Sq. Dance Caller
Irwyn Correll of Waymart, Pa., a well-known square dance caller for 40 years and responsible for bringing modern western square dancing to Northeastern Pennsylvania, died Saturday, January 1, 2000, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
The son of the late Stanley and Flossie Hartley Correll, he was born in Carbondale, Pa.
As a Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a machinist mate, and as an Army veteran of the Korean War, he served as a staff sergeant. Mr. Correll was a member of the Waymart American Legion Post 889, the Waymart Masonic Lodge #542 and the Twilight Golf League. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High Shcool in Carbondale and attended Penn State University and the University of Scranton.
Mr. Correll was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Pa. He had been employed by the Hendrick's Manufacturing Co. in Carbondale, Pa., for 43 years as a certified machinist. He was also a member of the American Square Dance Callers Association and was the club caller for the Rare Square in Honesdale, Pa., and the Abington Alleranders in Clarks Summit, Pa., a member of the Waymart Zoning Board and the board of directors of the Waymart Ambulance Corps.
Mr. Correll is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alberta Breidenstein Correll, at home; three sisters, Shirley Jaworski of Port Charlotte, Fla., Barbara Crocker of Union Dale, Pa., and Almy Ely of Watkins Glen; a niece and several nephews.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale with the Rev. Kenneth Carder officiating.
Burial was made in the Canaan Corners Cemetery in Waymart.

Kenneth C. Osteyee
Ret. Sr. Elec. Estimator, 80
February 22, 2000 -- Kenneth C. Osteyee of Eldred, a retired senior electrical estimator and inspector for Bendix Corp. of New York and other power utility companies throughout New York and New Jersey, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where he had been a patient for a week. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Clarence H. and Elizabeth Mann Osteyee, he was born in Pittsfield, Mass.
Mr. Osteyee was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytech Institute in Brooklyn.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret L. Anderson Osteyee; two daughters, Carol Helen Osteyee of Morganton, N.C., and Wendy Osteyee Christensen and her husband, the Rev. David B. Christensen of Harleysville; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Osteyee.
Services and burial were private.
Anthony M. LeRoy

Anthony Meyer Leroy of Ferndale, the 2 1/2 month-old son of Elise Meyer and Martin LeRoy, died Monday, February 14, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany.
He was born November 24, 1999, in Harris.
Little Anthony is survived by three brothers, Christopher, Jonathan and Joseph; two sisters, Elizabeth and Judith Ann; and his maternal grandfather, John Perrotti.
Services were held in St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Adeline L. Nowicki
Homemaker, 75
Adeline L. Nowicki of Pine Bush, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, February 17, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 75 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Catherine Mydosh Wisneski, she was born August 29, 1924, in Florida, N.Y. She was the widow of Anthony Nowicki.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a warm, loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by family and friends."
Mrs. Nowicki was a member of the Church of The Infant Saviour in Pine Bush.
She is survived by a son, Gene Nowicki of Pine Bush; two daughters, Della Mikulski and Loretta Davitt, both of Maybrook; two sisters, Theresa Steele of Bloomingburg and Irene Dombrowski of the state of Florida; a brother, John Wisneski of Wurtsboro; seven grandchildren, Michelle and Jennifer Zazersky, Lindsey Nowicki, Brian Mikulski and Justin, Ryan and Stephanie Davitt; and a great-grandson, Justin Davitt Jr. She was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine Zazersky.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday in the Church of The Infant Saviour in Pine Bush.
Burial was made in the New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush.
Regina Pierson
Homemaker, 85
Regina Pierson of Monticello, a lifelong area resident and a homemaker, died Saturday, February 19, 2000, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Katherine Kearney Pierson, she was born in Parksville.
Miss Pierson was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Miller of Monticello.
Services were held Monday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.
Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Harrison L. Penny, 75
Harrison L. Penny of Grahamsville died Thursday, February 17, 2000, at his home. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late William H. and Pearl Donnelly Penny, he was born April 29, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J.
In a family statement, it was said, "He had a great enjoyment of nature. He loved to build birdhouses and planters and received great reward in giving them to people. He always had a joke. He was a very kind, quiet and gentle man."
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Penny, at home.
Services were held Sunday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Robert Hoag officiating.
Burial will be made on Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, N.J.

Eva J. Geysen Stevens of Edenton, N.C., a former employee of the Empire National Bank in Washingtonville and a cook for the Montgomery Nursing Home, died Thursday, February 17, 2000, in Forestburgh. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Swain Badalucco, she was born November 17, 1927, in Highland Falls. She was the widow of LeRoy E. Stevens.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Kathryn Geysen of Rock Tavern, Ronald and Eileen Geysen of Forestburgh and Michael and Lisa Stevens of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Gloria Gerard of Cornwall, Diane Budd and her husband, Ed, of Middletown, and Kathy Stevens of Montgomery; three brothers, George Badalucco of Walden, Joseph Badalucco of Montgomery and Herbert Carnes of Georgia; a sister, Diana Fuller of Nevada; seven grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Stevens.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home in Walden.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Laura B. Rowe of Montgomery, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, February 16, 2000, at the Glen Arden Health Care Center in Goshen. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late George and Minerva Talmadge Ryder, she was born April 27, 1917, in Monroe. She was the widow of Donald Rowe.
Mrs. Rowe was a member of the Brick Reformed Church and the Ballard League of the Church, and the Montgomery Grange #916, all in Montgomery, and the Orange-Sullivan Pomona Grange #8.
She is survived by two sons, John Smedes of Germany and Donald Smedes of Wurtsboro; four daughters, Mary Fuller of Baltimore, Md., Shirley Ellison of Pine Bush, Carol Johnson of Norwich and Pat Kelly of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Douglas Porto of Middletown; and several grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at the Millspaugh Funeral Home in Walden with the Rev. Brian Randazzo officiating.
Burial was made in the Brick Church Cemetery in Montgomery.

Dorothy L. Amback of Lakeland, Fla., a homemaker, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Wilbert S. and Kate L. Walter Lusk, she was born October 29, 1917, in Binghamton. She was the widow of Reginald J. Amback who died November 19, 1994.
Mrs. Amback was a 65-year member and past District Deputy of Beulah Rebekah Lodge #115 in Binghamton, and a member of Otsenengo Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, in Binghamton.
She is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, June A. and Donald Smith of Sherburne; a grandson; and several nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
Services were held at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe on Monday with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Burial will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe in the spring.
