Kenneth Quinn
Ret. Security Guard, 79

Kenneth Quinn of the Town of Thompson, a retired security guard at Stewart Air Force Base and a longtime area resident, formerly of Newburgh, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late John and Josephine Clegg Quinn, he was born January 12, 1921, in Cobleskill.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Brosnahan of Pensacola, Fla.
Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.

Burial Services of Goldie Davis, 89

Interment of the cremains of Goldie Davis of Long Eddy, who died August 1, 2000, at the age of 89, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Halsey Cemetery in Long Eddy.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.

Bella Bresky
Ret. Bookkeeper, 90

Bella Bresky of South Fallsburg, a retired bookkeeper for Falls Poultry in South Fallsburg and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at her home. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Louis and Numa Cherry, she was born December 24, 1909, in Poland. She was the widow of Benjamin Bresky.
Mrs. Bresky was a member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, Hadassah and B’nai B’rith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Murray and Ellen Bresky of South Fallsburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Monroe Levine of South Fallsburg; seven grandchildren, Leonard, Steven, Richard, Lynda, Lisa, Stacey and Deborah; 11 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Blake, Jacqueline, Casey, Benjamin, Morgan, Cody, Madison, Cory, Matthew and Mayah; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Carl Bresky.
Services were held Tuesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb officiating.
Burial was made in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery in Glen Wild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550 or to the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, South Fallsburg, N.Y. 12779.

Donald Fulton
Ret. Farmer, 86

Donald Fulton of Cochecton, a retired farmer and lifelong area resident, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Orin and Edna Broadhead Fulton, he was born October 19, 1913, in Bethel.
Mr. Fulton was a member of the Sullivan County Beekeepers Association and the Cochecton Republican Club.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel Just Fisher Fulton, at home; two daughters, Alice Kelly of Hilton and Irene Wright and her husband, Norman, of Old Fort, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Barbara Fisher of Kendall and Arthur and Beth Fisher of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jacob Wielhouwer officiating.
Burial of the cremains will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Lake Huntington, N.Y. 12752.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.

Sandor Kovacs
Ret. Pastry Chef, 77

Sandor Kovacs of Liberty, a retired pastry chef and an area resident for over 50 years, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at his home. He was 77 years of age.
He was born in Hungary on March 23, 1923.
Mr. Kovacs was trained as a baker and pastry chef in Europe. A communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, he had worked at several local resorts.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Roth Kovacs, at home; a daughter, Julia Defio of Philadelphia, Pa.; four brothers in Europe; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, in Liberty, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Liberty.

Ai Francis Sherwood
Ret. Teacher, 66

Ai Francis Sherwood, a 38-year resident of Loudonville, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Albany after a long illness. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late Ai McMillan and Dora Kilcoin Sherwood, he was born in Monticello and raised and educated in Swan Lake.
Mr. Sherwood was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving in Greenland. He was a graduate of Albany State Teachers College where he earned his Master’s in Education. He was a business and computer teacher at Shaker Senior High School for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Sherwood also coached JV football and taught Driver Education at Albany Academy.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Dexheimer Sherwood; four daughters, Barbara Sherwood of Latham, Doran and her husband, Stanley McDannold and BetsiJane Sherwood , all of Lansingburg, and Louise and her husband, Dennis Embree Sr., of Copake; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Burt Finley of Hudson, Fla.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John A. Knarvik officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, N.Y 12205.

Arthur C. Pearson
Ret. Computer Spl., 66

Arthur C. Pearson of Montgomery, a retired computer specialist for IBM, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at his home. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late William Ross and Eileen Flynn Pearson, he was born January 10, 1934, in Poughkeepsie. He was the widower of Loretta Marie Montanye Pearson.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he also served in the Air Force Reserve and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 37 in Poughkeepsie.
He is survived by three sons, Vincent Ellis Manny Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., Richard Manny of Middletown and Arthur C. Pearson Jr. of Montgomery; two daughters, Donna Cruver of Monticello and Portia Stewart of Poughkeepsie; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen Pearson of Poughkeepsie; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Millspaugh Funeral Home in Walden.
Burial was made in the Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.

John Egelsen
Ret. Wabash College

John Egelsen of Crawfordsville, Ind., a retired employee of Wabash College, died Thursday, August 3, 2000, at St. Cloud’s Hospital in Crawfordsville, Ind. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late Thorolf and Jeannette Carswell Egelsen, he was born October 25, 1922, in New York City.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Egelsen retired from the military.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Stites, at home; a daughter, Nancy; a son, John; three sisters, Frances Everett of Staten Island, Zelia Vanacore of Poughkeepsie and Elizabeth Griffin of Roscoe; and a brother, Ralph Egelsen of Little Falls, N.J.
Services were held in Crawfordsville, Ind., followed by burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Dansville, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 3504, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603.
Local arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.

Charlotte Schellberg
Ret. Advisor, 61

Charlotte Lillian Ostrander Schellberg of Damascus Township, Pa., died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at her home following an illness. She was 61 years of age.
The daughter of Charlotte Donovan Ostrander and the late Francis Ostrander, she was born May 13, 1939, in Wallkill.
Mrs. Schellberg was a graduate of Damascus High School and attended East Stroudsburg University. She was employed as a human resource advisor for the Becton-Dickinson Company in Hancock until she retired in September of 1999 after 28 years with the company. She was a member of the Abrahamsville United Methodist Church.
In a family statement, it was said, “She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.”
She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Schellberg Sr., at home, whom she married May 13, 1963; two sons, Richard Schellberg Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Chestnut Ridge, and Michael Schellberg and his wife, Cathy, of West Warwick, R.I.; a daughter, Jill McConnell of Welcome Lake; a brother, Jon Ostrander of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Shirley Ostrander of Lookout, Pa., and Kathy Ostrander of Columbia, Md.; three grandchildren, Riley and Devon McConnell and Kyle Schellberg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Ostrander who died in 1989, and Robert Ostrander who died in 1998.
Cremation was made at the Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald, Pa.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Abrahamsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Gallandorm, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be made in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Galilee, Pa.
