Ida Hadden
Homemaker, 82

Ida Mae Hadden, a homemaker of Bloomingburg, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown.
Mrs. Hadden was born December 4, 1924 in Middletown. She was the widow of Joseph Hadden Sr.
She was a member of Scotchtown Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Wendy, wife of Harry Hentz of the state of Florida, Kathy, wife of Bob Nenna of Greenwood Lake, Charlotte Hadden of Coldenham and Terry Rivera of South Fallsburg; five sons, Tim Hadden and his wife Donna of Bloomingburg, Paul Hadden and Bobbie Hadden and his wife, Tracey, all of Middletown, Rick Hadden of Virginia Beach, Va., and David Hadden and his wife, Debbie, of the state of Florida; two sisters, Jane, wife of Luke Howell of Walden, and Ann Kline of the state of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Hadden.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, at the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church, Scotchtown. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in Scotchtown Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jean Risley officiating. Burial will be made in Scotchtown Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Morse Funeral Home, Middletown.

Gloria Schwartz
Homemaker, 68

Gloria J. Schwartz of Honesdale, Pa., died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at home, after an illness. She is survived by her husband, Albert Schwartz.
The daughter of the late Ernest and Georgia Rundle Horton, she was born in Port Jervis.
She graduated from Eldred High School and went on to pursue a degree in Elementary Education at the Sullivan County BOCES Education Program. Gloria was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Indian Orchard.
She is survived by two sons, John Dyser and Jeff Dyser, both of Honesdale; two daughters, Dorraine Freiermuth of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Penny Dyser of Honesdale; three stepsons, Adam Schwartz, and Albert Schwartz, both of Honesdale, and Matthew Schwartz of Carbondale; four sisters, Emaline Leek of Eldred, Elizabeth Wingert of Yulan, Madeline Weiss of White Lake, and Betty Milk of Hancock; sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild; a niece, Heather Barker of Zephyr Hills, Fl., and several other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Ernest and Kenneth Horton.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, Pa. with Rev. F. Graham Cliff officiating. Burial was made in Indian Orchard Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Memorial Hospice, 601 Park Street, Honesdale, Pa 18431.

Thomas Latzen, 55

Thomas Morris “Doc” Latzen of Brooklyn and Loch Sheldrake, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at a close friend's home, comfortably in his sleep. He was 55.
The son of the late Murray and Pamela Billetz Latzen Sr., he was born August 5, 1951 in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan.
He married Susan Peters on April 4, 1981 in St. Thomas's Catholic Church, Queens. His only loving son, Sean Thomas Latzen, was born nine months later on January 8, 1982. He survives with both in loving memory. Tommy was a warm heart, connected to a helping hand, surrounded by a cool wit that had been sharpened with years of cynicism. He was an exhausted Hustler with a heart of gold and a "Bad Back." He had been involved with various organizations over the years, maintaining a very deep and private spirituality.
He is survived by two brothers, retired Lieutenant Murray Latzen of NYCPD and his wife. Thelma of Queens, and Jonathon D'Agostino of Staten Island; and his only niece, Michele, of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services were held February 3 at the Church of The Immaculate Conception with Father John Lynch officiating.
Arrangements were by Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.

Donna Battipaglia
Homemaker, 55

Donna Battipaglia of Middletown died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. She was 55.
The daughter of George and Gladys Wilbert LeFever, she was born December 7, 1951 in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband, Pasquale Battipaglia, at home; her daughter, Kimberly Battipaglia and her fiancé Edward Wilkins of Wurtsboro; her brother-in-law, Joseph Battipaglia and his wife Margaret of Middletown; a sister-in-law, Mary Malone of Queens; nieces and nephews, Michael and Maria Battipaglia of Middletown, Theresa Malone of Mt. Pocono, Pa., Colleen Hoffman and her husband David of Seaford, John Malone and his wife Lisa of Long Island; and grandnieces and nephews, Michelle and Alyssa Vuono, David and Dylan Hoffman.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Park Manor for the 15 years of care they provided for Donna.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, February 5 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middletown. Burial was made in Wallkill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under guidance of Morse Funeral Home Inc.

Conrad Mason, 76
Ret. Super of Trans.

Conrad C. "Bud" Mason of Forestburgh, formerly of Matamoras, Pa., died Saturday, May 26, 2001, after a brief illness. He was 76 years of age.
The son of John B. and Freda Schock Mason, he was born March 19, 1925, in Sparrowbush.
A Marine veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific Theatre where he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Mason was employed at Orange and Rockland Utilities for 29 years and retired in 1983 as the Supervisor of Transportation of the Eastern Division. He previously owned and operated Mason's Garage in Matamoras, Pa.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a 1944 graduate of Port Jervis High School. He was a charter member and past chief of the Westfall Township Fire Department, a life member of the Matamoras Fire Department, a member, former trustee and house committee member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #645, a former member of the Matamoras Water Department, a life member of the 4th Marine Division Association, a member of the Marsh-Kellogg Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and vice president of the Forestburgh Senior Citizens Club.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine Drescher Mason, at home; a son, Steven K. Mason of Matamoras, Pa.; a daughter, Juanita M. Wilsey of Saugerties; four grandchildren, Eric M. Wilsey and Karen M. Wilsey of Saugerties, and Matthew S. and Kyle J. Mason of Matamoras, Pa.; and several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were followed by interment in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

Georgianna I. Smith

Georgianna I. Smith of Harris died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Smith, at home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Katie Smith Jr. and Randy Hillriegel, all of Harris; a daughter, Roxanne Smith of Monticello; five grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Terry Zeininger of Livingston Manor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., Friday at the Dorothy Memorial Home, 121 Main St., Afton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Christopher Prezorski officiating.
Burial will be made in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton.

Maria Nakonechna
Homemaker, 97

Maria Nakonechna of Glen Spey, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. She was 97 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ivan and Anna Radow, she was born August 23, 1903, in Ukraine.
Mrs. Nakonechna was a member of St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey, the Ukrainian National Association and the Glen Spey Senior Citizens Group.
She is survived by a daughter, Stefanla Kashuba of Glen Spey, two sons, Wasyl Nakonechna and Ewhen Nakonechna, both of Ukraine; two granddaughters, Nadia Tanasiczuk and Luba Nakonechna of Brooklyn; and a great-grandson, Oleh Nakonechna of Brooklyn.
Services were held Thursday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis, followed by a Liturgy Mass at St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey with the Rev. Olesksa Kostyk officiating.
Burial was made in Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2105 Route 43, Glen Spey, N.Y. 12737.

Gail C. Friedman
Teacher, 52

Gail Clark Friedman of San Jose, Calif., a native of Livingston Manor, died Thursday, February 15, 2001, at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Calif. She was 52 years of age.
The daughter of the late Cecil and Margaret Clark, she was born May 18, 1948, in Liberty.
Mrs. Friedman was a graduate of Corning Community College and SUNY at Oneonta. She earned her Master's degree at San Jose State. She was a former fifth grade teacher at the Goshen Middle School and was a training specialist for Underwriter's Laboratory in San Jose, Calif. She was also a member of the IBM Amateur Radio Club.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a loving, caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend whose beautiful spirit and strength was an inspiration to all of us. We will miss her sweet smile and unconditional love."
She is survived by her husband, Jack Friedman, and a son, Scott Friedman, both of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Joyce Clark Gardner of Montgomery and Shirley Weigand of Liberty; a brother-in-law, Donald Weigand of Liberty; two nephews, Neil Gardner of Bloomingburg and Jesse Weigand of Liberty; a niece, Lacey Weigand of Liberty; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nathan and Helen Friedman, a brother-in-law, William Friedman and his wife, Joann, all of Harris; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held Thursday followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Morgan Hill, Calif.

Eugene R. Noble
Ret. FBI Agent, 80

Eugene R. Noble of Beach Lake, Pa., a former special agent for the FBI and a longtime area resident, died Monday, February 19, 2001, at his home. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Samuel and Mildred Olver Noble, he was born February 5, 1921, in Honesdale, Pa. He was the widower of Lillian Irwin.
Mr. Noble was employed by the FBI from 1941 to 1974 as a special agent. He also worked as a security insurance officer for Fidelity Union Trust Company in Newark, N.J, and from 1986 to 1996 he was fairways superintendent for Cricket Hill Golf Club in Hawley, Pa.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion in Honesdale, Pa., the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545 in Liberty, the National Rifle Association and the Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Northeast Chapter. He was also a member of the Cricket Hill Golf Club in Hawley, Pa., and the Clerbrook Men's Golf Association in Clermont, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean Walston Noble, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy S. and Patricia Noble of Honesdale, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Roxanne and Keith Orr and Camille and James Sage, all of Groton; a step-daugher, Jo Ann Simon of Cartaret, N.J.; two sisters, Eleanor Rice of Deposit and Virginia Dutton of Tyler Hill, Pa.; two brothers, William O. Noble of Raleigh, N.C. and Donald Noble of Honesdale, Pa.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, at the Calkins Union Baptist Church in Calkins, Pa., with the Rev. Lane Jones officiating.
Burial of the cremains will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calkins Union Baptist Church, Milanville, Pa. 18443 or to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.
