Shirley Deighton of Conkin Hill, Damascus, Pa., a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. She was 76 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Bessie Stanton Wood, she was born September 27, 1928, in Braman, Pa.
She was a member of the Conklin Hill Church.
Mrs. Deighton is survived by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Deighton, at home; a son, Robert Deighton of Conklin Hill; three daughters, Lillian Lahm and her husband, George, of Damascus, Linda Whitmore of Conklin Hill and Gertrude Gager of Equinunk, Pa; 11 grandchildren, Daniel and David Hermann, Janice Payne, Mark Whitmore, Susan Sayer, William and Joseph Gager, Melissa Rutledge and Ashley, Michele and Melanie Deighton; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Abenes of Georgia; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elsie and Paul Majka of Fogelsville, Pa. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Vernon Whitmore, and a grandson, Brian Deighton.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday with Rev. Stuart Hunt officiating.
Burial will be made in the Conklin Hill Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.

Shirley Bunt, 72
Ret. Home Ec. Teacher
Shirley A. Bunt of LaPorte, Tex., a retired home economics teacher at the Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon and a longtime area resident, died February 1, 2005, in Texas. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Katie Stoesser Wilcox, she was born March 8, 1932, in the Town of Fremont. She was the widow of Fred K. Bunt.
A 1949 graduate of Roscoe Central School, she graduated from Buffalo State Teachers College and did further work at Oneonta State College. Mrs. Bunt also taught elementary school in the former Youngsville Central School.
She is survived by two children and their spouses, Clayton and Joyce Bunt of Hardin, Mont., and Beth and Mike Creegan of LaPorte, Tex.; a brother, Harry Wilcox and his wife, Eleanor, of Roscoe; two sisters, Helen Stewart and her husband, Ken, of Roscoe, and Rose Hendrickson of Oneonta; three grandchildren, Fred and Julie Bunt and Rachelle Creegan; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held locally at a later date.

Rosemary A. Werner
Ret. Teacher, 81
Rosemary A. Witt Werner of Shorrock Gardens, Toms River, N.J., a homemaker and a retired teacher in the Port Jervis City Schools where she taught for 25 years, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Shorrock Gardens. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Emma Callahan Witt, she was born March 11, 1923, in Port Jervis.
Mrs. Werner was a granddaughter of Jacob Callahan who tended Lock 35 of the Delaware and Hudson Canal in Spring Glen.
The first of her family to attend college, Mrs. Werner graduated from Elmira College in 1945 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. She worked as a chemist in the Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis for several years. Following the birth of her five children, Mrs. Werner earned her Master's degree in Education fromNew Paltz State Teachers College in 1959. She taught sixth grade at the Chruch Street School, the Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School and Port Jervis Middle School from 1959 to 1985, and served as principal of the Port Jervis summer school program for several years. She returned to teaching as a substitute teacher after her retirement.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mrs. Werner was a devoted wife and mother who worked tirelessly to ensure that all five of her children earned college degrees. She was very proud of their accomplishments and of all of her grandchildren's endeavors. In addition, she and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States, as well as Europe, Japan and Alaska."
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David J. Werner, at home; five children, John M. Werner and his wife, Kathy, of Hurley, David F . Werner and his wife, Paula, of Stockbridge, Ga., Kathryn Zlomek and her husband, Peter of Cary, N.C., Paul Werner of Prattsburgh and Susan M. Werner of Toms River, N.J.; five grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Groslimond of Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by a sister, FrancesBraisted.
Services and burial were private.

Mary Roby
Ret. RN, 70
Mary "Jean" Roby of Harris, a retired registered nurse and a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Alice O'Leary Moncey, she was born May 27, 1934, in Brockton, Mass.
She trained at the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Roby was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello and an active member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also worked on the church bulletin and cleaning committee. She was also a member of the Calico Geese Quilting Club.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mom cherished family with her warm smile and kind personality and had a way to make everyone feel like part of her family. She beamed with great pride and love when spending quality time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Her gift for quilting and sewing enabled her to gladly give back with many handmade baby blankets and quilts for friends, family and co-workers. Mom adored her loyal friends at the church, quilting club and Mahogany Ridge. She enjoyed her great love of nature with campfires, fishing, sunsets, foliage, the ocean and eagle watching."
She is survived by her husband, Elmer W. Roby, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law. Bonnie and Fred DeGraw of Harris and Brenda and Mike Cohn of Monticello; a son, Kevin G. Roby of Liberty; a brother, John Moncey of Massachusetts; three sisters, Luice Moncevitch and Brenda LaBrie, both of Massachusetts and Nance Leslie of Maryland; three grandchildren, Jennifer DeGraw, Ricky DeGraw and Samantha Cohn; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Moncey.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty St., Monticello.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the WSUL Heart-a-Thon to be held in February.
Elmer Morgan
Ret. Driver, 76
Elmer "Jack" Morgan of Rock Hill, a retired driver for Hallock Lumber Inc., in Maybrook, and a former resident of Walden, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at his home. He was 76 years of age.
The son of the late Walter and Katheryn Kolakowski Morgan-Shay, he was born February 19, 1928, in Worton, N.J.
In a family statement, it was said, "Jack loved woodworking, fishing, camping, horses and Harleys. Most of all, he loved his family."
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Harper Turner Morgan, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Frank Nowicki of Florida, N.Y., and Deborah and Brian Raudibaugh of Oneonta; a son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Marie Morgan of South Fallsburg; four step-daughters and their spouses, Dorothy and Luke Powers of Newburgh, Gale and Elisha Cooper of Bullville, Linda and Dominick Markisello of Hasbrouck and Donna and John Murgolo of Rock Hill; two steps sons, Earl Turner and his wife, Rosemary, of Walden and James Turner of Walden; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Mary Shay of Boonton, N.J., and Richard and Joanne Shay of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Shay and her companion, Diane Klumb, of Davies, Fla.; 33 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Crystal Morgan, and a sister Katheryn Shay.
Services were held Monday at the Amazing Grace Fellowship in Pine Bush with Pastor Elisha Cooper officiating.
Cremation was private.

Frances Tavormina
Nurse/Risk Manager, 69
Frances Tavormina of Woodbourne, a nurse and risk manager for Community General Hospital, died Saturday February 5, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Antonette Wolfe Wegman, she was born April 19, 1935, in Callicoon.
Mrs. Tavormina was a volunteer for Hospice of Sullivan County and a substitute nurse at the Fallsburg and Tri-Valley Schools. She was a charter member of the Woodbourne First Aid Squad and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Woodbourne Fire Company #1; an active member of Retired Chapter #82; a founder of the Head Start program in Woodbourne and First Federally Funded Nursing Program in Sullivan County; and a clerk at the Fallsburg Library.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Tavormina, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Catherine Tavormina of Woodbourne; a daughter Nancy Tavormina-McLain of Woodbourne; three grandchildren, Kimberly, Tabatha and James; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Donald LaBarge of Sarasota, Fla., and Roberta and Peter Chama-lian of Burlington, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Berdellans of the state of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday evening at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Robert Konvalin officiating.
Burial was made in the Workman's Circle Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Olga Samilo
Homemaker, 86
Olga Samilo of Glen Spey, a homemaker, died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at St. Joseph's Place in Port Jervis. She was 86 years of age.
Mrs. Samilo was born March 2, 1918, in Ukraine.
She was a member of St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey.
Mrs. Samilo is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and John Kapczak of Glen Spey; two sons, John Samilo of California and Michael Samilo of Seaford; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Liturgy Mass was offered at St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday with the Rev. Mark Hirniak officiating.
Burial was made in the Glen Spey Cemetery

Ricardo Rios
Mechanic, 51
Ricardo Rios of Monticello, a self-employed mechanic and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 51 years of age.
The son of the late Ricardo Rios and Concepcion Rivera, he was born July 27, 1953, in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Rios was a veteran of the armed services.
He is survived by his companion of more than 11 years, Mayra Quintana of Monticello; two sons, Richard and Anthony Rios; and a daughter, Yvonne.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Wednesday with Fr. Robert Ginel officiating.
