Randall Manfredo
First VP, 44

Randall Robert Manfredo of Milford, Pa., a first vice president for Salomon Smith Barney in Goshen and an 18-year area resident, died Friday, November 3, 2000, at his home. He was 44 years of age.
The son of the late Alfred and Rose Lelli Manfredo, he was born June 2, 1956, in New York City.
Mr. Manfredo was a member, lector of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Milford, Pa., and was a member of the Parish Council and chairman of the Finance Council. A graduate of William Paterson College in Paterson, N.J., he was a member of the Milford Square Enhancement Committee, Milford Boro Architectural Review Board, Knights of Columbus Council No. 471 in Port Jervis, a founder of the Pocono Mountains Corvette Club and a former constable in Westfall Township.
In a family statement, it was said, "Randall was a dedicated, loving husband who treated his wife as a princess. He had a generous, outgoing personality and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He was very active in his church and community and will be missed by all."
Mr. Manfredo is survived by his wife, Halyna Klymko Manfredo, at home; his mother-in-law, Anna Klymko of Glen Spey; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alexander and Halla Klymko, a nephew, Austap Klymko, and a niece, Oksana Klymko, all of Yonkers; a goddaughter, Stephanie Doyle; a godson and cousin, Robert Villante, and cousins, Barbara and Salvatore Villante, Stephen and Marie Villante, Liam Villante, Karen Villante, Janet and Oded Ben-Ami, Michael Ben-Ami and several other cousins.
A Mass of the Resurrection was offered Monday at St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Milford, Pa., with the Rev. Gerald Mullaly officiating.
Cremation was made at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905 or the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Anna T. Norden
Ret. Educator, 81

February 11, 2000 -- Anna T. Norden of Callicoon and Surfside, Fla., a retired businesswoman and an educator, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000, in Callicoon. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Anna Coyle Quirk, she was born October 27, 1918, in Milford, Conn. She was the widow of Arthur Norden.
A graduate of Becker College in Worcester, Mass., she received her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from New York University. During World War II, Mrs. Norden served with the American Red Cross in India. She then became a stewardess for Pan American Airlines on one of the first transatlantic flights. She and her husband co-founded Seaboard & Western Airlines in New York City. Mrs. Norden then became a theatrical manager for her children. She was a teacher at Miami-Dade Junior College, Sullivan County Community College and Narrowsburg Central School.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Congelosi of Monticello, Anna Dolan of Orange, Conn., Helen Mullally of Jeffersonville and Margaret Gadzak of Westfield, N.J.; three sons, Arthur Norden and Thomas Norden, both of Callicoon, and Andrew Norden of Manlius; a sister, Helen Golden of Clearwater, Fla.; three brothers, William Quirk of Rumson, N.J., John Quirk of Kenoza Lake, and Raymond Quirk of Orangburg; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, William Norden, and a sister, Mary Cook.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. George's Church, Jeffersonville, with Father Robert Nee officiating.
Burial will be made in the Bauernfeind Cemetery in the Beechwoods, Callicoon.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. George's Church, Jeffersonville, N.Y. 12748.

Leslie Havas, 79
Ret. from Trust Co.

Leslie Havas of Mongaup Valley, a retired employee of J.P. Morgan Guarantee Trust Co. in New York City and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, February 6, 2000, at his home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Geza and Irene Spitzer Havas, he was born November 26, 1920, in Sarkad, Hungary. He was the widower of Doris Kaufmann Havas.
He was a part-time Language Professor for C.W. Post College in Long Island.
In a family statement, it was said, "It is with deep regret that we part with our wonderful dad, although we know how long he had had no quality of life. He can now join his only true love in Heaven, his beloved wife of 50 years, Doris."
Mr. Havas is survived by a son, Tim Havas and a daughter, June Lombardi and her husband, Kent, all of Mongaup Valley; two grandchildren, Marina and Anthony; and a cousin, Eva Szogi of Flushing. He was predeceased by a grandson, Reid.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Reformed Church in White Lake.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Smallwood/Mongaup Valley Fire Department, P.O. Box 28, Smallwood, N.Y. 12778, or to the Bethel Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 31, White Lake, N.Y. 12786.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Rosa M. Weber, 93
Ret. Machine Operator

Rosa M. Weber of Port Jervis, a retired sewing machine operator for Barbara Quilting in Port Jervis and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, in Goshen. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Catherine Moore Weber, she was born April 27, 1906, in Yulan.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Virginia Donahue of Port Jervis.
Funeral services were private.
Burial will be made in the Eldred Cemetery in Eldred.

Minnie Verdi
Homemaker

Minnie Verdi of Monticello, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Monday, February 7, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris.
The daughter of the late David and Anna Kohn Bloom, she was born in Montreal, Canada. She was the widow of Vincent James "Jimmy" Verdi.
Mrs. Verdi was a member of the Landfield Avenue Synagogue in Monticello.
She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Kabat and her husband, Richard, of Johnson City; a son, Jack Verdi and his wife, Pam, of Michigan; a sister, Lillian Cavallaro of Staten Island; eight grandchildren, Vincent, John, Nicole and David Kabat and Vincent, Jamie, Stacie and Michael Verdi; a great-grandson, Jacob Kabat; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating.
Burial was made in the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello.

Christine G. Carmody
Ret. Bookkeeper, 85

Christine G. Carmody of Middletown, a retired bookkeeper for Orange & Rockland Utilities in Middletown, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000, at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late Albert A. and Grace O'Reilly Gessner, she was born May 29, 1914, in Morgantown, Va. She was the widow of Charles V. Carmody.
Mrs. Carmody was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Elaine Wilbur and her husband, John, of Middletown; her grandchildren, Chuck and Lori Hendrickson of Roscoe, and Kathy and Kevin Davis, Lisa and Anthony Sirna, George "Bud" Hendrickson and Keith Wilbur, all of Middletown; and a brother, Bob Gessner of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
Interment will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.

Charlotte Hill
Foster Caregiver, 70

Charlotte Hill of Grahamsville, a longtime foster home caregiver and lifetime area resident, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at her home. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Benjamin V. and Dorothy Brown Hill, she was born May 3, 1929, in Hasbrouck.
Mrs. Hill was a member of the Woodbourne Reformed Church and a former member of the Tri-Valley Lions.
In a family statement it was said, "Her greatest joy was taking care of children. She enjoyed being with them and loving them."
She is survived by a brother, Donald Hill of Grahamsville; a sister, June Schmitz of Hasbrouck; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and many cousins.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Interment will be made in the Hurleyville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grahamsville First Aid Squad, Grahamsville, N.Y. 12740.

Julius A. Brunn
Ret. Caretaker, 76

Julius A. Brunn of Swan Lake, a retired caretaker and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, February 3, 2000, at his home. He was 76 years of age.
The son of the late Julius H. and Sophie Weik Brunn, he was born April 13, 1923, in Astoria.
He is survived by a brother, Paul Brunn, of Smithtown, L.I.; and a nephew.
Graveside services and burial were held Wednesday at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Thomas Devaney
Tavern Owner, 77

Thomas Devaney of White Sulphur Springs, the owner of Devaney's Tavern and Carwash in White Sulphur Springs and a more than 60-year area resident, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000, at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late Patrick and Catherine Higgins Devaney, he was born March 13, 1922, in New York City.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Devaney was a member of St. Peter's Church in Liberty.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Devaney was predeceased by two brothers, Victor J. Higgins and Joseph P. Devaney.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's Church, 264 N. Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
