Lynn VanNess II, 23

Lynn Dale VanNess II of Dryden died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday, February 22, 2002, in the Town of Forestburgh. He was 23 years of age.
The son of Lynn and Diana Lin Toth VanNess, he was born July 19, 1978, in Johnson City.
He is survived by his parents of Port Jervis; two daughters, Makayla Maybee and Lyn VanNess; and a brother, Eric James VanNess of Monticello.
Friends can call on Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Burial will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.

Rita P. Gardner
Ret. Salesclerk, 68

Rita P. Gardner of Woodbourne, a former salesclerk at Richie's True Value Store in Ellenville and a 22-year area resident, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Nancy Ingrelli Revolinski, she was born January 16, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was the widow of Felix Garder.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise McShan of Australia; a sister, Nancy Haldermann of Milwaukee, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Loucks Funeral Home, Route 209, Ellenville, with the Rev. Jay Voglelaar officiating.

Mae B. Eaton
Ret. Salesperson, 95

Mae B. Eaton of Wurtsboro, a former salesperson for Carson and Towner in Middletown, died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the Middletown Park Manor. She was 95 years of age.
The daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Douglas Eaton, she was born April 28, 1905.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Curry of Minneola, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Donald Hyatt of Roseland, N.J.; three nieces, Ruth Robinson of Middletown, Betty McLin of Greenville, N.C., and Donna Cota; and a nephew, Robert Curry of Clarmont, Fla. She was predeceased by a sister, Bea Hyatt, and her companion, Francis Gaffney.
Services were held Wednesday at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown.
Interment was made in the Wallkill Cemetery.

Doris A. Haddock
Ret. from NY Tel, 76

Doris A. Haddock of Monticello, a 38-year employee of New York Telephone Co. and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, January 22, 2001, at the home of her son in Monticello. She was 76 years of age.
The daughter of the late Leo and Viola Bassney Slater, she was born April 18, 1924, in Equinunk, Pa. She was the widow of Charles P. Haddock.
Mrs. Haddock was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monticello and a founder of Noah's Ark Thrift Shop of the church. She was a member and past secretary of the Monticello Senior Citizens, a member of the Office of the Aging, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Bailey-Richmond Post No. 9588, Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was an avid bowler.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan "Moose" and Judy Reynolds of Monticello; two step-daughters, Sheri Haddock of New York City and Cynthia Belle and her husband, Richard, of Swan Lake; a sister, Florence Toohey of Richmond, Va.; three grandsons, Francis "Rusty" Welsch, Robert Welsch and Joshua Belle; two granddaughters, Tracy Gaughan and Jessika Belle; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Cora Stevenson, and a grandson, Ronald Welsch.
Services were held Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Monticello with the Rev. Rosemary Smith officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Dorothy G. Tompkins
Homemaker, 69

Dorothy G. Tompkins of Cornwall, a homemaker, died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late John G. and Lidia Vanduser Tompkins, she was born November 12, 1931, in Cornwall. She was the widow of Arthur W. Rozner.
Ms. Tompkins is survived by two sons, Robert A. Santiago of Tennessee and Obdulio R. Santiago of Cornwall; a daughter, Shirley Robinson of Monticello; a brother, John G. Tompkins of Highland Falls; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara T. Robinson, and a sister, Emma Croyle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, 318 North Montgomery St., Newburgh.
Burial will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P.O. Box 7E, East Syracuse, N.Y. 13057, or to the American Heart Association.

Reuben Lake
Ret. Carpenter, 67

Reuben Lake of Ellenville, a retired carpenter and member of Local 255 in Rock Tavern, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was 67 years of age.
The son of the late Reuben and Frances Taylor Lake, he was born March 3, 1933, in Ellenville.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Korea during 1953 and 1954.
He is survived by his wife, Catholene Lake, at home; four children by a previous marriage, Helen Lake of Accord, Michael Lake of Briggs Highway, John Lake and his wife, Pamela, of Accord, and Christopher Lake and his wife, Melissa of Grahamsville; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, June L. Miller of Ellenville, Sally M. Muller of Afton and Jacqueline A. Tefft of Spring Glen.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 21 Canal St., Ellenville, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Jay Vogelaar officiating.
Interment will be made in Fan-tinekill Cemetery.

Ronald W. Bishop Sr.
Avon Processor, 58

Ronald W. Bishop Sr. of Sloatsburg, a processor for Avon Products in Suffern for 31 years, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at his home after a long illness. He was 58 years of age.
The son of William and Helen Weaver Bishop, he was born September 26, 1942, in Suffern.
Mr. Bishop was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1961 to 1963. He loved to play golf and go hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frieda Gannon Bishop, at home; three children, Susan Cataldo of Huntington, Karen Sehnal of Chester and Ronald Bishop Jr. of Sloatsburg; his parents; two brothers, Richard Weaver of Chicago, Ill., and Kenneth Bishop of Chester; a sister, Sandra Akers of Swan Lake; three grandsons; and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 41 Eagle Valley Rd., Sloatsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church.
Interment will be made in Airmont Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockland.

Lillian M. Ruppert
Ret. LPN, 89

Lillian Mae Ruppert of Circleville, a former licensed practical nurse with the Middletown State Hospital and co-owner/operator of Ruppert's Garage in Middletown, retired operator of Ruppert's Used Furniture, and an 80-year area resident, died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in Goshen. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Florence Dukes Robinson, she was born March 27, 1911, in Branchville, N.J. She was the widow of Emil J. Ruppert.
She is survived by five nieces, Arlene Keese and Diana Palmer, both of Circleville, Sherri Sharpe of Westbrookville, Betty Bonitz of Bloomingburg and Deborah Elliott of Middletown; a nephew, David Keese of Circleville; a sister-in-law, Ada Robinson of Bloomingburg; and several grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Ernest Robinson, and a sister, Stella Keese.
Services were held Thursday at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating.
Interment was made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.

John P. D'Agata, 56
Ret. Owner of Sport Shop

John P. D'Agata of Boca Raton, Fla., a former resident of White Sulphur Springs and the retired owner of the Sportingway Sport Shop in Jeffersonville, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, in the Boca Raton Community Hospital. He was 56 years of age.
The son of Rita Mulvahill D'Agata and the late Peter D'Agata, he was born April 24, 1944, in New York City.
Mr. D'Agata was a member of the Sullivan County Bassmasters Assn.
He is survived by his mother of Boca Raton, Fla.,; his wife, Brenda McArthur D'Agata, at home; two daughters, SueAnn R. Boyd of Jeffersonville and Mechelle E. Fuchs of Clovis, Calif.; a son, John S. D'Agata of Cape Coral, Fla.; two brothers, Peter D'Agata of New Port Richey, Fla., and Stephen D'Agata of Kauneonga Lake; a sister, Ida Antonelle of Watchung, N.J.; two granddaughters, Megan and Madison D'Agata; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty.
Burial will be made in Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.

Ann P. Meskimen
Homemaker, 80

Ann Phyllis Meskimen of Titusville, Fla., died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at her home.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Roden, she was born in New York.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Meskimen of Titusville, Fla.; a son, James J. Meskimen of Topeka, Ill; two daughters, Patricia A. Walker and Barbara J. Arrowsmith, both of Pekin, Ill; two brothers, Arthur A. Roden of Beverly Hills, Fla., and James J. Roden of Monticello; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Roden, and a sister, Aileen Marie Regan.
Services were held on Sunday at the North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, Fla.
