Evelyn P. Van Wie, 80
VALLEY FALLS — Evelyn P. Van Wie, 80, of Valley Falls, died Thursday at the home of her daughter after a long illness.
Born in Vandusenville, Mass., she was daughter of the late Chester and Marion Reid Pixley and was the wife of Donald Van Wie of Valley Falls.
She resided in Latham and Troy before moving to Valley Falls 10 years ago.
Mrs. Van Wie was a retired cook and had worked for the Hourigan family of the former Hourigan's Department Store in Troy as well as the former Seamans Restaurant in Latham and Tom's Snack Bar in Troy. She was also a homemaker.
She was a former member of the Rensselaer County Home Bureau and was a member of the Tomhannock Methodist Church.
Survivors, besides her husband, include four daughters, Dorothy Allen and Marcia Brundige, both of Valley Falls, Hazel Napoli of Johnsonville and Shirley Redden of Troy; a son, Karl Van Wie of Naples, Fla.; two sisters, Marjorie and Edith Pixley, both of Massachusetts; a brother, Allen Pixley of Great Barrington, Mass.; 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Ave., Troy.
Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Michael E. Warley, 42
TROY — Michael Ernest Warley, 42 of Ninth Street, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Lebanon, N.H., he was son Harriet M. Franklin Warley of Troy. He had lived in Troy since 1957.
Survivors, besides his mother, include his wife, Sandra Angelica Duran Warley; two daughters, Nicolle Hatch and Tara Hiles, both of Troy; and two sisters, Janice Hoen of Rensselaer and Diana Domenick of Troy.
The funeral will be private. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home Inc. in Troy.

David J. Blair, IV, 48
NEWMARKET, N.H. — David J. Blair, IV, 48, of Nichols Avenue, formerly of Troy, died Friday.
Born in Lebanon, N.H., he was son of Mary LaValley Blair and the late David J. Blair, III.
He had resided in Troy and in Newmarket for the past 15 years.
He was a 1967 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy where he was a diocesan cross country champion for two years and a 2-mile champion in the Capital District for two years.
He received his associate degree in construction management from Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire. He attended Hudson Valley Community College in for masonry and construction technology. He also majored in philosophy at Yankton College in Yankton, S.D.
Mr. Blair was the North Eastern Golden Gloves Champion in New York state in 1972 and went on to the U.S. Olympic trials that year.
In 1985-86 he went to the South Pole with the National Science Foundation, receiving commendations from the Navy and the foundation for his accomplishments.
He worked with children through the Sons of the American Legion and DARE programs.
He was a member, past commander and service officer for the Sons of the American Legion and was on the executive board and a delegate to the state SAL Conference.
He was a member of the Lamprey Aerie of the Eagles in Newmarket.
Survivors, besides his mother, include three sisters, Kristen Holbert of Newmarket, Jo Anne Starks of Albuquerque, N.M., and Deirdre Staley of Rochester.
A memorial service was held Sunday at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 41 Exeter St., Newmarket, N.H. Burial will; be in Riverside Cemetery in Newmarket at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Helen M. Boshko, 88
MECHANICVILLE — Helen M. Boshko, 88, of Green Street, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a brief illness.
Born in Schenectady, she was daughter of the late John and Josephine Draus Maurycy and was the widow of Alexander J. Boshko, who died last Sept. 3.
She received a nursing degree from Child's Hospital in Albany in 1929.
Mrs. Boshko worked in the lab of General Electric's Schenectady facility during World War II. She had been a child's private-duty nurse.
She was a past president and former active member of the Mechanicville Parent-Teacher Association, a past member of the Mechanicville Home Bureau and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ellen Hill of Rexford; and a sister, Clara Eckdall of Emporia, Kan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home in Mechanicville.
Edna M. House, 78
COHOES — Edna M. Welch House, 78, of the Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie, formerly of Cohoes, died Sunday at the nursing home.
Born in the Northside section of Waterford, she was daughter of the late John O. and Clara Charron Welch.
Educated in Cohoes schools, she had resided in Cohoes most of her life.
Mrs. House was homemaker. She also worked for Bee Gee Records for 16 years, retiring 15 years ago.
She was a member of the Cohoes Senior Citizens and was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Cohoes.
Survivors include a son, Victor J. Rainville of Colonie; a sister, Clara Davenport of Green Island; and a grandson.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
John A. Kirpens, 75
CLIFTON PARK — John A. Kirpens, 75, of Clifton Park, died Saturday at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Mabel G. Bates Kirpens and was the husband of Geraldine E. Black Kirpens.
He had resided in Clifton Park most of his life.
Mr. Kirpens was a diesel mechanic for the Grand Union Co. in Waterford for more than 27 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors, besides his wife, include a son, William S. Kirpens of Pittsfield, Mass.; two stepsons, Scott W. and Gregg T. Herkenham, both of Stillwater; a stepdaughter, Sheila H. Cristello of Rotterdam; a grandson; and six step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9 in Clifton Park with Rev. Donald J. Gardner officiating.
A calling period will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral.
Edward M. Nally, 80
CLIFTON PARK — Edward M. Nally, Jr., 80, of Twin Lakes Apartments, died Sunday at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Worcester, Mass., he was son of the late Edward M. and Cecelia Beatty Nally.
He was a graduate of Northeastern School of Law. He resided in Clifton Park since 1964 and before that in Albany.
Mr. Nally was a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II.
He was a detective on the Worcester Police Department before becoming a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring after 21 years of service.
After retirement, he worked for Harness Tracks Security in New York City.
He was a member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks and a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Farrell Nally; five daughters, Mary Jane Whittemore of Saratoga Springs, Kathleen C. Peer of Stuyvesant, Anne E. Stuyvesant of Rockville Center, Patricia N. Randall of Ridgefield, Conn., and Susan E. McCormick of Clifton Park; a sister, Dorothy N. Brown and a brother, James Nally, both of Worcester, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:15 a.m. Thursday from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, and 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Helen L. Renaudette, 74
TROY — Helen L. Renaudette, 74, of Oakwood Avenue, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a long illness.
Born and educated in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Esdras and May Jones Renaudette.
Miss. Renaudette was self-employed as a domestic.
Survivors include three sisters, Catherine Garrow of Troy, Agnes Barber of Collinsville, Conn., and Pearl Cash of Staunton, Va.; and two brothers, Edward and Charles Renaudette, both of Plattsburgh.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 115th Street and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh. Burial will be private.
A calling hour is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Cecile M. Rivet, 89
COHOES — Cecile M. Rivet, 89, of Cohoes, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Andre and Aurore Nolin Rivet.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Cohoes. She was a life long resident of Cohoes.
Mrs. Rivet was a bookkeeper at the Hathaway and the Golden Krust bakeries for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Cohoes and a member of the Ladies of St. Ann and the Union of Prayer of St. Jean the Baptist.
She was director of the choir and had played the organ at St. Joseph's, starting when she was 16 and continued for more than 70 years, retiring several years ago.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Marra Funeral Home, Remsen and Columbia Streets in Cohoes, and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterford.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gladys H. Robinson, 90
TROY — Gladys H. Robinson, 90, died Saturday at Heritage House in Troy after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Orin and Ethel Smith Reed and was widow of Mason E. Robinson.
She was a lifelong resident of Troy.
Mrs. Robinson was a medical secretary before retiring.
She was the first recipient of the Garden Writers Association of America's Distinguished Service Award. She was the chairwoman of membership for Garden Writers Association of America for 20 years, first being elected in 1959.
The first publications which Mrs. Robinson wrote for were Gardeners Chronicle in London and Farmers Weekly in South Africa. She was one of the first writers for Plants Alive and had written for Popular Gardening, Flower Grower, Organic Gardening, Parks Floral and Flower & Garden. She was known for her writings on the Plectranthus family. She was currently a consultant for Garden Writers Association. of America.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Charlotte Ferguson of Westfield, Mass; two stepsons, Arnold Robinson of Pensacola, Fla., and Leonard Robinson of Hoosick Falls; a sister, Bernice Brown of Speigletown; two brothers, Dalton Reed of Milledgeville, Ga., and Leonard Reed of Melrose.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Ave., Lansingburgh. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
