Eugene Lifshitz
Ret. Chief Engr., 79

Eugene Lifshitz of Greenfield Park, a former chief engineer at Tamarack Lodge in Greenfield Park and a 37-year area resident, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at his home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of Harry and Sarah Levine Lifshitz, he was born January 1, 1923, in the Town of Bethel. He was the widower of Alberta Lesofsky Lifshitz who died May 7, 1998.
Mr. Lifshitz was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a benefactor of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Ulster Heights Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Shawangunk Senior Citizens.
He is survived by a son, Morgan Ross of New York City; a granddaughter, Laura Lawrence of Bowling Green, Kty.; and several nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours. Cremation was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellenville First Aid & Rescue Squad, Webster St., Ellenville, N.Y. 12438 or to the charity of one's choice.

Angelo Pollos
Ret. Chef, 79

Angelo Pollos of Harris, a retired chef, died suddenly Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at his home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Vlases and Anna Yoskovski Pollos, he was born May 17, 1923, in New York City.
A World War II veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of the Bailey-Richman Post No. 9588, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Monticello. Mr. Pollos was a 10-year volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program, and had been employed at the Landfill & Recycle Center in Monticello for the past three months.
He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Pollos of Loch Sheldrake, and Connie and Andrea; a step-daughter, Kayla LaPolt; eight grandchildren, including Tatyanna and Lamont Pollos of Loch Sheldrake; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Darlene Wickberg.
Services were held Thursday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Interment was made in Pinelawn Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Wilma P. Wagner
Homemaker, 95

Wilma Poley Wagner of North Branch, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Bogota, N.J. She was 95 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Bertha Ballard Poley, she was born August 29, 1907, in North Branch. She was the widow of Adolph C. Wagner Jr. who died in January of 2002, after 78 years of marriage.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Obernburg. She was a former longtime member of the Callicoon Center Band and the Callicoon Center Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In a family statement, it was said that "Mom was an accomplished saxophone player and performed for many years with the Callicoon Center Band. She was an avid gardener and was known for her collection of rare flowers at both her North Branch and Largo, Fla., homes. She drove an egg delivery truck for the family business. During the early part of her marriage, she and her late husband worked for popular songwriter Harry Woods, who had a residence in Calicoon. She was physically challenged by a spinal problem for over 50 years but overcame her disability to remain a hands-on wife, mother and grandmother and an active member of her community."
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and John Klemm of Bogota, N.J.; four grandchildren, Gerald Mootz Jr. of Poughkeepsie, Susan Naughton and Jack Mootz, both of Callicoon Center, and April Dawn Shinske of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earle Poley of North Branch and John Poley of Narrowsburg; and a sister, Mildred Muir of Fishkill. She was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Mootz, and two grandchildren, Dennis and Denise Mootz.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Obernburg with the Rev. John Richardson, O.F.M., officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Obernburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, Obernburg, N.Y. 12767; The Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 203, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12601; or to the Callicoon Center Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Callicoon Center, N.Y. 12724.

Dorothy Kenney, 93
Ret. Domestic Wkr.

Dorothy Kenny of Narrowsburg, a retired domestic worker, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Margaret Mozee Kenney, she was born May 13, 1909, in Lousia, Va.
She is survived by a niece, Margaret Kenny of Elizabeth, N.J.; and a nephew, William Kenney of New Canton, Va.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Catherine Carr
Homemaker, 64

Catherine Carr, a homemaker and a 43-year area resident, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, in Goshen. She was 64 years of age.
The daughter of Denis and Mary Ryan Croke, she was born July 20, 1938, in Trenton, N.J.
Mrs. Carr was a member of St. Mary's Church in Montgomery.
She is survived by her husband, Everett "Jack" Carr, at home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and William Kilian of Montgomery, Catherine and Douglas McVicker of Mt. Hope, Peggy and Dan Farganis of Wallkill, and Sarah A. Carr, at home; four sons, John Carr, at home, Daniel Carr of Middletown, Everett Carr Jr. and his companion, Michelle Dandreno of Bloomingburg and Frank Carr and his wife, Sarah Maye, of Rock Tavern; several grandchildren including, Billy and Jessica Kilian of Montgomery, Melissa and Douglas McVicker of Mt. Hope, Ryan and Brett Farganis of Wallkill, Amanda and Ashley Carr of Circleville, Brandon Carr of Bloomingburg and Patrick Carr of Rock Tavern; a sister, Helen Smalley of Louisville, Kty.; two brothers, Denis Croke of Trenton, N.J., and John Croke of Trenton, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jacklyn Carr, a son, Denis Carr, three sisters and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 89 Union St., Montgomery, with Fr. Joseph D. Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery.

Lillian Benmosche
Ret. Motel Owner, 91

Lillian Benmosche of Monticello, once the owner and operator of the Patio Motel, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 91 years of age.
The daughter of the late Isidore and Fanny Cohen, she was born February 18, 1911, in New York City. A widow, Mrs. Benmosche was one of eight children.
Mrs. Benmosche built a life and a family of her own in the Monticello area, running the motel after the death of her husband in 1954.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a warm and loving mother and a kind soul to all who knew her. Every community she touched felt her presence as she took long walks each day and collected 'momentos' from her journeys. Her light in the world has been a blessing to all of her family and we will always remember her."
She is survived by four children, Judith, Robert, Jayne and Michael; a brother, Julius; two sisters, Frieda and Eleanor; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lillian Benmosche Recovery Center, 196 Broadway, Monticello, N.Y. 12701.

Evelyn Faughnan
Homemaker, 82

Evelyn Grace Faughnan of Wurtsboro and Miami, Fla., a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at her home in Miami. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Berthold and Elizabeth Margaret Sammler Raschke, she was born June 27, 1920, in New York City. She was the widow of Gerald John Faughnan who died April 17, 1995.
Mrs. Faughnan was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wurtsboro.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and John LaBelle of Miami, Fla., and Eileen and Rick Stilwagen of Deltaville, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Gladys Raschke of California; three grandchildren, Richard, Elizabeth and Nicole; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha, Kiera, Christian, Damien, TJ and Sissy; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, with the Rev. Peter Madori officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Jennie E. Decker, 84
Ret. Sr. Acct. Clerk

Jennie Elizabeth Decker of Willowemoc, a longtime bookkeeper for Tom Quick Lumber Mill in Livingston Manor and a retired Senior Account Clerk for Sullivan County Department of Social Services and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late William Henry and Delilah Catherine Weist Decker, she was born March 14, 1918, in Willowemoc.
Miss Decker was a member and treasurer of the Willowemoc Baptist Church.
In a family statement, it was said, "Jennie touched everyone who knew her and she will be eternally loved and missed by all."
She is survived by a nephew, Robert Decker of Willowemoc; five nieces, Bonnie Hein of Poquag, Nancy Tuccello of Carthage, Flora Bivens of Liberty, Violet Knight and Betty Knight, both of Mt. Vision; and several grand-, great-grand and great-great-grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters, Oswald William Decker, Ernest Richard Decker, Alon Monroe Decker, Jay Knight, Burr Knight, Wanda Burda Fagan and Edith Delilah Knight Chapman.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Caskey officiating.
Burial will be made in the Claryville Cemetery in Claryville.

Julie B. Solomon
Teacher, 45

Julie B. Solomon died suddenly on September 29, 2004. She was born in 1959.
She formerly resided in Middletown, Monroe, Goshen, Woodstock, the states of Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, California and in Israel.
She had a steadfast love for Judaism, animals, nature and Middle Eastern cuisine.
She was a teacher, a sought out confidant, and a warm soul.
She is survived by her mother, Abigail; two cherished children, Josh and Ariella; her companion John Walsh; and siblings, Debbie, Karen, Laurie, Abby, Shalom, Michael and Laurie.
Burial will be in Israel. A memorial service was conducted at the Emerald Green Club House in Rock Hill.
