Josephine Sciarra of Shohola, Pa., a retired clerk for Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust, Manhattan died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Angelo and Lena Pezzula Vaccarella, she was born February 8, 1922 in Manhattan.
A family statement reads, Josephine was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She made a lot of new friends at Twin Cedars, she kept everyone laughing at her new home. She had such a positive attitude, s he gave inspiration to all. She will be greeted by her loving husband who she missed for so many years.
She leaves behind a daughter, Joanne Wasserman and her husband, Robert of Milanville, Pa.; and her grandson, Justin Scarimbolo and his fiance, Radhika Bapat.
She is predeceased by her husband, Matt Sciarra; her sister, Fanny and three brothers, John, Larry and Joseph.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Morris “Moishe” Gold

Morris "Moishe" Gold, a lifetime resident of South Fallsburg, and part time resident of the Blue Horizon Diner, died Friday, June 8, at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87.
The son of Izzie and Gertie Gold, Morris was born March 17, 1920 in South Fallsburg, where he became one of the truly legendary characters in the history of the village. Thanks to his outgoing personality and generous spirit, "Moishe" made friends in every corner of New York State, and from all walks of life. Stories of his memorable escapades will continue to bring smiles to everyone who knew him.
Morris began his working career in the family business, Fallsburg Gas Company. In the 1950's he founded Sullivan Sprinkler Company, and later became President of Sullivan Fire Protection Company in South Fallsburg. Among Morris' many community activities, he was most proud of serving as President of the Fallsburg Fire Department for over fifty years. In 2001, he was named the first President Emeritus of the Department. Morris was also a member of the Masons, the Fallsburg Lions Club, the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, the Sidney Goldstein B'nai B'rith Lodge, an Honorary Member of the Fallsburg Police Department, and a past Board Member of the Sullivan County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also honored as Man of the Year by the Italian-American League of Sullivan County.
He is survived by his wife, June; brothers, Harold and Raymond Gold, and sister-in-law, Judy Gold; his children, Herbie Gold and his wife, Carolyn, Ellen Bresky and her husband, Murray, Ira Gold and his wife, Ruby, Suzie Gold and her companion, Robert Schmitz, Nicole Germann and her husband, Erik, and Jimmy Housman and his wife, Yvonne; grandchildren, Lisa Sachs, Stacey Koplik, Debbie Fein, Ian, Gillian, Adam and Ilana Gold, Tyler Germann and Brianna and Devin Housman; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Morris was predeceased by his wife, Martha.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 10, in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Monticello. Rabbi Yakov Barros presided. Firematic Services preceded the funeral.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Ira and Ruby Gold at 24 Highland Drive in South Fallsburg from Sunday through Tuesday.
Contributions in Morris' memory may be made to the Fallsburg Fire Department or the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association.

Anna J. Doxsey
Saleswoman, 80
Anna J. Doxsey of Newburgh entered into rest on July 7, 2007 at Elant at Newburgh. She was 80.
The daughter of Stanislous and Tillie Sudowski, she was born September 12, 1926 in Poughkeepsie.
Anna was a saleswoman for Economy Cleaners.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Doxsey of Newburgh; sons, Greg Doxsey and his wife, Debbie of the Town of Newburgh, David Doxsey of Woodridge, and Stephen Doxsey and his wife, Cynthia of Sterling, Mass.; one sister, Bernice Kampher of Rosendale; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Road (Route 32), Newburgh.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 14 at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Route 52, Newburgh. Monsignor John Budwick will officiate.
Cremation will follow in Cedar Hill Crematory.

Stephen Rodney King
Retired Cook, 77
Stephen Rodney King of Middletown, a retired cook for Middletown Psychiatric Center, the Mid Hudson Correctional Facility and the Arden Hill Life Care Center, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 77.
The son of the late Frederick W. and Grettelle Miller King, he was born May 27, 1930 in Middletown.
Mr. King was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara King, at home; his children, Doreen King of Monticello, Ricky King, Stephen King, Duane King, all of Middletown, Lisa Batista of Monticello, Margaret Stewart of Yankee Lake, Doris Melendez of North Carolina, and Byron King of Middletown; his stepchildren, Ranaye Corley of Walden, Tonyia Gibbs of Middletown, and Sonnymarie Davoren of Walden; his sister, Lorelei Thomas of Middletown; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 West Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Saverio “Sam” Nastro

Sam Nastro of Mongaup Valley, a retired construction worker from the father and son company of Nastro Construction and a lifelong area resident, died on Thursday, July 05, 2007. He was 68.
Sam was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea. He was born on June 9, 1939 in Brooklyn, the son of the late Samuel and Rose Manzi Nastro.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon King Nastro, at home; his two children, Michael Nastro and his wife, April of Mongaup Valley and Diane Lasher and her husband, Gary of Monticello; his six grandchildren, Michael, Vincent, Mary Elizabeth and Christina Nastro and Kathleen and Joseph Lasher.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 7 in St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Broadway, Monticello.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth “Betty” Orlando of Port Jervis, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Warrenton Overlook Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warrenton, Va. She was 78.
The daughter of the late Irving J. and Gertrude Sparling Hughson, she was born July 12, 1928 in the Town of Greenville. She was the widow of Antonio “Bub” Orlando.
Betty was a retired sewing machine operator for Mulhame Vestment Co. in Milford, Pa. She was a member of the Milford Bible Church in Milford, Pa., and attended the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis. She was a member of the Port Jervis Seniors; Port Jervis AARP, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241 in Port Jervis.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by six brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 East Main St., Port Jervis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Neal Windermute officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.

Scott Wayne Bartol of Canyon Country, Calif., a chef for the Porter Valley Country Club in California, died unexpectedly Monday, June 18, 2007 at his home. He was 54.
The son of June Denton Bartol and the late Willard Bartol, he was born May 20, 1953 in Monticello.
A 1971 graduate of Monticello High School, Scott was the grandson of the late Howard Denton, a sergeant with the Monticello Police Department.
Survivors include his mother, June Bartol of Monticello; his companion of 32 years, Arlene Brennan, at home; a stepson, Michael Brennan of California; a niece, Colleen Rios and her husband, Frank, of Monticello; a nephew, Glenn Bartol of Lynbrook; cousins Terry Tauber of Chicago, Ill.; Candy Malaspina of South Amboy, NJ; and Kris Willis of Escondido, Calif.
He was predeceased by a brother, Craig Bartol.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. John St., Monticello with the Rev. Ninon Hutchinson officiating.
Interment of the cremains will follow in the St. John St. Cemetery in Monticello.

Atruz Quintanilla of Middletown, entered into rest on Thursday, July 5, 2007 unexpectedly at home. She was only four months of age.
Atruz was born in Middletown to Heather Drake and Juan Quintanilla on February 23, 2007.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving sister, Yasmine Suqui, at home; maternal grandmother, Marie Drake of Bloomingburg; paternal grandmother, Frances Salinas of Monticello; paternal grandfather, Juan Quintanilla Sr. of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Atruz was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Mark Drake.
Funeral services will be private.

Fred Reiman
Retired Salesman, 83
Fred Reiman, a longtime resident of Monticello and a former salesman for Erickson Oldsmobile, Inc. in Monsey, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 83.
The son of the late Frank and Ethel Riker Reiman, Fred was born in New Windsor on June 27, 1924.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in WWII as a paratrooper. Fred was an avid woodcutter in his spare time.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Barbara Cannata Reiman, at home; his son, Richard Reiman of Lantana, Fla.; his daughter, Jill Storr and her husband, Randy of Independence, Mo.; his sisters, Dolores Asaro of Central Nyack, and Bea Lentz, of Spring Hill, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Norma Reiman of Central Nyack; three grandchildren, Melissa, Jeremy, and Adam; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Aiden; as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank Reiman.
A memorial service was held at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, Monticello Sunday, July 8.
