Carol A. Raymond of Monticello, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, October 9, 2007. She was 60.
She was born on August 17, 1947 in Liberty, the daughter of the late Caroline and Joseph Morton. She married Robert Raymond September 24, 1967 at the Lutheran church in Liberty and together they just celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage together.
Carol graduated from Liberty Central School district in 1965. She worked as a beautician for many years while raising three sons, Kevin, Keith, and Kurt and worked for the past 15 years at the Fallsburg Central School cafeteria. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monticello.
Carol was a beautiful, loving, mother, wife and friend. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert Raymond; her three sons Kevin Raymond and his wife Amy, Keith Raymond and Kurt Raymond and his wife, Tara; her sisters, Helen Gadziala and Mae Neiss; her brother, Joseph Edward Morton and his wife, Margaret; sisters-in-law, Janet Tursi, Karen Nosel and her husband, Joe; five grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Kevin, Annelyse and Ayden Raymond; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Thomason officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hurleyville Cemetery.

Rosario Lopez Baez

Rosario Lopez Baez of the Brian Center, East, Hickory, NC and formerly of Sterling Ridge Drive, Newton, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Brian Center, East. She was 64.
Born October 4, 1943 in Moca, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Isidoro and Herminia Medina Lopez.
She was a member of Missionary Church of Christ in Liberty and was previously a hospital employee for more than 30 years at Catskills Regional Medical Center in Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Provi Lopez and two brothers, Benjamin and Loli Lopez.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Mariano Baez of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mariano Baez, Jr. of Hickory, NC, Josue "Josh" Baez and wife, Theresa of Newton; a sister, Ani Lopez Hernandez of Puerto Rico; four brothers, Rafael Lopez of Philadelphia, Pa., Gregory Lopez of Harris, Isidoro Lopez, Jr. of Lancaster, Pa., Vicente Lopez of Puerto Rico; four grandchildren, Dena, Katrina, Brooklyn and David Baez.
A Service of Remembrance was held Wednesday at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The Rev. Brian K. Smith officiated.
Caryn Brodsky
Line Worker, 48
Caryn Brodsky of South Fallsburg, a line worker for Sullivan ARC and a resident of the Alport House in South Fallsburg, died on Monday, October 8, 2007 in Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris. She was 48.
Caryn was born in the Bronx, on October 25, 1958 the daughter of the late Sidney Brodsky and Arlene Glatzer.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and niece and friend to all. She is now a bright star shining in heaven and we will always remember her as a caring and giving member of our family to everyone she touched; especially the friends, family and angels who work and live at the Alport House and Sullivan ARC.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc., Monticello. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiated.
Burial was made in Temple Sholom Cemetery, Monticello.
The family received friends after the services at the home of Sharon Moscone in Kiamesha Lake.

Aaltje Busser
Homemaker, 87
Aaltje "Ellie" Busser of Middletown, a longtime area resident, died on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at ORMC, Horton Campus. She was 87.
She was the daughter of the late Gerrit and Hendricka de Bruin van den Hoorn, she was born July 17, 1920 in Houtdorp, Holland. Ellie moved from her native Holland to the Middletown area in 1950 with her husband, Willem and two daughters.
She was a member of the Otisville- Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, and served as a Deacon, and a member of the Church's Women's Auxiliary. Ellie was also a member of Otisville Seniors, the Country Garden Club, a Seventh Degree member of Otisville Grange and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels since 1979. A family statement reads, " Mom loved her family, her church and her adopted community. She was very giving of her time and love to all.
She is survived by her daughter, Gerda Krogslund and her husband, Chuck of Middletown; son-in-law, John Rapp of Monticello; four grandchildren, John Rapp, Karen Cohen and her husband, Seth, Keith Krogslund and Paul Krogslund and his fiancée, Erin McGrath; two great-grandchildren, Lianna and Gillian; and numerous relatives in Holland.
Ellie was predeceased by her loving husband, Willem in 1987 and her beloved daughter, Eibertje "Ellie" Rapp.
Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service was held Thursday at Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in Otisville. Rev. Jeffrey Farley officiated.

Michael Anthony Kania, 51
Michael Anthony Kania of Wurtsboro, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 7, 2007 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 51.
The son of Martha Rossano Kania and the late Michael John Kania, he was born April 17, 1956 in Manhattan.
Michael will be sadly missed by all of his many friends and family members.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Kania , at home; his wife, April Fahrenfeld; two sisters, Carolann Kania of Hawley, Pa. and Roseann Garcia of Monticello; four nieces, Celeste, Ellie, Carole and Roseanne; and two nephews, Clifford and Jimmy.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Fr. Peter Madori will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

Shari Lisa Schneider
Formerly of Monticello, 47
Shari Lisa Weltman Schneider of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Brooklyn and Monticello, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007. She was 47.
A family statement reads: "Shari was an angel here on earth with her beautiful smile and warm and caring heart. She graced us with her zest for life. Shari now has her wings and she will use them well and live the life she always dreamed of. She will be deeply missed.”
Beloved wife, daughter and friend, survivors include her husband of 17 years, Philip Schneider; her mother and stepfather, Iris and Herb Gerard; a brother, Stephen and his wife, Merryl; an aunt and uncle, Annette and Al Weinberger; a stepsister, Wendy, and her husband, Barry; and many cousins and loving friends.
Services were held March 14 at Sinai Mortuary in Phoenix, Arizona. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Cemetery in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Cameron “Cam” Baim
Retired Farmer, 89
Cameron “Cam” Baim of Narrowsburg, a retired farmer and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 89.
The son of the late George and Louise Norris Baim, he was born July 19, 1917 in Briscoe.
He was the widower of Phyllis Vannatta Baim who died in 2003 after sharing 63 years of marriage.
A family statement reads, “He was a loving and devoted father. He was a very hard working farmer who took pride in a good day’s work. He worked into his 80s and still never wanted to stop. He was very loyal to his animals. He enjoyed life and nature. He will greatly be missed, especially at the 3 p.m. coffee breaks with stories.”
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Baim of Narrowsburg; a sister-in-law, Doris Baim of Youngsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Elwood “Butch” Baim; and two sisters, Mildred Baim and Emily Norris.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg.
Burial will be made in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.

Carl Schultz
Auto Salesman, 44
Carl Schultz of Appomattox, Va. and formerly of Orange County, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was 44.
Born July 3, 1962 in Orange Co., he was a son of Lena Root Schultz of Middletown and the late Wesley A. Schultz Sr.
He was a salesman for Larry's Auto Sales and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf War.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his mother; four children, Shaun Scafuri and KC Schultz, both of Appomattox, Va., Travis Schultz of Norwich, Conn. and DeAndra Schultz of Middletown; one brother, Wesley Schultz Jr. of Bloomingburg; two sisters, Loretta Schultz of Middletown and Pamela McDonald of New Windsor; numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church, 50 E. Main St., Middletown (845-343-2131). The Rev. Kenneth B. Wonrlamb will officiate.
Robert P. Schmidt
Business Owner, 79
Robert P. Schmidt of Callicoon Center, a longtime resident of Sullivan County, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Orlando, Fla. He was 79.
He was born December 31, 1927 in Port Jervis, the son of Peter D. Schmidt and Elsie Schwarz. His wife, Estelle, predeceased him in 1990.
He married Estelle Wilson October 6, 1951 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in New York City. They lived and raised their family in Callicoon Center until they both retired and moved to Florida.
Mr. Schmidt was an auto body man his whole life. From working in his father's trucking business, he went into business for himself, under the name of Bob's Auto Body. He then attended college to get his teaching degree and was the original Auto Body instructor when Sullivan County B.O.C.E.S. was created. He enjoyed teaching so much that when he retired in New York, he went to Florida and taught at Jones High School. During his teaching career, he wrote two textbooks, one on auto body and one on welding.
He was a 30-year member and past treasurer of the Callicoon Center Fire Dept., a member of St. George's Church, and the Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Corps. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Schmidt was a remarkable father who was loved and admired by his wife, children, family and others whose lives he touched.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Hawaii, Peter and his wife, Sara, of Orlando, Fla., and James and his wife, Dana, of Hurleyville; his daughters, Patricia and her husband, Mark Pearlman, of Orlando, Fla.; Laure and her husband, John Steele, of Orlando, Fla.; Jeanne and her husband, Ron Gettys, of Loganton, Pa.; and Lisa and her husband, Rick Marsh, of Orlando, Fla.; his grandchildren, Stella, Robert III, and Peter Schmidt, Karen Brooks, Cathi Short and John McIntyre, David, Jessie, Ashley and Paige Schmidt, Michael and Amber Schmidt, Erick and Dylan Steele, and Valerie, Melissa and Robert Gettys; twelve great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a sister, Madeline Forsblom.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Vincent J. Schmidt and Paul Schmidt.
Services were held March 14 at Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fla.
A Celebration of Life ceremony, and burial of the cremains in St. Mary's Cemetery in Obernburg, will be held later in the year.
