Lillian Dusenbury
Lillian Dusenbury, the former owner of Bruno's Deli in Riverhead, died Oct. 8, 2000 at San Simeon by the Sound nursing home in Greenport. She was 77.
The daughter of Alex and Sophia Plaxa, she was born in Speonk on Nov. 27, 1922, and graduated from Eastport High School. She moved to Riverhead 50 years ago. She was a member of the Riverhead Garden Club and the ladies' auxiliaries of the Riverhead VFW and the Riverhead Fire Department. She moved from Riverhead to the nursing home two years ago.
Predeceased by her husbands, Bruno Mazgulski in 1967 and Herbert Dusenbury in 1998, she is survived by two sons, James Mazgulski of Riverhead and Dennis Mazgulski of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Wanda Pawloski of Minnesota; two brothers, Joseph Plaxa of Phoenix, Ariz., and Frank Plaxa of Stony Brook; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours were held Tuesday at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead. A funeral mass was offered Wednesday at St. Isidore's Church, Riverhead, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
Jean H. Macomber
Jean H. Macomber, who lived with her niece, Joan Miller of Riverhead, died Oct. 7, 2000 at Central Suffolk Hospital at the age of 79.
Born July 29, 1921, to Luther and Mary (Hart) Halsey on Shelter Island, Mrs. Macomber was predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 1975. She is survived by a sister, Martha Doucett of Greenport, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was private and a memorial service is to be planned on Shelter Island at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home, Riverhead.
Frank A. Gatz
Riverhead native Frank A. Gatz died on Jan. 8, 2001 at his Riverhead home. He was 69.
Born March 30, 1931, to Joseph and Leonora Gatz, Mr. Gatz was a decorated Marine, having earned silver and bronze stars and a Purple Heart. He worked with Grumman Aerospace in Calverton and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Riverhead.
He leaves his wife, Carole (nee Adamczeski); a daughter, Michelle Danowski of Florida; two sons, Mark, of Aquebogue, and Bruce, of Riverhead; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers -- Charles, of Colorado; Edward, of Aquebogue; Adam, of Riverhead; Walter, of Mattituck; and George, of Florida -- and two sisters, Celia Schneider and Eleanor Koroleski, both of Riverhead. Mr. Gatz was predeceased by brothers Louis, Joseph and John and sisters Helen Lucas and Sophie Kowalski.
The family received friends Jan. 10 and 11 at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Isidore's R.C. Church, Riverhead, to be followed by interment at St. Isidore Cemetery.
Elizabeth Normoyle
Elizabeth Normoyle of Riverhead died of natural causes on Jan. 1, 2001 at Central Suffolk Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 76.
Born in Ireland Sept. 10, 1924, to Samuel and Isabell Dinsmore, Ms. Normoyle was a homemaker and leaves five children: Daniel Bendel and Barbara Sawler, both of Riverhead, Kenneth Sawler of Hampton Bays, George Normoyle of Selden, and Peter Normoyle of Georgia.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Jan. 2 at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead, where the Rev. Robert Jackman of Baiting Hollow-Calverton Congregational Church conducted funeral services on Jan 3. Interment took place at Riverhead Cemetery.
Frank J. McKay
Frank J. McKay, a native of Riverhead, died on Jan. 3, 2001 at his home in Venice, Fla. He was 82.
The son of Joseph and Virginia (Bonczyk) McKay, he was born July 24, 1918, and moved from Riverhead to Venice in 1978. He was a retired driver for Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Mr. McKay was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead and St. Raphael's R.C. Church in Englewood, Fla.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bertha McKay; three daughters, Patricia Bilski of Englewood, Fla., Helen Askin of Fallston, Md., and Barbara Scheu of Hampton, Ga.; two sisters, Agnes Lebeau of White Plains, N.Y., and Josephine Cippoletti of Levittown, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
Cremation and funeral services took place Jan. 5 in Venice. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1230 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, FL 34239.
Walter Danowski
Walter Danowski, 85, a native of Riverhead and resident of Calverton, died on Jan. 3, 2001 at Riverhead Nursing Home.
Mr. Danowski was born Sept. 18, 1915, to Jan and Veronika Danowski and worked as a mechanic at Tryac in Riverhead.
He leaves his wife, Wanda (nee Lachick); two daughters, Catherine Densieski and Patricia Penney, both of Riverhead; a son, Walter Jr., of Shoreham; a brother, John, of Aquebogue; two sisters, Rosie O'Kula and Frances White, both of Riverhead; and four grandchildren. Peter, Edward and Paul Danowski, Vera Doroski and Pauline Harris all predeceased him.
The family received friends on Jan. 5 at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead. A funeral mass was offered Jan. 6 at St. Isidore's R.C. Church, Riverhead, followed by interment at St. Isidore Cemetery.
John Razbornik
John Razbornik of Jamesport died at his residence on Jan. 6, 2001 at the age of 93.
He was born Feb. 7, 1907, in St. Jakob, Austria, to John and Catherine (Rath) Razbornik and was predeceased by his wife, Anna, in 1978.
Mr. Razbornik is survived by a son, Walter, of Hauppauge; a daughter, Catherine Keiser of Plainview, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
