Esther Rosenberg, a 23-year resident of Fellsmere, Fla., and a former longtime Wurtsboro resident, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Integrated Health Services of Vero Beach, Fla. She was 94 years of age.
She was born in Mountaindale on April 15, 1906.
Mrs. Rosenberg was a Jehovah's Witness and a member of Kingdom Hall Sebastian Congregation in Sebastian, Fla.
She is survived by two daughters, Bernice Piper of Wurtsboro and Dorothy Newkerk of Fellsmere, Fla.; a sister, Ethel DeVoe of Fellsmere, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jesse Levine
Ret. Pharmacist, 91
Jesse Levine of Woodridge, a retired pharmacist, died Thursday, June 15, 2000. He was 91 years of age.
The son of the late George and Celia Levine, he was born May 21, 1909, in Brooklyn.
At the age of six, he came to Woodridge with his family. His father opened his pharmacy in Woodridge in 1915 and operated it until his death. Jesse took over the operation of the business and operated it until 1972 when the store was completely destroyed by fire.
An old-fashioned pharmacist, Mr. Levine mixed all of his own medicines and made his own powder capsules and salves from scratch. When he practiced, he was on call 24 hours a day, often being called on to fill a prescription at all hours of the night.
Mr. Levine was a member of the Woodridge Kiwanis Club and the Woodridge Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Davis, at home; two daughters, Anne Krawitz of Woodridge and Sue Altman of South Fallsburg; two granddaughters; a grandson; two great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
Services were held Friday at the Synagogue in Woodridge.
Interment was made in the Woodridge Synagogue Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Bertha E. Allison
Ret. Teacher's Aide, 68
June 23, 2000 -- Bertha "Betty" E. Allison of Neversink, a retired teacher's aide for the Tri-Valley School District, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at her home. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of the late Benjamin and the late Loretta Cypert Bertholf, she was born March 12, 1932 in Divine Corners.
Mrs. Allison is survived by her husband of 48 years, Karl Allison; two sons and daughters-in-law, Karl S. and Joanie Allison of Glasco, and Tim and Suzanne Allison of San Diego, CA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Lee and Buster TerBush of Grahamsville, and Karen and Mike Wolfe of Neversink; three brothers, Albert Bertholf of Divine Corners, and Leo and Ken Bertholf of Deland, FL; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bill, Mike, Dick, and Raymond Bertholf, and a sister, Loretta Muthig.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 26, at 10 a.m. in the Church of Immaculate Conception, Rte 42, Woodbourne. The Rev. John J. Lynch will officiate.
Burial will be made in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.

Irma G. Rupp
Ret. Businesswoman, 79
Irma G. Rupp of Monticello, former owner of Irma's Sport Shop in Monticello and the Candy Cone Ice Cream Stand in White Lake, and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, June 16, 2000 at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Moses Hammond and the late Etta Palmer Hammond, she was born March 8, 1921 in Woodridge.
Mrs. Rupp was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monticello and was a past president of the Ladies Elks Lodge 1544, Monticello.
She is survived by one daughter, Candace Nutty of Albion; one son, Robert Rupp Jr.; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Rupp Sr.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello. The Rev. Rosemary Smith officiated.
Burial was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Margaret "Peggy" Ris, a homemaker of Liberty and a longtime resident of the area, died Monday, June 19, 2000 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Community General Hospital. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late James Bute and Margaret Gray Bute, she was born April 4, 1907 in Scotland.
She is survived by three nieces, Ellen Clark of Wurtsboro, Laurie Devore of Grahamsville, and Alexis Kahn of Monticello; two nephews, Allen Bute of AK and John Bute of FL; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Ris; daughter Margaret Glover; her three brothers, James Bute, Alexander Bute, and John Bute; and sister Ann Long.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 22, at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Main St., Woodbourne. Burial was to follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.

Retired Counselor, 74
Lucy Victoria Perry of Liberty, a retired counselor at Dobb's Ferry Foster Home in Dobb's Ferry, died in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ, on June 18, 2000. She was 74 years of age.
The daugher of the late Rev. Leslie and Caroline Gaines O'Bannon, she was born on May 4, 1926 in Hurricane, AL.
Mrs. Perry moved to Sullivan County in 1992 and became a member of the Bethlehem Temple Church and the Infirmary Road Day Care Center.
She is survived by eight children, Timothy Koen and David Koen of Monticello, Leroy Koen of New Jersey, Peter Koen of Oklahoma, Lockwood Koen and Theresa Koen of California, Katherine Perry of Liberty, and Elizabeth Koen of North Carolina; two sisters, Lelia Coleman Young of South Carolina and Mildred O'Bannon of Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Georgie O'Bannon of California and Annebelle O'Bannon of Monticello; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Perry; two children, Judy and Freddie Koen; three sisters, Essie Lee, Rosabelle and Agnes O'Bannon; and three brothers, Alvin, Albert, and Nelson O'Bannon.
Friends may call at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 66 St. John St., Monticello, on Friday, June 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Bethelehem Temple Church, Fairground Rd., Monticello on Saturday, June 24, at noon. The Rev. Mervin Armstead will officiate. Burial will be held in Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.

Daniel O. Rutan
Ret. Truck Driver, 90
June 27, 2000 -- Daniel O. Rutan of Middletown, a retired driver with Barney's Super Oil Service in Middletown and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in Goshen. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late Alexander and Lucy Calhoun Rutan, he was born January 10, 1910, in Wurtsboro. He was the widower of Marie McCade Rutan.
Mr. Rutan was a charter member of the Wurtsboro Fire Department and a charter member of the Silver Lake Fire Department.
He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Rutan of Arizona; a son, Robert Rutan of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Cathleen Rutan of Denver, Colo., Denise Rutan of Kansas City, Mo., Daniel J. Rutan of Rocky Point, N.C., Karen Fossati of Pawling and Steven Diehl of Rhinebeck; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at the Assumption Church in Maybrook.
Burial was made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.
Tammi Sue Q. Cox
Homemaker, 29
Tammi Sue Quick Cox of Middletown, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 29 years of age.
The daughter of Hazzie and Susan J. Cliff Quick, she was born November 12, 1970, in West Point.
Mrs. Cox was a 1989 graduate of Weed (New Mexico) High School and was listed in the 1989 Who's Who of American Students. She was also Miss America Co-Ed in 1989.
In a family statement, it was said, "No matter how sick Tammy was, she was always ready to help others."
She is survived by her husband, Howard P. Cox, at home; her parents of Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca J. and Michael Halstead and a nephew, Michael Halstead Jr., all of Burlingham; her maternal grandfather, George Cliff of Crossville, Tenn.; her paternal grandfather, Claude Quick of Wurtsboro; five uncles, Harold Cliff of Orlando, Fla., Richard Cliff of Middletown, Claude Quick Jr. of Belvidere, Vt., Gary Quick of Wurtsboro and Richard Quick of Melbourne, Fla. and a great-aunt, Barbara Osborn of Storrs, Conn.
Services were held Saturday at the Morse Funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Tim Woodard officiating.
Burial was made in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
