Marjorie "Maude" Jones of Port Jervis, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at the Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, N.J. She was 56 years of age.
The daughter of Alfred Houghtaling Jr. and the late Marjorie Groom Houghtaling, she was born February 24, 1944, in Warwick.
She is survived by her father of White Sulphur Springs; a daughter, Tammy Oriani of Port Jervis; a son, Daniel Jones of New Hampton; two brothers, Alfred Houghtaling III of Cuddebackville and Edward Houghtaling of Otisville; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Frank and William Jones, and a sister, Carol Ann Houghtaling.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, with the Rev. John Tronconi officiating.
Burial will be made in the Warwick Cemetery in Warwick.

Walter B. Richardson
Painter/Decorator, 68
Walter B. Richardson of Monticello, a house painter and interior and exterior decorator and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 68 years of age.
The son of the late Harper and Maud Richardson, he was born June 25, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Richardson was a member of the First Baptist Church in South Fallsburg and a member of the senior choir. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was quiet, but loved life and displaying the fruits of the Spirit."
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Richardson, at home; five sons, Walter Richardson of Atlanta, Ga., David Richardson of New Jersey, Keith Richardson of Philadelphia, Pa., Charles McCreary of Oklahoma and Robert McCreary of Monticello; three daughters, Donna Richardson and Allison Richardson, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Deborah McCreary of Monticello; three brothers, Johnnie Richardson of Philadelphia, Pa., Earl Richardson of Far Rockaway and Bruce Richardson of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Evelyn Jackson of Maryland; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in South Fallsburg with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Interment was made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Jennie Peterson of Spokane, Wash., and Rock Valley, passed away in Spokane, Wash.
Visitation will be from 10 to 12 a.m. at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock on Thursday, followed by graveside services and burial at the Rock Valley Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Father Nicholas Serras, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church in Deposit, officiating.
Muriel L. Van Orden
Ret. School Teacher, 81
Muriel Lila Van Orden of Kenoza Lake, a former longtime Monticello resident and a retired commercial teacher, died at her home on Thursday, May 18, 2000. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Malven James and Minnie Meyers Van Orden, she was born February 8, 1919, in Kauneonga Lake.
A graduate of Monticello High School in 1936, she graduated from Rider College in 1940 and received her Master's degree from Teachers College at Columbia University in 1947. She taught commercial subjects in public schools in New Jersey, Connecticut and New York and was on staff at the Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon in the early 1940s.
After retiring from teaching, she became a companion housekeeper for a number of people until 1979 when she moved to Monticello with her sister, "Bea," who was also retired.
Miss Van Orden was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Kauneonga Lake, a member of the Audubon Society, the Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance, Sullivan County Historical Society, the Monticello Senior Citizens and AARP of White Lake.
She is survived by a sister, Beatrice "Bea" Van Orden of Kenoza Lake; and several cousins.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh followed by interment of the ashes at the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
A memorial service will be held at the Community United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Lake Road, Kauneonga Lake, on Sunday, June 4, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.

Catherine C. Chapman
Ret. Antrim Chef, 92
Catherine E. Chapman of Roscoe, a retired chef for the Antrim Lodge in Roscoe and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late John M. and Elizabeth C. Gerold Tempel, she was born May 7, 1908, in Roscoe. She was the widow of Claude E. Chapman.
Mrs. Chapman was a lifelong communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society and had served as an Eucharistic Minister for many years.
She is survived by a son, Robert J. Chapman of Roscoe; two sisters, Madeline Will of Poughkeepsie and Elizabeth Kimmis of White Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren, William Lake of Smyrna, N.Y., Kevin Lake of Fishkill, Mark Lake of Roscoe, Rob Chapman of Belton, Tex., and Traci Myers of Jeffersonville; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, June Ann Lake, two sisters, Sophie Skelly and Anna Kinne, and two brothers, Nicholas and Chris Tempel.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Church, Highland Ave., Roscoe, with the Rev. Alfred Gallant officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.

May 26, 2000 -- Nicholas Gionciotta of (Tennanah Lake) Roscoe, a retired employee of Con Edison Electric in New York City, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at the Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. He was 89 years of age.
He is survvived by two daughters, Renee and Nancy; eight grandchildren; several cousins; and many friends.

Eugenia Koblinyk, a 12-year resident of Port Jervis, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at her home. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Klynowych Kolpecki, she was born January 1, 1914, in Ukraine.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Koblinyk of Port Jervis and Michael Koblinyk of Brick Township, N.J; a daughter, Oksana Nalio of Long Valley, N.J.; three sisters, Vera Labinsky of Somerset, N.J., and two in Ukraine; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis followed by a Liturgy Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey.
Burial will be made in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Hamptonburg.
Jennie Peterson

Jennie Peterson of Spokane, Wash., a past matron and 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Spokane. She was 95 years of age.
The widow of Olaf Peterson, she was born April 21, 1905, in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Diane Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Virginia DeBellonia of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Mary Oestrich of Fernwood (Long Eddy); a grandson and his wife, Michael and Denise DeBellonia of Spokane, Wash; two great-granddaughters, Deanna and Leah DeBellonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held in Rock Valley on Thursday.
Marshall Bossley, 52
Computer Programmer
Marshall Bossley of Swan Lake, a computer programmer with Bellcorp of Parsipanny, N.J., and a retired employee of AT&T, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 52 years of age.
The son of Vernon Bossley and Elaine Glassford Bossley, he was born February 22, 1948, in Liberty.
Mr. Bossley was a member of the Sioux Hunting Club in Bethel and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a graduate of Vineland (N.J.) High School, and had attended Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School and Cornwall Central School.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Head Bossley, at home; his mother, Elaine Josephsen, of Mays Landing, N.J.; his father and stepmother, Vernon and Georgie Bossley of Cornwall; three stepchildren, Tom Lohmann of West Park, and B.J. Lohmann and Amy Lohmann, both of Narrowsburg; two brothers, Dale Bossley of Mountainville and Rick Bossley of Montgomery; two step-sisters, Heidi Bossley of Chicago, Ill., and Heather and her husband, Lt. Steven Douglas of Lakeland, Wash; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey and Tim Cheng of Texas, Robert and Darlene Head of Callicoon, and Peter Head of Scipio Center; a step-granddaughter, Shayna Lohmann; an uncle and his wife, Emerson and Emma Bosley, and an aunt, Laverne Neuberger, all of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert McLeod officiating.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
