Retired Postal Employee, 64
Charles R. Rosencrans Jr. of Yulan, retired from the Cedar Grove, N.J. Post Office and a longtime resident of the area, died February 1, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. He was 64.
The son of the late Charles R. and the late Dorothy Rassbach Rosencrans Sr., he was born September 12, 1942 in Lyndhurst, N.J.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church of Padua in Yulan, and the Yulan Rod & Gun Club.
He is survived by his sister, Jane Ford and her husband, Alfred, of Manchester, N.J.; a niece, Pamela Tigar; a nephew, Alfred Ford Jr.; and five grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 5, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony's Church of Padua, with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.
Burial was made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Louis Negri, 95
Louis Negri of Harris died Wednesday, January 31, 2007.
One of ten brothers and sisters, all who died before him, Louis was the youngest son of Eugene and Fortunata Negri. He was the widower of Frieda Fenster Negri who predeceased him by many years. He then married Esther Billman who predeceased him five years ago.
Lou was the much loved father of Rita and Frank Distante and Jane and Richard Gordon. He was the adored and cherished Papa of Don and Kristen Distante, Rebecca and Gary Kittrell, Frieda and Mark Levitas and Joseph Gordon and the late Kenneth Distante. He was the loved and enjoyed great-grandfather of Markail, Marion, Olivia, Ivy and Elijah.
Lou lived a long and good life. His many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews loved and respected him always, his wife, Frieda, worshipped the ground he walked on, his daughters and sons-in-law loved and cared for him, his grandchildren cherished every moment with him, his great-grandchildren knew and played with him and his friends counted on him.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the funeral home. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Arrangements were made by F. Ruggiero & Sons, Yonkers.
Douglas Youmans
Auto Mechanic, 64
Douglas A. Youmans of Ellenville, a 25-year resident and an auto mechanic for Pearl River Exxon, died February 1, 2007 at the Ellenville Regional Hospital. He was 64.
The son of Everett and Dora Doland Youmans, he was born November 7, 1942 in Sloatsburg.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Lucha Youmans at home; five sons, Douglas Youmans Jr. of Woodbourne, Everett Youmans of Ogdenburg, Frederick Youmans and his wife, Mary of Kerhonkson, Michel Youmans and his wife, Tina of Ellenville, and Robert Youmans of Ellenville; one daughter, Kimberly Johnson and her husband, Mike of Monticello; 20 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.
Cremation will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Thomas Masterson Jr.
Retired Business Owner, 75
Thomas L. Masterson Jr., formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, February 4, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Joan P. (Mitchell) Masterson.
Tom was born and raised in NYC, moved to Liberty in 1954, and in 1982, moved to Eastham, Mass.
Tom attended Cardinal Hayes High School in New York City.
In 1950, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Okanogan. He was later attached to the U.S. Marines Corps and served as a corpsman in Korea with C-1-7 in 1952 and 1953 where he was awarded the bronze star with combat V.
After serving in Korea, Tom attended the American College of Funeral Directors and later moved to Liberty, where he owned and operated Masterson Funeral Homes, until 1982 when he retired to Eastham, Mass.
He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans, First Marine Division Association, The Cape and Islands Marine Corp Leage, Fourth degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Orleans/Eastham Elks, U.S.S. Okanogan Association. Tom was also past Deputy Mayor of Liberty, served as a six-year term as Village of Liberty Trustee, and was Sullivan County Coroner for three terms; was Past Liberty Police and Fire Commissioner, member and past president of Liberty Hose and Truck Fire Company #2 (active member for 27 years), Past President of the Catskill Mountain Funeral Directors Association, Past President of the NY State Coroner and Medical Examiner Association and Past Chairman of the Liberty Republican Party.
After retiring and moving to Eastham in 1982, Tom worked for the State of Massachusetts Environmental Control as a fire tower operator and served on the Eastham Finance Committee for five years.
Tom was an avid fisherman and loved the sea, although, his greatest love was his family.
Surviving family members include his wife of 51 years, Joan; children, Kathleen Masterson of Eastham, Ma.; Tom Masterson III and his wife, Gabriela, of Fairlee, Vt.; Eileen Varner of Eastham, Ma.; Daniel Masterson and his wife, Linda, of Liberty, Maureen Townsend and her husband, Randy of Berwick, Me.; Colleen Laurence and her husband, Dan, of Shrewsbury, Ma; Geraldine Blain and her husband, Doug, of Barnard, Vt.; 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his dog, Shadow.
Walter Lust
Retired Driver, 78
Walter Julius Lust of Glen Spey, a former longtime resident of Pine Island, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 78.
He was born August 8, 1928 in Goshen, N.Y., the son of the late Julius and the late Elizabeth Kiel Lust.
Walter was retired from Rupp Southern Tier in Middletown after 28 years as a tractor-trailer driver and later retired from Gillinder Bros. Glass Factory in Port Jervis.
A veteran of the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Wurtsboro American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Middletown and Ontario Hose Co. of Middletown.
He was dearly loved by his family. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Burnett Lust at home; two daughters, Sharon Gunther and her husband, Richard of Powhatan, Va., and Deborah Terwilliger and her husband, Thomas of Ellenville; sister, Wilma Hoag of Middlesex, N.C.; two grandchildren, Laurie Ann Leak of Powhatan, Va. and Shawn Thomas Terwilliger and his companion, Hope Irwin of Ellenville; three great-granddaughters, Kayla, Alyssa and Brittany; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria Nowicki and Betty Ann Rudy; a brother, Albert Lust, and a brother-in-law, Peter Nowicki.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Cremation will be made at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.

Eleanor M. Gerow
Fmr. Monticello Resident, 92
Eleanor M. Gerow of Carbondale, Pa., passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Osprey Ridge Health Care Center. She was 92.
The daughter of Charles L. and Eloise Pelton Morman, she was born June 9, 1914 in Monticello.
She was a member of the OES Chapter 443 in Liberty, and an auxiliary member of many different fire departments.
She was the widow of Ralph Gerow who passed away in 2001.
Suvivors include her two sons, Ralph Gerow and wife, Janet, of West Coxsackie, and Thomas Gerow and his wife, Carol, of Cary, N.C.; two daughters, Merrie Hallman of Cary, N.C., and Frances Jara of Livingston Manor; two sisters, Edna O'Connel of Florida and Vera Cawein of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a grand son, Thomas Jara; and two brothers, Charles and James Morman.
A memorial service will be held in spring at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

William Sanders, 53
William Allan Sanders of Liberty died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 53.
The son of Ida Yankowitz Sanders and the late Kenneth Sanders, he was born May 4, 1953 in Yonkers.
In his youth, William participated in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Later, he joined ROTC, and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his mother, Ida Sanders of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Colleen Sanders and Michelle Hammer, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Lena Pearsall-Sanders and Breauna Sanders; two sons, William Pearsall-Sanders and Kenny Sanders, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth; his brother, John Sanders; and his grandparents, Irving and Mary Yankowitz.
Graveside services with military honors were held Sunday, February 4, in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans.

Business Owner, 88
Madalyn B. Dolan DuBois of Wallkill, owner of Dolan Orchards in Wallkill and a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at home. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Roscoe and Edna Green Bell, she was born May 2, 1918 in Summitville.
She was a member of the Reformed Church of Shawangunk, the New Paltz Garden Club and the Wallkill Women's Club.
She was the widow of Duane Dolan and Fred H. Dubois.
Survivors include her son, Robert J. Dolan and wife, Judy, of Wallkill; two daughters, Diane D. Hodge and husband, Raymond, of Nicholasville, Ky., and Linda J. Hadfield and husband, William, of Boulder, Mt.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Fred W. DuBois of New Paltz, and Edward DuBois of Minneapolis, Minn., and several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Perry; a brother, Roscoe Bell; and a sister, Dorothy Gemmel.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
