Jonathan P. Purcell of Washingtonville, a student at Rockland County Community College, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Blooming Grove. He was 18 years of age.
The son of Neil P. Jr. and Laura J. Miglionico Purcell, he was born March 26, 1986, in Suffern.
A graduate of Washingtonville High School, he was attending Rockland County Community College for Media Arts. With a passion for music, his hobby was playing drums.
In a family statement, it was said "Jonathan was a loving son, grandson and brother."
He is survived by his mother of Washingtonville; his father of Haverstraw; his paternal grandfather Neil Purcell, and his wife, Anne, of Avon, Fla.; his paternal grandmother Angelina Purcell of Haverstraw; his maternal grandparents, John and Virginia Dambrosio of Haverstraw; two sisters, Jessica and Jayme Purcell, both of Washingtonville; six aunts and uncles and their spouses, Kevin Purcell and his wife, Terri Panaro, of Spark Hill, Jean Marie and James Vandeveer of Wharton, N.J., Richard and Lisa Purcell of Pomona, Susan and Greg Gage of Stony Point, Gabriel and Margaret Miglionico of Stony Point and Catherine Millen of Bloomingburg; three cousins, Alan Millen of Middletown, Richard Garrison of West Haverstraw and Zoe Miglionico of Stony Point; and a large extended family.
Friends may call at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw.
James Van Etten
Retired Roofer
James "Jim" Van Etten, a retired roofer in the construction industry and a 25-year resident of the state of Florida, died Friday, February 4, 2005, in Fort Pierce, Fla.
He was born in Monticello.
Mr. Van Etten is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lenora Van Etten of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sons, Vincent James Van Etten and Craig James Van Etten, both of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a brother, Mark Van Etten of Livingston Manor; a sister, Cheri Van Etten of Clairmont, Fla.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Haisley Hobbs Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Rd., Fort Pierce, Fla., on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
Angelina Frangipane

Angelina Frangipane of Liberty, a retied assistant supervisor for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Antonino and Rosaria Vasta Bellini, she was born August 20, 1917, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Frangipane was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty.
She is survived by three daughters Iris Pedreira and Juliana Frangipane, both of Liberty, and RoseMarie Barbato of New York City; a sister, Carmella "Milly" Palmieri of Long Island; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Charles Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Florence Kinne
Ret. RN, 79
Florence Kinne of Mongaup Valley, a longtime area resident, a retired evening nursing supervisor at the Sullivan County Infirmary and a surgical nurse at the former Hamilton Avenue Hospital in Monticello, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at her home after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Daniel and Christine Mikula Kowalchik, she was born December 22, 1925, in Dickson City, Pa. She was the widow of Fred V. Kinne who died in 1987.
She and her husband formerly owned the Reddy Trucking Co. in Monticello which he ran with their two sons.
Mrs. Kinne was a member of theMongaup Valley United Methodist Church
In a family statement, it was said "She has spent the last 17 years doting on her beautiful sons, James and Fred. During the last five months, when Mom needed 24-hour care, her 'daughter,' Christiane and her 'son,' Fred III, came and took excellent care of her so she could spend her final days in the home she loved so dearly."
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred V. and Carol Kinne of Mongaup Valley and James and Avis Kinne of White Lake; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and John Pronko of Olyphant, Pa. and Lorraine and Thomas Maxwell of Cheshire, Conn.; five grandchildren, Fred V. Kinne III and his wife, Christiane, Shannon Kinne, Christine Brodsky, Philip Kinne and Louis Kinne; and a great-granddaughter Sonia Brodsky. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Kowalchik and Dolores Powe.

Walter T. Cooper
Ret. Aircraft Designer, 87
Walter T. Cooper of Mountaindale, a designer for Grummond Aircraft, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Thomas H. and Rhea Grove Cooper, he was born August 28, 1917 in Brooklyn.
A World War II Army veteran, he received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Service Medal. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Woodridge United Methodist Church, the GUNY Retiree Club and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rhoda Cooper, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gregory Martin of Yakima, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Debra Cooper of Seymour, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Suzanne Muhrfield of Pittsburgh Pa., Jennifer Paolini of Bayport, and Joseph Cooper and Jared Cooper, both of Knoxville, Tenn. He was predeceased by a brother, Laton Cooper.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Interment will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Dorothy K. Meyer
Ret. Businesswoman, 81
Dorothy Kutcher Meyer of Lake Huntington, a retired vice president of Gasko & Meyer and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 13, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Kraus Kutcher, she was born November 27, 1923, in Narrowsburg.
Mrs. Meyer was a member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Lake Huntington, a member of the church choir and a religious education teacher. She was also a member of the Women's Community Club of Cochecton, and a member and former treasurer of the Town of Cochecton Ambulance Corps.
In a family statement, it was said, "Loved ones never leave us; for they are always there in our hearts."
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce Meyers, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Ron Hiller of Conklin and Mary Jane and Jeff Nober of Lake Huntington; two sisters, Mary Dermody and Gertrude Martin; and five grandchildren, Kara and Erin Hiller, and Bruce, Heather and John Nober. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Cunningham and Margaret Preis.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church at 10 a.m on Wednesday with the Rev. Evan Greco, O.F.M., officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Francis Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Christopher Mann
Ret. Truck Driver, 86
Christopher S. Mann of Cuddebackville, a retired truck driver for Geiger's Lumber Co. in Tallman and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at the Bronx VA Medical Center. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Joshua and Syvira Mann, he was born April 4, 1919, in Ramsey, N.J. He was the widower of Gerania Mann.
Mr. Mann was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by 10 children, Joshua Mann and his wife, Joan, of Greenwood Lake, Charles Mann and his wife, Glenda, of Wurtsboro, David Mann and his wife, Kathy, of Cuddebackville, Eric Mann of Woodridge, Paul Narzinski and his wife, Kathy of Pine Bush, John Narzinski of Pine Bush, Barbara Barettie, Ilenne Mann of Monticello, Lori Conklin of Liberty and David T. Mann of Monticello; a grandson, Lawrence Mann, whom he raised, and his wife, Betty, of Cuddebackville; four brothers, Robert, Joe, John and Charles Mann; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Christine Mann and Rebecca Jenski, and a son, Lawrence Mann.
Services were held Sunday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was private.
Bertha Belag
Homemaker, 85
Bertha Belag of Liberty, a homemaker, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late Abraham and Rose Zygmond, she was born January 21, 1920, in Berlin, Germany. She was the widow of Markus Max Belag.
She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Belag of Liberty; and a nephew. She was predeceased by a sister.
Graveside services and burial were held Sunday at the Beth Israel Memorial Park Cemetery in Wood-ridge, N.J. with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Jeannette Torrence
Homemaker, 77
Jeannette Torrence of Middletown, a homemaker with the Orange Homemaker Services, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Elsie VanHahsel, she was born April 13, 1927, in Queens.
She is survived by two sons, John William Torrence and William Charles Torrence of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Angelo Ramos of Bloomingburg, and Kathy and Rick Rushing of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, William VanHahsel and a sister, Louise Wedding.
Services were held Sunday at the Morse Funeral Home in Middletown.
Interment was made at the Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.
