Retired Dairy Farmer
Foppe "Frank" Zylstra, a six-month resident of Byram Township, N.J., a retired dairy farmer and former resident of Cochecton, died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at his home.
The son of the late Sierd and Ytje Wouda Zylstra, he was born in Beetgum, Holland. He was the widower of Ynskje Zylstra who died in 1965.
Mr. Zylstra came to the United States in 1955 and settled in to farming in Sussex County, N.J., before moving to Cochecton in 1967.
He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Agway in Liberty.
Mr. Zylstra is survived by his wife, Tina Zylstra, at home; two daughters, Frances Kuipers of Lafayette, N.J., and Edith Ervey of Byram Township, N.J.; three sons, James Zylstra of Frankford Township, N.J., Donald Zylstra of New York Mills, Minn., and John Zylstra of Johnson; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Aukje Joustra and Get VanDyk, and five brothers, Jan, Piet, Meile, Sake and Rypke Zylstra.
Services were held Monday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home in Newton, N.J.
Interment was made in the North Hardyston Cemetery in New Jersey.

Helen K. Gregory
Ret. Caregiver, 94
Helen Keator Gregory of Liberty, a retired caregiver and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Mary Valko Gitch, she was born December 19, 1909, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Earl Keator and Adolph Gregory.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Robert Savage of Ferndale; a son, Clyde Keator and his companion, Donna Burr, of Kenoza Lake; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, all of whom live out of the area; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Kenneth Keator and Benson Keator; a daughter, Lillian Keator Callihan; two grandchildren, Patricia Callihan and Steven Callihan; and several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services and burial were held Saturday at the Liberty Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.
Bernard Jaffe
Musician, 58
Bernard Daniel Jaffe of Tamworth, Ontario, Canada, a musician and a former resident of Glen Wild, died at his home on January 2, 2004, after a short illness. He was 58 years of age.
The son of Sadie Bakst Jaffe and the late Abe Jaffe, he moved to Canada in 1967.
A musician, music teacher and recording studio operator, he played the fiddle with various bands in Eastern Ontario for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Faun Bank, at home; three sons, Lucas, Leigh and Max Bank-Jaffe, all of Tamworth, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Naomi Jaffe of Troy; his mother of Glen Wild; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Services and burial were made in Tamworth, Ontario, Canada, on January 5.
Gerhard P. Graf
Truck Driver, 74
Gerhard P. "Jerry" Graf of Wurtsboro, a truck driver for Tubelight in Moonachie, N.J. died Friday, January 9, 2004, at the Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, N.J. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late Anna and Gustave Graf, he was born February 16, 1929, in Austria.
Mr. Graf was a member of the Mamakating Senior Citizens and was active at the Rock Hill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta "Lori" Graf, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ralph Lane of Rock Hill; two brothers, his twin, Alfred and his wife, Gisela Graf, of Saddle Brook, N.J, and Otto and his wife, Hanni Graf, in Germany; two sisters, Charlotte Loria of Lodi, N.J., and Lucy Ammel and her husband, James of Otto, Michigan; four grandchildren, Thomas, Jonathan and Daniel Lane and Jillian Dernbach; and many nieces, nephews, his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Helena Lindner, and triplet grandsons, Andrew, Joshua and Nicholas Lane.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday at the Rock Hill United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to visit from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the church.
Cremation was private.

Arthur Koberlein Sr.
Retired Farmer, 83
Arthur R. Koberlein Sr. of Beach Lake, Pa., a retired farmer and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, January 12, 2004, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 83 years of age.
The son of the late Edward and Lena Rutledge Koberlein, he was born May 20, 1920, in Cochecton Center. He was the widower of Beatrice Koberlein who died May 19, 2003.
Mr. Koberlein was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended the Beach Lake United Methodist Church.
He is survived by five children and their spouses, Margaret and Charles Cowger of Lake Ariel, Pa., Arthur R. Jr. and Bonnie Koberlein of Beach Lake, Pa., Harold and Bernadette Koberlein of Telford, Pa., David and Patrice Koberlein of Orlando, Fla., and Karen and Douglas Miller of Beach Lake, Pa; a sister, Elsie Lechner of Narrowsburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Grace and Margaret, and four brothers, Sam, Ernest, Ivan and Louis.
Services were held Thursday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Gordon Weightman officiating.
Interment was made in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Mildred Pearce, 94
Ret. Co-Owner of Farm
Mildred Gawenus Pearce of Narrowsburg, the co-owner of Silver Lake Farms for 13 years and an area resident since 1945, died Monday, January 12, 2004, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dorman, she was born January 9, 1910, in Queens. She was the widow of Karl Gawenus who died in 1956 and of Harold Pearce who died in 1989.
Mrs. Pearce was a member of St. Tammany Chapter No. 492, Order of the Eastern Star, in Callicoon.
She is survived by two children, Richard Gawenus and his wife, Ann, of Horseheads, and Wanda Winglovitz and her fiance, Joseph Borowski of Homossasa, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Antolin P. Garcia
Homemaker, 93
Antolin Pagan Garcia of South Fallsburg, a homemaker, died Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Miguel and Gumersinda Vasquez Garcia, she was born October 19, 1910, in Puerto Rico. She was the widow of Pedro Pagan.
Mrs. Pagan is survived by four sons, Pedro Pagan of South Fallsburg and Antonio Pagan, Perfecto Pagan and Modesto Pagan, all of Puerto Rico; a daughter, Delia Pagan of Pennsylvania; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Church of St. Peter, 10 Liberty St., Monticello with Father Ginel officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Minnie M. Frey
Homemaker, 84
Minnie Marie Rheinheimer Frey of Verona, Va., a homemaker and a former longtime resident of Youngsville, died Sunday, January 11, 2004, at the Augusta Medical Center. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Henry and Alice Moore Rheinheimer, she was born September 21, 1919, in Shandelee. She was the widow of Adolph J. Frey.
She was a member of the Community Reformed Church of Youngsville and the Ladies Aid of the church.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mrs. Frey was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Carol Frey of Youngsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Brad Baker of Trinity, Fla., and Joyce and Floyd Emery of Verona, Va.; six grandchildren, Tracy Anderson, Brandi Baker, Michelle Brockner, Kris Simpson, Stephanie Nolf and Ashley Cooke; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mabel Millis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Schleiermacher, three brothers, Henry, Paul and Fred Rheinheimer, and four half-brothers, Chris Rheinheimer and Ivan, Burton and George Millis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Youngsville.
