Mildred Kraushaar of Bloomingburg, a lifetime area resident, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at home. She was 98 years old.
The daughter of the late Eugene and Emily Schafer Decker, she was born March 14, 1909 in Middletown.
A family statement reads: "Aunt Millie never had children of her own, but she raised her brothers and sister after her mother died. She was like a mother to her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and great nephews. We will all miss her!"
Mildred is survived by three nieces: Barbara Decker, Pamela Earnshaw, and Deborah Hanson; one nephew, James Decker; and ten great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Anton Kraushaar; three brothers: Clarence "Jim" Decker, Emil Decker, and Harland Decker, and her sister, Mary Decker.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Bloomingburg.

Debra Saunders, 56
Debra B. Saunders of Bloomingburg, was born March 22, 1950, she passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007.
She leaves behind her best friend of many years, Cheryl Bowman; her second mom, Eleanor Smith; her ready made family, Jennifer and Bill Ramos with their family, Jennifer and Bart Bowman with their family.
We also want to thank everyone from Mid-City Transit for all their thoughts and prayers.

Linda Houlihan
Social worker, 59
Linda A. Houlihan of Greenwood Lake, a social worker at A.H.R.C. in New Windsor for 26 years, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at home. She was 59.
The daughter of Clareta Kuen Sergeant and the late Charles Sergeant, she was born on September 22, 1947 in New York.
Mrs. Houlihan was a graduate of Aldephi University.
Survivors include her mother, Clareta Sergeant of Cinnaminson, NJ; her husband, John P. Houlihan, at home; and her children, Jean M. Houlihan and her fiance, Jack McHugh, Robert J. Houlihan and his fiancee, Isabel Serra and Lori A. Houlihan and her partner, Amy Toller, both at home. She is also survived by her sisters, Mauna Krumm and her husband, Ronald of Cinnaminson, NJ and Jean Marino and her husband, Dominic of Forestburgh; and her brother, Charles Sergeant of Riverside, NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Strong-Basile Funeral Home, 75 Main Street in Warwick.
Funeral Services were held on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Greenwood Lake. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Routeman, 54
Howard W. LaPolt of Monticello, a routeman for Miller Automatic for 30 years and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at his home. He was 54 years of age.
The son of the late Elmer and Nina Fisher LaPolt, he was born February 8, 1942, in Monticello.
Mr. LaPolt was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Bloomingburg, the Liberty Chapter of the International Order of Old Bastards, the Bloomingburg Grange and was a longtime league bowler at Kiamesha Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Eda LaPolt, at home; a sister, Wanda Castro of Liberty; a brother, Ronald LaPolt of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Assumption R.C. Church, High St., Bloomingburg, with Father James Sidoti, O.Carm., officiating.
Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
C. Nelson Johnston
Ret. Businessman, 81
C. Nelson Johnston of Roscoe, the owner of the family bluestone and lumber business and a longtime area resident, died Monday, February 19, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late Thomas D. and Elizabeth M. Backer Johnston, he was born December 21, 1919, in Horton. He was the widower of Agnes P. Johnston to whom he had been married for 51 years.
Mr. Johnston was a 1941 graduate of Manhattan College with a BBA degree. He was president and one of the founders of the Roscoe Community Nursing Home, a member of Gate of Heaven Church, a more than 50-year member of the Roscoe Hose Co. #1, a 45+ year and life member of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club, all in Roscoe. He had received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America and was a former director of the Norstar Bank in Roscoe for over 30 years.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles N. and Cynthia L. Johnston, and a grandson, James Robert Johnston, all of Shandelee; a brother, Alfred G. Johnston of Roscoe; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James P. Johnston.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday at Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.
Burial was made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.

Angel Rae Spangler of Liberty, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at her home. She was 22 years of age.
The daughter of Debra Spangler, she was born June 20, 1978, in Harrisburg, Pa.
She is survived by her mother of Liberty; six half-sisters, Stacey Vogel-Spangler of Montgomery, Md., Amanda Weaver of Harrisburg, Pa., Stephanie Vogel of Westchester, Pa., Heather Hinkley of Neversink, Christina Dutkiewicz of North Branch and Michelle Edwards of Kauneonga Lake; three half-brothers, Richard P. Keaf of Westchester, Pa., Chad Vogel of Liberty and Michael Edwards Jr. of Kauneonga Lake; and; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty.

Homemaker, 79
Blanche "Elaine" Bogusz of Middletown, formery of Pearl River, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at the Middletown Park Manor in Middletown. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Harry and Anna Cochran Walker, she was born October 15, 1921, in Tuxedo. She was the widow of Michael "Mickey" Bogusz who died in 1987.
While living in Pearl River, Mrs. Bogusz was a member of the Order of Amaranth in Suffern, the Pearl River Methodist Church, The Mothers Group of the Pearl River DeMolay, and the Faith Reform Church of Slate Hill.
She is survived by two sons, Robert M. Bogusz and his wife, Ann Sylvia, of Wolf Lake, and Glenn A. Bogusz and his companion, Clara Ingram, of Lenior, N.C.; three granddaughters, Lisa Porpora and her fiance, Claude Delassandro, Deborah and her husband, Chris DeRienzo, and Adrienne Bogusz; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Kristen and Whitney; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Walker Jr. who died in 1982 and Jack Walker who died in 1990.
Friends may call at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Pearl River Methodist Church.
Burial will be made in the Brick Church Cemetery in New Hempstead.

Gladys Stratton of Grahamsville, a former steamstress for Rosenstocks in Ellenville and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at the Sullivan County Health Care Center in Liberty. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles Elmer and Louisa DePuy Sheeley, she was born June 8, 1908, in Montela. She was the widow of Edwin E. Stratton.
Mrs. Stratton was a member of the Ulster Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley DeWire of Grahamsville; three grandchildren, Denise Brown, Kathleen Mc Carthy and Janine Cassidy, all of Grahamsville; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday at the Ulster Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peggy Ann Sauerhoff officiating.
Burial was made in the Ulster Heights Cemetery in Ulster Heights.

Robert M. Pellew Jr. of Bloomingburg, a self-employed bricklayer and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 40 years of age.
The son of Robert M. and Margaret Culver Pellew, he was born February 14, 1961, in Middletown.
He is survived by his parents of Bloomingburg; his wife, Delores Holmberg Pellew, at home; six children, Jennifer Pellew, Patricia Pellew, Jessica Pellew and Robert M. Pellew III, all at home, and Jason S. Pellew and Heather Pellew, both of Cuddebackville; three sisters, Brenda Bernard, Barbara Rodriguez and Sandra Reidy, all of Bloomingburg; a brother, Allen Pellew of Bloomingburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Betty Beach officiating.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Cemetery in Bloomingburg.
