Lucille Griffith of Tyler Hill, Pa., a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at the Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, Pa. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Ethel Rolston Stephens, she was born on March 24, 1912, in Fallsdale, Pa. She was the widow of Orlo Wilsey who died in 1948.
Mrs. Griffith was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church in Damascus, Pa.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Thomas D. Griffith, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Clayton Crum of Beach Lake, Pa.; a son, Thomas E. Griffith of Tyler Hill, Pa.; a sister, Doris Loscig of Pottstown, Pa.; two brothers, Merlin Stephens of Fallsdale, Pa., and Stanley Stephens of Honesdale, Pa; two grandchildren, Colleen Brink and Steven Crum; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services were held Wednesday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. George Gallandorm officiating.
Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.

Mary L.C. Addy
Ret. Teacher, 97
Mary LaMoree Coombe Addy, a more than 70-year resident of Highland Park, N.J., died Friday, February 2, 2001, at the McCarrick Care Center in Somerset, N.J. She was 97 years of age.
She was born in Marlboro and grew up in Arlington, N.J., where her father was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Thomas E. Addy Sr. who died in 1970.
Mrs. Addy was a graduate of Kearny (N.J.) High School and the New Jersey College for Women (Douglass College) Class of 1924. She taught home economics in the Kearny School System until her marriage. She was a member of the Reformed Church of Highland Park and active in its women's organization and sewing group. She was also a member of the Douglass Alumnae Association.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Addy Jr. and his wife, Gytha of New Brunswick, N.J., and William Coombe Addy and Richard Hardwick Addy, both of Highland Park, N.J.; a daughter, Mary LaMoree Addy of Harrisonburg, Va.; a sister, Helen C. Coombe of Kearny, N.J.; and a brother, Philip Coombe of Grahamsville.
Services were held February 6 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home in Highland Park, N.J.
Burial was made in the Elmwood Cemetery in New Brunswick, N.J.

Mathilda L. Boyd
Ret. Cafeteria Super, 84
Mathilda Louise Boyd, a more than 55-year resident of Macedon and a retired cafeteria superintendent for Bausch and Lomb in Rochester, died Friday, September 28, 2001. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter F. and Julia Miller Hermann, she was born April 23, 1917, in Callicoon. She was the widow of William J. Boyd who died in 1975.
Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Hortonville Presbyterian Church, a member and past president of the Lincoln Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member and past president of the Senior Citziens in Ontario and a former member of the Grange. She had resided at the Kirkhaven Nursing Home in Rochester for the past several years.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William P. and Sharon Boyd of Macedon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Gotte of Macedon and Ellen Buckholtz of Webster; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Fred and Eileen Hermann and Leota Hermann, all of Callicoon, and Virginia Gridley of Hicksville, L.I.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Jean Boyd of Cuba; nine nieces; six nephews; and a number of grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Costello who died in 1990; two brothers, Quintin Hermann who died in 1990, and Paul Hermann who died in 1986; a nephew, Robert Hermann who died in 1996 and a son-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Buckholtz who died in 1997.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hortonville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ron Leigh officiating.
Burial will be made in the Hortonville Cemetery in Hortonville.

William G. Dill of Woodbourne, a maintenance worker and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, September 27, 2001. He was 58 years of age.
The son of Anna Wagner Dill and the late George Dill, he was born March 6, 1943, in Liberty.
Mr. Dill was an avid sportsman and a member of the Woodbourne Hunting Club.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Linda Goetz, at home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cyndy and Joe Angelastro of Orlando, Fla., Pamela and Frank Yoli of Liberty, and Tricia Decker and her companion, Rich Klein, of White Sulphur Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Ethel Dill of Maitland, Fla., and David and Karen Hook of Liberty; his mother of Norwich; two sisters, Marilyn Chan of Norwich and Jeanne DePuy and her husband, Douglas, of Woodbourne; eight grandchildren; and his adopted in-laws, William and Mabel Heisler of Liberty.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at The Church of The Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Virginia Wakeman
Ret Bank Mgr., 94
Virginia T. Wakeman of Yankee Lake and Southbury, Conn., a retired bank manager in Bridgeport, Conn., died Thursday, September 27, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 94 years of age.
Mrs. Wakeman was a member of the Yankee Lake Preservation Association.
She is survived by a son, Edwin Wakeman of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia Blocker of Bethlehem, Pa., and Ann Neller of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Jennings.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday afternoon, October 20, at her home in Yankee Lake.

Vivian Naomi Stickney of Livingston Manor, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, September 28, 2001, at her home. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late Lewis and Mildred David Smith, she was born January 24, 1932, in Sidney.
Mrs. Stickney was the widow of John Young. She is survived by five sons, Timothy Smith of Fishs Eddy, John Young of Livingston Manor, James Young and his wife, Connie, of Livingston Manor, Thomas Young of Livingston Manor, and Gary Young and his wife, Sheila of Fishs Eddy; two daughters, Patricia Young of Syracuse and Kathy Brown and her husband, Dave, of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, William Smith of Ferndale; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by two half brothers, Henry Irwin and Nolie Irwin.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor with the Rev. H. Markham Fargo officiating.
Cremation was private.
Interment of the cremains will be made in the Liberty Cemetery at a later date.

Helen C. McGill Friedman of Harris, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, following an illness. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph A. and Margrit Ackeret Groh, she was born November 11, 1931, in Baltimore, Md. She was the widow of Robert W.P. McGill.
Mrs. Friedman was a graduate of Middletown High School and Marion Junior College in Marion, Va. She was formerly employed by the law firm of Gerstan, Kestman and Ladina and the law firm of Rosen and Rosen, both in Monticello.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Friedman, at home; two daughters, Kathleen McGill Smith of Rock Hill and Melissa M. McGill and her husband, Carl Adami of High Falls; two sons, Joseph P. and his wife, Monica McGill, of White Lake, and Neil M. McGill of Rock Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Louis Roeper of Rome, Pa.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two stepsons, William Friedman of Harris and Jack Friedman of San Jose, Calif.; two nieces, Hazel Roeper Goldstein of Port Jervis and Susan Roeper Monaco of Bealeton, Va.; and a nephew, A.P. Roeper of Lyndeborough, N.H.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 7, at 2 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Middletown with the Rev. Peter Rustico officiating.

Eldora P. McArthur of Livingston Manor, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, September 28, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 76 years of age.
The daughter of the late Harry and Pearl Bilyou Huebsch, she was born October 27, 1924, in Liberty. She was the widow of Stanley J. McArthur who died in 1978.
She is survived by three sons, Stanley A. McArthur and Gerald "Jerry" McArthur, both of Livingston Manor, and Albert J. McArthur of Liberty; five daughters, Brenda D'Agata of Livingston Manor, Kathleen Maus of Jeffersonville, May Fulton of Cochecton, Alberta "Bertie" Gale of Jeffersonville and Amy Girard of Youngsville; two brothers, Clarence Huebsch of Liberty and Lester Huebsch of Arkansas; three sisters, Mabel Richie of East Orange, N.J., and Henrietta Phelps and Rose Marie Hewlett, both of Liberty; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 So. Main St., Liberty with the Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

NYC Firefighter, 39
Michael G. Montesi of Highland Mills, a firefighter in Rescue #1, Battalion #1 of the New York City Fire Department, and a nine-year area resident, has been missing since Tuesday, September 11, 2001, after the disaster at the World Trade Center in New York City. He was 39 years of age.
The son of George and Margaret Rudolph Montesi, he was born January 7, 1962, in New Hyde Park.
Mr. Montesi was a former member of the New Hyde Park Volunteer Fire Department in New Hyde Park and a former member of the Central Valley Volunteer Fire Department in Central Valley.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mike Montesi's greatest love and passion was his family. He enjoyed spending all his free time with his three sons, Matthew, Ian and Ryan. He was a true hero who loved being a fireman."
He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Montesi, and three sons, Matthew, age 6, Ian, age 5, and Ryan, age 3, all at home; his father and his mother, both of Woodbourne; a sister, Maria Lauria of Woodbourne; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Highland Mills with The Rev. Gerard P. Travers officiating.
