Jean C. “Sis” Summerson of Cologne, NJ, passed away June 19, 2007 at Atlantic City Medical Center. She was 83.
The daughter of Eugene and Christina Mears, she was born in Brooklyn.
Jean attended Livingston Manor Central School, and lived in Livingston Manor until 1966 when she and her husband Glenn and family moved to South Jersey. Sis enjoyed many happy times with Glenn in Melbourne Beach Fla., and cruising the Caribbean with her family and friends. She loved her family and the times she had with them. She will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Glenn; her children, Dixie, Eugene (Kathleen), Betty, Terry, and Lance (Terri); grandchildren, Glenda Amador, Cleta Magyar, Angel Baldi, Billy Klein, Chrissy McIntosh, Tammy Gaskill, Marc Summerson, Lance Summerson Jr., Valerie Bartholomew; great-grandmother of 14; her brothers and sister Dot (Huff) of Pawling, Eugene (Bub) of Hunter Lake, John of Santa Rosa, Calif., and George of Flagstaff, Ariz.
There will be a private memorial service.
Joseph F. Smith
Ret. Penn DOT, 64
Joseph F. Smith of Callicoon, a former worker for Collingdale Boro Pennsylvania Highway Department, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 64 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph and Rose Allgeier Smith, he was born March 24, 1936, in New York City.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Doran Smith, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Alma Smith of Callicoon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Kevin Verrill of Mifflinburg, Pa., and Jennifer and Paul Pitz of Narrowsburg; six grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Smith, and a brother, Robert E. Smith, a retired New York City policeman.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville, with Father Robert Nee, O.F.M., officiating.
Burial was made in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.

Marlyn A. Cole
Homemaker/LPN, 68
Marlyn A. Cole of Ferndale, a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse, died Friday, January 26, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of the late Robert A. and Anna May Beseth Cox, she was born December 23, 1932, in Liberty.
Mrs. Cole was a member of the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Cole, at home; two sons, Martin Cole of Ferndale and Rodney Cole and his wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Barbara Sarles of Liberty; a brother, Donald Cox, and his wife, Dorothy, of White Sulphur Springs; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, with the Rev. Donald Baker officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Jean Levine
Homemaker, 83
Jean Levine of Plainview, L.I., formerly of Monticello, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Plainview, Long Island, N.Y. She was 83 years of age.
Jean was born October 6, 1924 in the Bronx to the late Nathan and Dora Binder Ott.
She was the widow of Bernard, “B’laib” Levine who passed away on March 15, 2000.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Ena Haase and her husband, Yoram, of Plainview, Long Island; a son, Jonathan Levine and his wife, Judy, of Liberty; five loving grandchildren, Noa Tal Haase and Sharon Mirit Haase of Plainview, L.I., and Jared Levine, Jeffery Levine, and Jason Levine of Liberty.
She was predeceased by one brother, William Ott; one sister, Nettie Ott; and one nephew, Richard Ott.
Funeral services were held January 17 at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Monticello. Rabbi Ben-Zion Chanowitz officiated.
Burial was made in Woodridge Synagogue Cemetery, Glen Wild.
Floyd Roberts
Security Officer, 72
Floyd Alfred Roberts of Merritt Island, Fla., passed away on Monday, December 11, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. He was 72.
Floyd was born May 16, 1934 in Honesdale, Pa. and raised in Narrowsburg.
He served four years in the Air Force, lived with his wife and children in Liverpool and worked for GE. The family moved to Merritt Island in 1967.
After working for Radiation in Palm Bay and MDAC in Titusville, he joined Rockwell at Kennedy Space Center in 1979 as a shuttle electrical technician. Floyd retired from United Space Alliance at KSC in 1999. More recently he worked part time as a security officer for McRoberts Maritime Security at Port Canaveral.
Floyd coached and managed Merritt Island Little League and Lassie League teams and was involved in all of his children’s activities including the Merritt Island Mustang Booster Club and even helped build the field house. The family hosted two foreign exchange students from Japan in the 1970s.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Helga, of 49 years; daughter, Kim DeCarlo and husband, Mike of Port St. John; son, Keith Roberts of Merritt Island; and grandsons, Steven Roberts of Palm Bay, Aaron Faby and wife, Cham of Los Angeles, Calif., Bryan Faby of Port St. John, Corey Roberts of Melbourne and Kyle Roberts of Melbourne. Floyd was thrilled to learn that he was to finally become a great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Roberts and a brother Carl Roberts.
Donations may be made to Health First Hospice, who provided care to Floyd and comfort to the family.
Theresa Bonner
Resort Worker,52
Theresa Linda Bonner lived in Eldridge, Missouri and was formally of Salem, Massachusetts. She passed away on January 12, 2007 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri after a long term illness. She was 52.
Theresa was born August 19, 1954 in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Lundy and Beatrice (Kerr) Ayers.
She is survived by her husband, James Bonner of Salem, Massachusetts; her sisters, Eilieen (Bob) Reinhardt and Melanie (James) Gannon of New York; many sister-in-laws; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ellen and Bernard Bonner of Milton, Massachusetts; and her very good friends, James and Elizabeth Schuler of Eldridge, Missouri. James and Elizabeth helped her and gave support to her husband James through her illness.
Theresa loved her dogs and cats. She worked at the Hess Gas Station in Massachusetts and the Concord Resort Hotel in Kiamesha Lake. Theresa moved to Missouri in 2006. She was also an ex carrier for Boston Herald and also worked at the Sullivan County Democrat.

John Barry Spear
Social Studies Teacher, 54
John Barry Spear of Rock Hill, an 11th grade social studies teacher at the Monticello High School, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Town of Thompson. He was 54.
The son of the late Norman Spear and Esther Allen Spear, he was born August 27, 1952 in Syracuse.
In addition to being the head of the Social Studies Department in the High School, he was the varsity baseball coach for over 20 years. He also coached in the Monticello Little League and youth soccer leagues.
A family statement read, “John was a kind and gentle man who could always be counted on. He was my great support and love, and he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.”
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Misita Spear; two sons, Thomas Spear and David Spear; one daughter, Gina Spear; and a grandson, Adyn, all at home; one brother, Robert Spear and his wife, Margery of Syracuse; two sisters, Sally Flagler of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Cheryl Jeffrey of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Victoria on March 4, 1988.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Fr. Robert Ginel will officiate.
Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse.

Linda Marie Reeves
Retired Musician, 52
Linda M. Reeves, formerly of Narrowsburg, a retired musician with the Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Maryland, passed away suddenly on January 5, 2007 at her home in Arnold, Maryland. She was 52.
She was born on September 17, 1954 in Callicoon to the late Marie Davis Reeves and Clarence W. Reeves, Sr.
Linda graduated Narrowsburg H.S. in 1972 and went on to study music at Fredonia State as well as Michigan State University.
She was a talented and accomplished musician, having the unique distinction of playing clarinet for both the US Military Academy Band in West Point, as well as the U.S. Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD.
Upon her retirement Linda maintained her passion for music continuing to teach students piano and clarinet from her home.
She is survived by her brother, Clarence and his wife, Jinni; and three nieces, Angela, Veronica and Lexi; and a nephew, Willy Reeves.
A Memorial Service for Linda will be held on Saturday, January 27 at the Free Methodist Church in Beach Lake, Pa. at 3 p.m.
Cremation took place in Baltimore, Md.
Graveside burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association in Linda’s name.
