Debra S. Hogle
Homemaker, 46

Debra Sue Hogle of Monticello, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 6, 2004, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, after a brief illness. She was 46 years of age.
The daughter of Martin and Natalie Gettenberg Rosenbaum, she was born September 15, 1957, in Monticello. She was the widow of Christopher Hogle who died in 1990.
Mrs. Hogle is survived by her parents of Monticello; a daughter, Melissa Rose Hogle of Pine Bush; two sisters, Jessi-ann Rosenbaum and Michele Rosenbaum; a brother, Jeffrey Rosenbaum and his companion, Sabrina Rubin; a sister-in-law, D.J. Rosenbaum; two nieces, Heather and Carly Rosenbaum; a nephew, Tyler Rosenbaum; and her extended family, Natalie Riordan, Jim Cambareri, William, Dara and Darren (Ingie) Riordan.
Burial was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship fund established for her daughter, addressed to Melissa Hogle, c/o Marty Rosenbaum, 68 Lakewood Ave., Monticello, N.Y. 12701.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Florence Townsend
Homemaker, 78

Florence Townsend of Cato, a retired farmer and a homemaker, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at her home. She was 78 years of age.
The widow of Robert Townsend who died after 57 years of marriage, she was born in Kenoza Lake.
In 1953, they moved to Cato to raise their family and build a successful dairy farm.
Mrs. Townsend is survived by two brothers, Bill and Frank Fulton, both of Kenoza Lake; seven children, Bonnie, Bradley, Sidney, Robin Hills and Roxanne Miller, all of Cato, Dian Wade of New Jersey and C. Mark Townsend of Texas; and 18 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Cato Union Church.

Robert L. Boyer
Ret. Sheriff Deputy, 70

Robert L. Boyer of Ferndale, a retired sheriff's deputy and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 70 years of age.
The son of the late Lavern and Lottie May Gorton Boyer, he was born August 20, 1933, in Woodbourne. He was the widower of Irene Welch Bowers Boyer.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a former Town of Liberty Constable, a former member of the Liberty Fire Co. and had been a fire tower observer at the Roosa Gap Fire Tower from 1967 to 1970.
He is survived by a brother-in-law and his wife, Douglas and Ruth Bowers of White Sulphur Springs; a sister-in-law and her husband, Joyce and Burr Bowers of Roscoe; four step-daughters and their spouses, Anna Mae and Chuck Husson of Roscoe, Sandi and Al Grund of Ferndale, Brenda and Scott Smith of Livingston Manor, and Dawn and Jim Zweck of Durham, N. C.; seven step-sons and their spouses, Jim and Sherry Bowers of Roscoe, Jeff and Jamie Bowers of Livingston Manor, Ken and Carol Bowers and Bucky and Colleen Bowers, all of Roscoe, Bobby and Moira Bowers of New York City, David and Patti Bowers of Livingston Manor, and Chris Pomeroy of Ashland, N.C.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James O'Rourke officiating.
Burial will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mill St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.

Anita G. Borden
Retired LPN, 93

Anita G. Borden of Liberty, a lifelong area resident and a retired licensed practical nurse at the former Liberty Maimonides Hospital, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Mary Frances Bischoff Gettel, she was born July 28, 1910, in Lake Huntington. She was the widow of Olney Borden who died in 1983.
Mrs. Borden was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, St. Paul's Senior Citizens, and Revonah-Lincoln Chapter No. 443, Order of the Eastern Star, all in Liberty
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ardith and Fred Willi of Liberty; two grandchildren, Donna Stoddard and Karen Ishimoto and her husband, Randy; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Stoddard and Mckenzie Stoddard. She was predeceased by a grandson, Paul Willi.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, with the Rev. Richard Bierwas officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Presbyterian Church "General Fund," 81 S. Main St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.

Ann L. Griffin
Homemaker, 81

Ann Louise Griffin of Jeffersonville, a homemaker, a former employee of IBM and 40-year area resident, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Nathan and Georgia Hicks, she was born January 28, 1923, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Griffin was a communicant of St. George's R.C. Church in Jeffersonville and a former member of the Jeffersonville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Griffin and Gerald "Gerry" Griffin; two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Bernhardt and Carol Kaufmann and her husband, George; a sister, Georgia Krause and her husband, Ralph; and a granddaughter, Jessica Kistler.
Services were held Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Ignatius Vu officiating.
Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12601, or to the charity of one's choice.

Apolonia Mazurkiewicz
Retiree of Local 32B, 93

Apolonia "Pauline" Mazurkiewicz, an 11-year resident of Scotchtown, a former resident of Ozone Park, and a retired employee of Building Services Local 32B in New York City, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at her home. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Josefa Kowalski, she was born October 8, 1910, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Stanislaw Mazurkiewicz who died December 7, 1944.
In a family statement, it was said, "Pauline was the matriarch of the family who taught us family values and upheld Polish cultural tradition . . . Your family here loves you and will miss you dearly. God is ready for you now, and waiting with open arms as is your family in Heaven."
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Victoria Mazurkiewicz of Scotchtown; three granddaughters and their husbands, Josephine and Markham Pagan of Middletown, Christine and Timothy Werder of Walker Valley and Victoria and Charles Brush of Wurtsboro; three great-grandsons, Timothy Werder Jr., Shane Werder and Andrew Brush; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Genevieve, Catherine and Helen and three brothers, Walter, Chester and Stanley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m at St. Paul's R.C. Church, Route 17K, Bullville, with Fr. Patrick McGuigan, O. Carm., officiating.
Burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Alice W. Parke
Artist/Homemaker, 84

Alice W. Parke of Churchville, an artist and homemaker, died Monday, March 29, 2004. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Gregory H. and Margaret O. Wick, she was born in New Bedford, Mass.
Mrs. Parke graduated from Middletown High School and Pratt Institute of Design in New York City. She was the proprietor of the Middletown Art Gallery and Creek House Antiques.
She listened to books on tape from the Library of Congress because of her blindness and was an avid reader. Her family was her life's work and she enjoyed music and nature .
Mrs. Parke was a member of the Catskill Art Society, a member of the Horton Hospital Auxiliary and the Lenten Sewing Club.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William D. Parke, at home; three children, Suzanne A Parke of Tallahassee Fla., Gregory H. Parke of Otisville and Joanne Hagy and her husband, Timothy, of Spencerport; four grandchildren, Sondra Krieg and her husband, John, of Boston, Mass., Rebecca Kain of Chicago, Ill., William Kain of Canandaigua, and Justin Timineri of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Mary Donnelly, and a nephew, Jon Donnelly of Middletown.
Private services were held in Rochester.
Interment was made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Association for the Blind, 422 S. Clinton Ave., Rochester, N.Y 14620.

Irene M. Neely, 94
Ret. Businesswoman

Irene M. Neely of Venice, Fla., a former resident of Middletown and the former owner and founder of Tel-Rad Message Center in Middletown, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, in Venice, Fla. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late William J. and Anna Kallberg McGuigan, she was born June 24, 1910, in New York City. She was the widow of William F. Neely who died in April 1957.
Mrs. Neely moved to Sackett Lake with her family when she was seven. She began working as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Co. in Monticello and by 19 was both a supervisor and instructor. After 20 years service, she left the phone company to open a doctor's telephone exchange known as "Neely's Answering Bureau Service." In 1955 she received a grant from the FCC to operate a mobile radio station, transforming the business into Tel-Rad Message Center.
In 1975, she retired to Venice, Fla., where she learned how to fire ceramics, improve her side stroke, played more bridge, supplied the family with macrame items, cooked her famous pot roast, finally took golf lessons and taught everyone where to find the best sharks teeth.
However, after little more than a year of retirement, she was ready to dust off her headset and accepted a position at G&H Answering Service to "operate the board," which she did until age 88. She recently reminisced, "Not many people can say that they loved their work but there wasn't a day that I went to the board that I didn't love what I did." The Park Place Retirement Community has been her home for the past five years.
Mrs. Neely was a communicant of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice and was a member of the Epiphany Guild.
In a family statement, it was said "In her unwavering faith, strength and determination, mom was an example to all who loved her. She was quick to credit devotion of 'her guys' – St. Anthony and St. Jude and their intercession on her behalf as the source of her endurance. 'Gram' has always been there for her family. she assures us that she still will be."
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, MaryAnn and Lenny LaFera of Marietta, Ga., and Patricia Neely-Formisano and her husband, Michael, of Middletown; a brother, Joseph McGuigan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a sister, Mary Motl of Stratford, Conn; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Hiroko Neely of New York City, Andrea LaFera-Bianco and Salvatore of Athens, Ga., Diana LaFera-Smith and Ricky of Marietta, Ga., Rachel LaFera-Jackson and Bruce of Jacksonville, Fla., Seth LaFera of Parma, Italy, Nathaniel and Heather LaFera of Woodstock, Ga., and Stephanie LaFera of New York City; a foster grandchild and her husband, Chrissy and Lloyd Smith and children, all of Kennesaw, Ga.; three great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Sascha and Dominic; her dear friend and husband's niece, Mrs. Evelyn Prochazka of Goshen; and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, "Young Bill," who died mysteriously in April 1955 while serving in the U.S. Navy, a grandson, Benjamin LaFera who died at the age of 3 in January of 1973, two brothers Sebastian McGuigan and william McGuigan, and a sister, Madeline Leffer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage S t., Middletown.
Burial will be made in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Carmelite Drive, Middletown, N.Y. 10940.
