William R. "Dutch" Hoheusle of Narrowsburg, a 15-year area resident, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 44 years of age.
The son of Margeline Mazzara Hoheusle and the late William J. Hoheusle, he was born May 11, 1957, in Brooklyn.
He is survived by his mother of Narrowsburg; his companion, Jo Ann Brajuka; a sister, Gale Shaffer of Narrowsburg; three daughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday evening at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

Anthony Schwab, 69
Anthony 'Tony" Schwab of Monticello, a longtime area resident, died Monday, May 28, 2001, in the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 69 years of age.
He was born August 11, 1931 in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Schwab is survived by several area friends and some far away relatives.
Services were held Thursday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello with Fr. John Lynch officiating.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.
Betty Lou Simpson
Ret. Unit Clerk, 50
Betty Lou Simpson of Bloomingburg, a former unit clerk at the Horton Memorial Hospital and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. She was 50 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Inez Babcock Simpson, she was born November 22, 1950, in Middletown.
She is survived by five children, Betty Ann Pellew, Rebecca Pellew, Laura Pellew and Randy Pellew, all of Bloomingburg, and Daniel Pellew of Pine Bush; two brothers, Donald Simpson and Richard Simpson; eight sisters, Ida Kniffin, Bertha King, Linda Salvati, Judy Boyce, Janet Young, Cheryl Kowalczik, Gail Smith and Brenda Mitchell; four grandchildren, Nicole, Megan, Ronnie and Ericka; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 West Main St., Middletown.
Burial will be made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.

Parole Secretary, 58
Judith H. Gardiner of Livingston Manor, a secretary of parole at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 58 years of age.
The daughter of the late Oliver L. and Helen Coger Decker, she was born May 13, 1943, in Liberty.
In a family statement, it was said, "To our dear mother: You were our pillar of strength. Your devotion and kindness to all will be dearly missed. Your struggle is over and heaven awaits."
She is survived by two daughters, Patti L. and Barbara L. Gardiner, both of Livingston Manor; a brother, David Decker of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Tiffany Page and Adam Page, both of North Carolina, and Joshua Gardiner of Livingston Manor; an uncle, Donald Coger of Livingston Manor; two aunts, Iva Bivins of Willowemoc and Joyce Wall of Walton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Wednesday at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Burial was made in the Lew Beach Cemetery in Lew Beach.

LaVerne Knickerbocker
Ret. Businessman, 80
LaVerne M. "Knick" Knickerbocker of Roscoe, a retired co-owner of M.C. Knickerbocker Coal and Feed Mill of Roscoe and a 60-year area resident, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at his home. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Marshall C. and Shirley Kraft Knickerbocker, he was born September 28, 1920, in Walton.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Floyd Keener American Legion Post #315 in Roscoe. He was also a member and Communion Steward of the Roscoe United Church of Roscoe, a member of the Twin Village Golf Club, a former member and past president of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Roscoe Hose Co. #1, all in Roscoe.
"Knick" had been an outstanding athlete. He excelled in baseball and was a longtime member of the town team. He accomplished three holes-in-one on the golf course.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean French Knickerbocker, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry L. and Leslie Knickerbocker of Jeffersonville, and Tom M. and Mary Knickerbocker of Poughkeepsie; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim E. and Michael Delbecq of Albuquerque, N. Mex.; a sister, Edith Martin of Pine Bush; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday at the United Church of Roscoe with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.

James A. Magie
Ret. Carpenter, 84
James A. Magie of Loch Sheldrake, a self-employed carpenter and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. He was 84 years of age.
The son of the late Samuel Stephen and Georgia Viola Cantrell Magie, he was born June 16, 1916, in Bridgeville.
Mr. Magie was a member and past chief of fire police of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Company. A World War II veteran, he was also a member of the Woodridge-Mountaindale Memorial Post No. 6294 Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Woodridge.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Minnie Frances Smith Magie; four sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Judy Magie, Robert W. and Louise Magie, and Leon James and Jewel Magie, all of Loch Sheldrake, and William C. and Lillian Magie of Woodridge; two brothers, John Magie of Forestburgh and Walter Magie of Monticello; three sisters, Mabel Brown of Woodbourne, Ruth Beaver of Youngsville and Alice Irwin of Bradley; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel and Ralph Magie, and a sister, Elizabeth.
Services were held Tuesday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. David Jolly officiating.

Carmine Myers Sr., 44
Carmine Myers Sr. of Mongaup Valley, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 44 years of age.
The son of the late George Sr. and Nicholena Dapolito Myers, he was born August 12, 1956, in the Bronx.
He is survived by a son, Carmine Myers Jr. and a daughter, Nicholena Myers, both of Mongaup Valley; four brothers, George Myers Jr., Arthur Myers, Michael Myers and Mark Myers, all of New York City; two grandchildren, Willie J. Rogers Jr. and Victorea A. Rogers, and a future grandchild, Carmine Myers III; and his extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday at St. Peter's Church in Monticello.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.

Ret. Cashier, 80
Ivah P. Specht of Roscoe, a homemaker and a retired cashier with several food markets in Roscoe, and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ivan L. and Beatrice A. Simpson Price, she was born August 13, 1920, in Roscoe. She was the widow of Charles W. Specht who passed away April 16, 2001.
Mrs. Specht was a charter member of the Roscoe-Rockland Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Roscoe and a charter member and former secretary of the defunct Ladies Auxiliary to the Harold Wood Post No. 5911, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Roscoe.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Al Etkin of Rock Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Barbara Price of Middletown; a sister-in-law, Clara S. Lindsay of Roscoe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.

Dairy Farmer, 59
Bruce Leonard Reichmann, a lifelong resident of Callicoon, and a dairy farmer, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at home. He was 59.
The son of the late Leonard H. and Elsie Buddenhagen Reichmann, he was born on February 10, 1949 in Callicoon.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Callicoon; graduate of Delaware Valley Central School Class of 1967; graduate of Cornell University Class of 1971 and former DVCS School Board member.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Theysohn Reichmann at home; two sons, Christopher and his fiancee, Megan Kitson of Callicoon and William of Somerville, Mass.; two sisters, Carol Herbert and husband, Ray of Callicoon and Natalie Kinney and husband, Earl of Hortonville; a special cousin, William Buddenhagen and wife, Michele of Jeffersonville; nieces, Lora McAvoy and husband, Tom and Lisa Smith and husband, Craig; nephews, Scott Herbert and wife, Twila, Mark Herbert and wife, Cindy and Shane Kinney and fiancee, Courtney Whitmore; sisters-in-law, Nancy Theysohn of Cibolo, Tx., Mary Schumacher and friend, Ed Kelting of Callicoon and Holly Ruppert and husband, Bobby of Kenoza Lake; brother-in-law, Wilbur Theysohn and wife, Debbie of Damascus, Pa. and their daughters, Heather of Baltimore, Md. and Kristen of Philadelphia, Pa.; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Sunday, May 4 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith O.F.M. officiated.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
