Ret. Iron Wkr., 89
James E. LaPolt of Woodbourne, a retired iron worker, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 89 years of age.
The son of the late James E. Sr. and Catherine Earts LaPolt, he was born March 10, 1914, in Woodbourne. He was the widower of Jean LaPolt who died January 19, 1999.
Mr. LaPolt was a member and lecturer in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne; a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Toppert and a son, Donald LaPolt and his wife, Patricia, all of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Steven, three brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne with Fr. John Lynch officiating.
Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Evelyn B. Grabowy
Ret. Bookkeeper, 87
Evelyn Bronte Grabowy of Nanuet, a more than 50-year resident of Rockland County and a retired 20-year bookkeeper for Lederle, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Nyack Hospital. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Nicholas and Virginia Speroni Mazzochi, she was born October 21, 1915, in Manhattan. She was the widow of Jeff Bronte who died in 1959 and Walter Grabowy who died in 2002.
She was a member of the Nanuet Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In a family statement, it was said, "She enjoyed sewing, gardening, Bible study, cooking and entertaining. Evelyn loved to have pool parties. Her favorite time was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
She is survived by a son, Jeff Bronte of Nanuet; four daughters, Judy Russo of Montvale, N.J., Adriene McCullough of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Carol Bronte of Westbrookville, and Nancy Bronte-Caldwell of Pearle City, Ill; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Grace Baptist Church in Nanuet, followed by burial in the Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery in Monsey.
Luella ‘Mae’ Carroll
Ret. Bank Offc., 85
Luella "Mae" Carroll of Middletown and longtime summer resident of Cochecton, a retired trust operations officers with the Bank of New York (retiring in 1986) and then an employee of the Orange County Trust Company in Middletown, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late William M. and Cynthia Tyler Porr, she was born September 13, 1917, in Cochecton. She was the widow of William Carroll.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Carroll of Middletown; and two nieces, Linda Guinan and her family of Callicoon, and Janet Topolewski and her family of Maine. She was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Tegeler and Bernice Kieseler.
Friends may call at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.

A memorial service for Peter H. Jackson who died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his home, will be held Saturday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in North Branch. Rev. Kristen Anderson will officiate.
Friends are invited to attend a reception afterwards in the undercroft of the church.
Elvira E. Flyntz
Homemaker, 84
Elvira E. Flyntz of Mongaup Valley, a homemaker, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at her home. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Lloyd and Eletha Hartman Lawrence, she was born February 11, 1919, in Glendale, Queens.
Mrs. Flyntz was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Mongaup Valley.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Flyntz, at home; and two cousins, Rosemary Liburd of British Columbia, Canada, and Ann Davies and her husband, David of Smallwood.
Cremation was private at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
A Memorial Mass was offered Thursday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Mongaup Valley with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Kauneonga Lake.
Osborn Stanton, 86
Ret. Ins. Office Mgr.
Osborn C. Stanton of Sarasota, Fla., a former insurance man in Monticello, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at his home, following a short illness. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Albert G. and Anna Osborn Stanton, he was born and raised in Monticello.
Mr. Stanton was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 206th Port Company in the Pacific Theatre of War where he served in Okinawa and eventually in Korea.
After graduating from Hobart College where he was a member of Sigma Chi, Mr. Stanton worked in the insurance business in Monticello and then managed offices for Continental Insurance in Utica and finally in Buffalo.
He was an active member of the Monticello Club for many years and was active in church and civic groups. He was a member of the Monticello Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons and the Sahib Shrine in Sarasota. Following retirement, he enjoyed boating, fishing and his family, renovating his cottage and gardening. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Mr. Stanton was also very much involved in researching family history.
Mr. Stanton is survived by his wife, Vivian Martin Stanton, at home; two daughters, Virginia Ann Potkay and Marilyn M. Ameduri, both of Massachusetts; five granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Albert Stanton; a sister, Jennie Gonzalez; and his close friends for many years, Lawrence and Grace Lagarenne.
Burial will be made at a later date in Geneva, N.Y.
Dolores M. Rucano
Homemaker, 65
Dolores M. "Chickie" Rucano of Fort Montgomery, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 65 years of age.
The daughter of the late George and Elvira D'Antonio Jusino, she was born August 5, 1937, in Suffern.
Mrs. Rucano was a life member of the Fort Montgomery Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Frank P. Rucano, at home; three sons, Michael F. Rucano of Fort Montgomery, Robert A. Rucano Sr. of Highland Falls, and Gary T. Rucano of Fort Montgomery; three daughters, Deborah A. Rucano of Watertown, Jeanmarie Rucano of Highland Falls, and Lisa J. Ruscelli of New Windsor; a brother, Vincent Jusino of Stony Point; three sisters, Dolly Ferrer of Fort Montgomery, Lenore Rodriguez of Wurtsboro and Joanne Culligan of Downsville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Sonny Jusino.
A Funeral Mass was offered Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls with the Rev. Jack Arlotta officiating.
Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw.

for James M. Bonnell
Graveside services with military honors will be held for James M. Bonnell of Grahamsville who died February 16, 2003, at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Route 55, Grahamsville, on Saturday, at 11 a.m. Rev. Paul Ruter will officiate.
Mr. Bonnell was a retired Lieutenant for the New York State Department of Corrections at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Woodbourne and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Douglas F. Kimble
Ret. Carpenter, 60
Douglas Frank "Snake" Kimble of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., a master carpenter before he retired to Tennessee, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital. He was 60 years of age.
The son of Harry and Grace Adams Kimble, he was a native of New York State.
He is survived by his wife, Roxann Allen Kimble, at home; his parents of Middletown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Duke and Holly Kimble of Middletown, Kevin and Tina Allen of Jackson, Tenn., and Mark and Linda Kimble of Bloomingburg; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Ken Howell of Nixa, Mo., Melissa Allen of Willard, Mo., and Tammy and Mark Hufcut of Bloomingburg; a sister-in-law, Connie Kimble of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Tomi Kimble of Pennsylvania; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Bruce Thorne of Middletown; 13 grandchildren, with one expected; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life was held at his home on Thursday. Another celebration will be held later in New York State.
Burial was private.

Homemaker, 75
Shirley Ingber of South Fallsburg, a more than 50-year area resident, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 75 years of age.
The daughter of the late Hilda and Mack Weisbraut, she was a native of New York State.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Ingber of South Fallsburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Pam Ingber of Thompson Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Steven Bender of Pocantico Hills; four grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Pagoda of Delray Beach, Fla.
Private services were held at the Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello on Monday.
Burial was made at the South Fallsburg Synagogue Cemetery in Glen Wild.
The family is sitting shiva at the Bender residence, 17 Kings Grant Way, Briarcliff Manor.
