy Schools.
Mr. Deyoe was a bus driver for the Capital District Transportation Authority for 23 years retiring in 1980 and previously worked with his father as a truck driver for Deyoe Express.
He was a member of the American Legion in Halfmoon and the First Baptist Church of Schenectady and an Army veteran of World War II serving in Germany.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Henry J. Deyoe and wife Ellen of Schenectady; a daughter Linda R. Bacon of Ballston Spa; a brother Edward Deyoe of South Glens Falls; a sister Kathryn Retz of Washington Island, WI; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30PM at the Gardner Earl Crematory Chapel Oakwood Cemetery Troy with Rev. Carole Miller, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Schenectady, officiating. Ruth Bornt Christensen, 97
Troy - Ruth Bornt Christensen, 97, of Marvin Avenue and formerly of Sixth Avenue Lansingburgh, died Wednesday at Hallmark Nursing Centre Troy, after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Edward and Henrietta Lewis Bornt and wife of the late Howard H. Christensen. She had resided all her life in Troy.
Mrs. Christensen worked in Frear's Department Store for 19 years as a buyer many years ago.
She was a life member of Faith Lutheran Church and a past president of the Women's Guild.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Shirley Christensen of Troy; two grandsons Donald M. Christensen of Troy and Mark D. Christensen of Troy; three great grandchildren Corey, Adam and Logan Christensen all of Troy and her caregiver Rene Mosley of Troy. She was predeceased by a son Donald H. Christensen.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 12 Noon from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Stephen L. Cordes, Pastor of the Faith Lutheran Church, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11am-12 Noon prior to the service.
Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Elizabeth R. Commiskey Carter
Albany - Elizabeth R. Commiskey Carter, 97, of the Teresian House Washington Avenue Extension, died Friday at the home after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, she was daughter of the late Francis Waldo and Mary Brady Commiskey and wife of Charles Carter who died in 1960. She had resided on Thurlow Terrace in Albany for over 20years and was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory and Saint Angela Hall in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Carter was retired from the Albany office of the late Drs. Arthur Wallingford Sr. and Alex Gabriels and previously worked in the admitting office of Albany Medical Center.
She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, Capital District Medical Assistants and a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Albany.
Survivors include four nieces Lucille McGrady of Brunswick, Rosemary Jones of Three Bridges, NJ, Carol Yattow of Waterford and Pat Finn of Troy; five nephews John Cunningham of Los Altos, CA, Francis Schwartz of McLean, VA, Edward Schwartz of Clarksville, IN, Michael Carter of Troy and J. Warren Carter of Sebastian, FL; many great nieces and nephews and her beloved friends Bill Lockhart and family in Albany. She was predeceased by two sisters Mary Cunningham and Katherine Schwartz and two brothers Francis and Eugene Commiskey; a niece Joan Duffy and three nephews Dr. John Schwartz , Joseph Schwartz and Charles Carter III and a beloved friend Alice Lockhart.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00AM at the Chapel at the Teresian House 200 Washington Avenue Extension Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Howard C. Campbell, 74
Troy - Howard C. Campbell, 74, of Tenth Street, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital Troy after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Francis and Helen Tinney Campbell and longtime companion of Karen R. Maloney of Troy. He had resided in Troy all his life and attended Troy schools.
Mr. Campbell was a truck driver for the New York State Department of Transportation for many years, retiring 25 years ago.
He was a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks and an Air Force veteran.
Survivors in addition to his companion include a daughter Karen Campbell; a sister Frances Chicoine of Troy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Thomas and Harold Campbell and two sisters Evelyn Galligan and Helen Mann.

Troy - Myra V. Halligan Byrnes, 70, of Vandenburgh Place, died Monday at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Frank E. and Veronica Beaudoin Halligan; step daughter of Margaret Herman Halligan and wife of the late Thomas J. Byrnes Jr. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School celebrating her 50th reunion in 1999.
Mrs. Byrnes was an operator for the New York Telephone Company in Troy for 13 years retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers, past president of the Catholic Junior Service League, West Sand Lake PTA and a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
Survivors include five daughters Peggy Byrnes of Sugar Land, TX, Beth Brown and husband Gregory of Averill Park, Maureen TenEyck and husband Mark of Averill Park, Colleen Barry and husband John of Marsellus, NY and Judi Byrnes of Troy; three sons Thomas J. Byrnes III and Lynn of Dover, Del, Michael Byrnes and Cara of Florida and Grady Byrnes and Christine of Troy; two sisters Eleanor Graber of Watervliet and Margaret Bulson of Troy; a sister-in-law Margie Halligan of Troy; two brothers-in-law Robert Koch of NJ and William Byrnes of FL; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Frank E. Halligan Jr and Henry Halligan.

East Poestenkill - Elizabeth D. Cook Collins, 77, of Columbia Hill Road, died suddenly Saturday at Samaritan Hospital Troy after being stricken at her home.
Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Garrison Cook and wife of the late Jimmie L. Collins. She was born, raised and educated in Albany and resided since 1955 in East Poestenkill.
Mrs. Collins was a custodian for Hudson Valley Community College for 17 years retiring in 1986. Prior to that she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal, for the U. S. Postal Service and B.T. Babbitt in Albany. She was volunteer and later employed by the Foster Grandparents Program for the past 4 years.
She was a member for many years of the Union Gospel Church in East Poestenkill.
Survivors include a daughter Regina Piekos and husband Stanley of Troy; two sons Thomas Lee Collins and wife Nancy of New Jersey and Douglas P. Collins Sr. and wife Joan of East Poestenkill; four brothers William Cook Jr. of Florida, Raymond Cook of Schenectady, James Cook of Evanston, WY and Richard Cook of Rensselaer; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Harold R. Matson, Pastor of the Wesleyan Church of Wynantskill, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7pm.
