Ret. Store Clerk, 74
Doris M. Turner of Glen Spey, a retired clerk for the Great American Food Store in Port Jervis and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 6, 2004, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 74 years of age.
The daughter of the late LeRoy and Florence Lester Turner, she was born July 28, 1929, in Port Jervis.
Miss Turner was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis, a member of AARP and a member of The Daughters of America.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mildred Turner of Port Jervis; five nieces, Charlotte Carr of Bloomingburg, Alice Horton of Middletown, Janey Beck of York, Pa., Carolyn Owen of Port Jervis and Susan Christiano of Owego; five nephews, Steven Turner of Port Jervis, Wilson Turner of Ocala, Fla., Edwin Anderson and his wife, Norma, of Glen Spey, Ronald Turner of Allentown, Pa., and David Turner of Ft. Wayne, Ind. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Services were held Monday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Rev. Emil Winkelspecht officiating.
Burial was made in the Pine Bush Cemetery in Kerhonkson.
James ‘Jim’ Dauch
Ret. Carpenter, 66
James Edward "Jim" Dauch of Millsboro, Del., a retired carpenter and a former Roscoe resident, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at his home. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late George and Viola Baker Dauch, he was born May 31, 1937, in Roscoe.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Dauch was a member of American Legion Post #28 in Oak Orchard, Del. He was a graduate of Roscoe Central School.
He is survived by his wife, Antonia J.W. Dauch, at home; two daughters, Jennifer Book of Strasburg, Pa., and Christine Dauch-Webber of Coshocton, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Nancy Dauch of Roscoe; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Melson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del.
Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Local arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.
Ruth E. Dicks
Ret. Motel Clerk, 79
Ruth E. Hagenow Dicks of Mongaup Valley, a 36-year area resident and motel clerk for the Heritage Inn in Monticello for over 20 years, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, after a short illness. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Otto and Lisabeth Hagenow, she was born January 25, 1925, in Hamburg, Germany. She was the widow of Clifford Dicks who died June 1, 1994.
Coming to the United States as a young girl with her family, she was a graduate of the former Damascus (Pa.) High School, at the age of 16.
She moved to Brooklyn and worked in electronics for the Bulova Watch Co. and Markite Electronics.
In a family statement, it was said, "Ruth enjoyed reading, which was her favorite hobby and her one great pleasure. She was an animal lover who spoiled her pets. She was independent and lived life to the fullest – working and driving up to the time of her illness."
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William C. and Terri Wood of Lawton, Okla., and Bruce C. and Darla Wood of Mongaup Valley; three grandchildren, Brian Wood of Lawton, Okla., Jessica Pruden of Ft. Hood, Tex., and David Bollinger and his wife, Tiana, of Ft. Stewart, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Caleb Wood, Ethaniel Pruden, Payton Bollinger and Shasta Bollinger; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, John and Rose Dicks of White Lake, Michael "Russell" and Lorraine Dicks of Lititz, Pa., and Nelson Dicks of New Hampshire; two sisters-in-law, Violet Yates of Arizona and Eileen Connelly and her husband, John, of Wyoming; countless nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Scott McBride of Liberty and Zygmunt "Ziggy" Gayda of South Amboy, N.J., who she loved like sons, Peggy Hulse of Monticello and Bill Baer. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl H. Hagenow, and a sister, Alice Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Frieda Nordenhold
Homemaker, 92
Frieda Nordenhold of Beach Lake, Pa., a homemaker and a 60-year area resident, died Saturday, February 7, 2004, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank, she was born August 13, 1911, in Uthlede, Germany. She was the widow of John M. Nordenhold who died in 1988.
Mrs. Nordenhold was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg and the Lutheran Church Women.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a terrific homemaker who especially enjoyed baking and gardening. She always took great pride in her flowers."
She is survived by two sons, Fred Nordenhold of Beach Lake, Pa., and Ralph Nordenhold of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Anna Batjen of Germany; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Alejandro Camacho

Alejandro Camacho of Glen Spey, a retired hospital orderly and a former resident of the Bronx, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 77 years of age.
He was born February 28, 1926, in Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Valazquez Camacho of Glen Spey; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Nicole Camacho of Glen Spey; two daughters, Lucy of Buffalo and Lydia of Puerto Rico; and several brothers, sisters and grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 East Main St., Port Jervis.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 2158 Watson Ave., Bronx, with the Rev. James Flanagan officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
James H. Martin
Ret. Well Driller, 79
James Howard Martin of Bloomingburg, a retired master well driller in Sullivan and Orange counties and in New Jersey, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at his home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late George Howard Sr. and Helen Williams Martin, he was born September 21, 1924 in Sussex, N.J.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Anne T. O'Haire Martin, at home; a daughter, Pamela Martin of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, James Howard Jr and Sandra Martin of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two brothers, Lawrence Martin of the State of Florida and George Martin and his wife, Betty, of Sussex, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Morse Funeral Home in Middletown from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Bloomingburg Cemetery.

Gabrielle A. O'Connell of Monticello, a homemaker, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Patrick and Brigid Maguire Bates, she was born August 17, 1933, in Dublin, Ireland.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister."
Mrs. O'Connell is survived by a son, Joseph D. O'Connell of South Fallsburg; two daughters, Cate Bonanno and her husband, Paul, of South Plainfield, N.J., and Bernadette O'Connell of Liberty; two brothers, Liam and Damien, both of Dublin, Ireland; three sisters, Maureen of Woodside and Bernadette and Collette, both of Dublin, Ireland; a granddaughter, Jillian O'Connell of Sunnyside; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Cyril O'Connell, and two brothers, Patrick and Cyril.
Services were held Sunday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Barbara T. Graney
Ret. Real Est. Agt., 80
Barbara T. Graney of Modena, who with her late husband Martin "Cookie" Graney had a harness racing stable and trained many winning horses, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at her home. She was 80 years of age.
She was born August 5, 1923, in Afton.
Mrs. Graney became a real estate agent in 1978 and had a very successful career with Century 21 Country Bumpkin. She worked until May of last year. A graduate of Afton High School, she was the first Dairy Queen of Chenango County and was recognized two years ago at the 60th anniversary celebration.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martina R. and Robert Sprauer of Modena; three grandchildren, Danielle, Jade and Nicholas, all of Modena; a sister, Ruth Burton of Monticello; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Lia Tingley of Afton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Copeland Funeral Home in New Paltz.
Burial was made in the Modena Rural Cemetery.
