Olga Horvath of Bloomingburg, a retired secretary for Fellezer Engineer, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Michael and Jaroslawa Hupalowski Tkach, she was born May 5, 1919, in Allentown Pa. She was married to Eugene S. Horvath in 1952 in Bloomingburg.
Mrs. Horvath was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in New York City. She was a founding member and the first president of the Bloomingburg Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Bloomingburgh Restoration Foundation, a member of the Bloomingburg Grange, a board member of the Association of Lithuanian Workers, a member of the American Cancer Society and a member of various other community organizations.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Horvath) and James Duvoli, and two grandchildren, Sara and Michael Duvoli, all of Bloomingburg; a brother, William Tkach of Rochester; a niece, Susan Tkach of Rochester; a nephew, Conrad Tkach of the state of Florida; and close family friends, Ronald Dailey and his family, of Argyle, Wisc.
Friends may call on Friday at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Homemaker, 77
Mabel Stanton of Livingston Manor, a longtime area resident and a homemaker, died Monday, January 28, 2002, at her home. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late Oscar and Vera Longspauch Stanton, she was born January 24, 1925, in Glen Spey.
She is survived by a sister, Grace Stanton of Wappingers Falls.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, with the Rev. Donald Baker officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty.
Joseph Gorczynski
Hvy. Equip. Oper., 60
Joseph Gorczynski of Westtown, the former owner of the Sundown Inn in Pine Island and a heavy equipment operator for Calmart Construction in Florida, N.Y., died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at St. Clare's Hospital in Sussex, N.J. He was 60 years of age.
The son of the late Sylvester and Frances Zemke Gorczynski, he was born February 22, 1941, in Poland.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Chardavoyne Gorczynski of Westtown; two daughters, Cindy Dunlop of Oak Ridge, N.J., and Kim Spangenburg of Hamburg, N.J.; six grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and Sarah Dunlop of Oak Ridge, N.J., and David, Travis and Nicole Spangenburg of Hamburg, N.J.; two sisters, Bernadette Bigert of Pine Island and Theresa Piccirilli of Bloomingburg; five brothers, Constanty "Connie" Gorczynski of Cornwall, John S. Gorczynski of Pine Island, Edward S. Gorczynski of Florida, N.Y., Kazimierz "Cas" Gorczynski of the state of Florida, and Louis Gorczynski of Westtown; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Chester Gorczynski, and a sister, Ursula Buda.
Friends may call at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route #1, Pine Island on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island.
Burial will be made in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Pine Island.

Clara G.M. Vandivier

Clara G. Goodman Morgan Vandivier of Ft. Myers and Lehigh Acres, Fla., died Tuesday, September 24, 2002. She was the widow of Ronal G. Morgan who died in 1987.
Mrs. Vandivier retired from Katz Underwear Co. in Honesdale, Pa., as a floor lady with 35 years of service. An honorary member of the Alert Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, she was a former 60-year member of the First Baptist Church of Honesdale, Pa. Mrs. Vandivier is now a member of the United Methodist Church in Tice, Fla.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverley Morgan Meckle of Narrowsburg and Judy Morgan Reed of Pinellas Park, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Margery Morgan Mather of Vestal; a son, Michael Morgan of Cullowee, N.C., a stepson, Larry Vandivier of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Scott of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Edna Simmons of Mocksville, N.C. Two brothers, Walter Goodman and Earl Goodman, and a sister, Liddie Smith, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, Pa., with the Rev. Paul Hagedorne of the Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg officiating.
Interment will be made in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Gertrude S. Kogon
Ret. Teacher, 90
Gertrude Scheinman Kogon of Boca Raton, Fla., died Monday, September 30, 2002, in West Boca Medical Center in Florida, from heart failure. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Morris and Anna Scheinman, she was born in the village of Mozyr Dyello, Russia, on December 26, 1911.
Mrs. Kogon grew up in Greenfield Park and spent most of her adult life in Queens. She was a teacher in the New York City School System prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the New York State Retired Teacher's Association, the University Club of the City of New York and Congregation B'nai Israel of Woodbourne.
Mrs. Kogon is survived by a sister, Sonya Weiss of Boca Raton, Fla.; two nephews and their wives, Robert and Karla Scheinman of Woodbourne and Steven and Deborah Knuth Scheinman of Hamilton; a niece, Ava Kemman and her husband, Bruce, of Morristown, N.J.; a grand-nephew, Edward Scheinman; three grand-nieces, Sara, Lisa and Jane Scheinman; and numerous extended family members with whom she maintained a close and loving relationship. She was predeceased by a brother, Louis B. Scheinman.
Following a memorial service at Century Village West Synagogue in Boca Raton, funeral services were held Wednesday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with Rabbi Irving Goodman officiating.
Interment was made in Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Ruth Kent of Masten Lake, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at her home. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward and Claire Ackerman Gorman, she was born April 11, 1928, in Paterson, N.J.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Russell W. Kent Sr., at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell W. Jr. and Joanne Kent of Montvale, N.J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Thomas Davis of Honesdale, Pa.; a sister, Estelle Kent of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Trey, Matthew, Jodie, Kristopher and Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Wurtsboro.
Robert Loewinger
Ret. Clothier, 72
Robert Loewinger of Monticello, the retired owner and operator of Men's World Boy's Town Clothing Store in Monticello and a longtime area resident, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 72 years of age.
The son of the late Paul and Belle Pincus Loewinger, he was born March 26, 1929, in New York City.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Loewinger is survived by a son, Michael Loewinger of New City; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Alvin Katz of New York; five stepchildren, Robert, James, Joseph and Kathleen Macedonio, all of Long Island, and Jessica Lippis of New York City; two nieces, Jill and Trish; and his former wife, Cookie Pollack.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday at the Temple Sholom Cemetery in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Irving Krongel
Ret. Baker, 87
Irving Krongel of Jeffersonville, the retired owner/operator of the former Krongel's Bakery in Jeffersonville and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Alex and Bessie Frost Krongel, he was born January 6, 1915, in New York City.
Mr. Krongel was a 50-year member of the Jeffersonville Fire Company, a member of the Jeffersonville Lions Club, the Jeffersonville Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Jeffersonville Synagogue.
In a family statement, it was said, "A well-known local historian and self-taught educator, he went from bread to the Bible."
Mr. Krongel is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sophie Waxman Krongel, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Steven Grossman of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Krongel of Jeffersonville; a sister, Annette Krongel Tofield of California; a grandson, Jed Grossman of New York City; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Krongel.
Services were held at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Thursday with Rabbi Joel Schwab officiating.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Synagogue Cemetery in Jeffersonville.

Fred A. Lewis, 80
Owner of Motel/Apts.
Fred A. "Handsome Freddie" Lewis of Ferndale, the owner of Ackerman's Motel and Handsome Freddie's Apartments in Ferndale and a 33-year area resident, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 80 years of age.
The son of Garnett Lyn Lewis and the late Joseph Lewis, he was born January 4, 1922, in Jamaica, West Indies.
Mr. Lewis was a member and head usher of St. Peter's Church and a 4th degree Knight of Father Cronin Council #4768, Knights of Columbus, both in Liberty. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie Lum Lewis, at home; his mother of Toronto, Canada; four daughters, Kitty Lee of Jacksonville, Fla., Suzan Evans and her husband, Charles, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Lydia Lewis of Accord and Christina Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif.; and four granddaughters, Marisa Purcell, Marianne Purcell, Kathryn Perry and Meghan Perry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at noon at St. Peter's Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty.
