Catherine Norwood
Homemaker, 59

Catherine Knapp Norwood of Cochecton died after a long struggle with cancer. Cathy went home to join her son, mom and sister. She has gone on ahead and will be waiting for her loving husband Thomas Norwood to join her. She was 59.
Catherine was born in Loomis on May 1, 1947, the daughter of the late Grace Hewlett and Ralph Knapp.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Olsen of Swan Lake, and Catherine Conley and her husband, Daniel of Loris, S.C.; three sisters, Lori Knapp of Middletown, Thelma “Toby” Barton of Cochecton, and Penny Heinle and her husband, Doug, of Cochecton Center; a sister-in-law, Patricia Yaple of Livingston Manor; grandchildren, Gary Buley Jr. and longtime girlfriend Milissa, Tracy Buley and fiancee Rodney Lindal of Conway, S.C., Briana Conley of Loris, S.C., John and Tabitha Grimm of Pennsylvania, Michael and Amanda Grimm, and Shaun Grimm of Liberty; six great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins. Catherine was predeceased by her mother, father, infant son, Royal James Porter and sister Patty McAbier.
She will be lovingly missed by her entire family.
A memorial service was held Thursday at Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Liberty.
Cremation was made at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Rafael Morales
ARC Participant, 65

Rafael Antonio Santiago Morales of Monticello died Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 65.
The son of Antonio and Susana Morales, he was born February 8, 1941 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico.
He was a program participant of Sullivan ARC since December 1996. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He also enjoyed going to NYC each year to celebrate his heritage at the Puerto Rican Day parade. He especially enjoyed going on trips with his peers.
Survivors include his brother, Jose L. Morales of Richmond Hills, Ga. and his step brother, Diego Villanueva and his wife, Grace of Wurtsboro; six nephews and nieces and a dear friend, Edwardo and his extended family and friends at Sullivan ARC.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 5 at St. Peter’s Church in Monticello.
Interment followed in St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Woodbourne.

Leona M. Teller
Ret. Nurse, 97

Leona M. Teller, formerly of Middletown, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 1, 2006, while in residence at Columbia Cottage Assisted Living in Wyomissing, Pa. She was 97.
The daughter of Benjamin and Bertha B. Hoyt, she was born April 8, 1909 in Liberty.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Middletown, and an active member of Mulberry House Senior Center, Middletown for many years.
She retired in 1971 from Horton Memorial Hospital following many years of nursing service performed both at Horton Memorial Hospital and at Middletown State Hospital.
Leona is survived by her sister, Mary Katherine Scott of West Frankfort, Ill.; four daughters, Rosalind Culver, Lois Decker, Jeannette Brennan, and Nancy Sanders; one son, Ronald Teller; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Teller and two sons, Robert and Gary Teller.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 5 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Middletown.
Interment will be at a later date in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Arrangements are under the guidance of Morse Funeral Home, Middletown.

Brian James Foss
Supervisor, 39

Brian James Foss of Monticello, passed away October 3, 2006 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision on September 7, 2006. He was 39.
The son of Darrel Foss and Linda Smith, he was born November 22, 1966 in Monticello.
A devoted husband and father, Brian was employed by Hydro Aluminum in Ellenville as a supervisor. He volunteered and coached for the local AYSO Soccer League and the Monticello T-ball League, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his family. He was also a good friend, a loving son and brother whose life revolved around his family. His sons were the light of his life and there was nothing he loved more than teaching them crafts, gardening and life's lessons.
He is survived by his wife, Ann-Marie Porter Foss; two sons, Kyle Darren Foss and Connor James Foss, all at home; his father, Darrel Foss and his wife, Sharon, of Hernando Beach, Fla.; his mother, Linda Smith and her companion, Guy Baker, of Liberty; a brother, Brendan Pavese and his wife, Heidi, of Woodbourne; and a sister, Shanna Drwiega and her husband, Jack, of Tampa, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Carola McNutt of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Laura Foss of Monticello; paternal grandparents, Gil and Gerry Foss of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; nieces and nephews: Dustin, Deara, Taylor and Brendan Jr.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, Darren Foss; his father-in-law, James McNutt; and his maternal grandparents, Walt and Claire Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 445 Broadway in Monticello. The Rev. Gene Smith will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
In honor of his two children, memorial contributions may be made to the Homestead School Building Fund, 428 Hollow Road, Glen Spey, NY 12737.

George R. Stevens
Ret. Manager, 80

George R. Stevens, a 15-year resident of Monticello, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 80.
He was born June 13, 1926 in Greenwich, Conn. to the late Leo W. and Emma Telifaro Stevens. He was the widower of Carmela Morgan Stevens who died August 1990.
He was a retired manager for Grand Union Distribution Center in Bedford and owned George R. Stevens Lawn Maintenance Co., Katonah.
He was a WWII Army veteran serving from 1944-1946 with the US 3rd Infantry Regiment Special Services in Berlin, Germany. He was a member of the Bedford Fire Dept., the American Legion, and the VFW in Katonah.
He is survived by three sons, Richard W. Stevens of Monticello, William G. Stevens and wife, Estella of California City, Calif. and Paul T. Stevens of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Edward Stevens of Riverside, R.I.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Stevens Barrows; a sister, Ruth Stephens; and a brother, William Stevens.
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be private.
Cremation was made at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Council of the Skilled Nursing Unit, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, New York 12742.
Arrangements were by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes, Monticello.

Wilma Schmidt, 96
Wilma Schmidt of Roscoe, a homemaker, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at her home. She was 96.
She was born April 10, 1910 in Estonia.
Survivors include her daughter, Zaiga Puspurs and her husband Gunaris of Albany; and a grandson, John Puspurs also of Albany. She was predeceased by her husbands and a daughter.
Memorial services will be held at1 p.m. Saturday, October 7 in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe. The Rev. Audrey Pedersen will officiate.

Ronald M. Till
Utilities Employee, 42

Ronald M. Till of Bloomingburg, died Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his home. He was 42 years old.
The son of Robert Till and Jeannine Profetto Till, Ronald was born October 10, 1963 in the Bronx. He was married to Elvira M. Manuntag Till. He was a 38-year area resident.
He was an employee of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Spring Valley, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include wife, Elvira M. Till; and daughter, Erica Denise Till at home; his parents, Robert and Jeannine Till of Highland Mills; his brother, John E. Till of Cornwall; a sister, Rosemarie L. Hawthorne of Prospect, Conn.; his paternal grandmother, Anna E. Till of Newburgh; nieces and nephews, Joseph, Meghan and Lindsay Hawthorne, Devon, Alexis and Stephanie Till.
A Funeral Mass was held Thursday in St. Patrick’s Church, Highland Mills. The Rev. Gerard P. Travers officiated.
Burial was made in Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills.
Funeral arrangements are by Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, Highland Mills.

For Eleanor M. Weiss

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville for Eleanor "Ebbie" M. Weiss who died in Arizona as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A luncheon will follow in the church dining room.

Warren Ruppert

Word has been received of the death of Warren Ruppert, a former resident of Jeffersonville and more recently of Colorado, on Tuesday, December 30, 2003.

Lillian Clark
Homemaker, 90

Lillian Clark of Neversink, a homemaker and a lifelong Sullivan County resident, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Wilmer and Grace King, she was born May 7, 1913, in Monticello. She was the widow of Clayton Clark who died in 1996.
Mrs. Clark is survived by a devoted niece and her husband, Barbara and William Yager of Neversink; a grand-nephew, Robert Yager and his wife, Karen, of Centereach; and a grand-niece, Lisa Yager of Boston, Mass.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.
