Esther E. Maddox of the Bronx, a former resident of Ellenville and a retired social worker for the New York City Department of Social Services, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Laura Life Maddox, she was born September 11, 1924, in Buffalo.
She moved to New York State from Savannah, Ga., when she was 14. Mrs. Maddox attended Ellenville High School and later moved to the Bronx where she held many jobs before being employed by the City of New York.
She is survived by a brother, John D. Maddox of Georgia; four sisters, Hazel B. Maddox of Ellenville, Hilda S. Maddox of Washingtonville, Deborah L. Lawson of White Plains and Dora M. James of New Jersey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence W. and Levon E. Maddox, and a sister, Virginia Williams.
Services were held Wednesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ellenville with Pastor Cuke officiating.
Interment was made in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund, Clinton Ave., and Center St., Ellenville, N.Y. 12428.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Stephen Skabowski
Ret. UPS Mechanic, 63
Stephen Skabowski of Beach Lake, Pa., a retired mechanic for UPS and a 10-year area resident, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 63 years of age.
The son of the late Stephen and Mary Raulson Skabowski, he was born September 3, 1941, in Williamsburg, N.Y.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In a family statement, it was said, "Stephen was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a special person that made friends everywhere he went. Him and his fella did everything together, inseparable. He will greatly be missed by all."
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Victoria Terepka Skabowski, at home; a daughter, Lisa Maxson of Long Island, a son, Andrew Skabowski of Katy, Tex.; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Meghan and Liam Maxson and Kyle Skabowski; and a brother Robert Skabowski of Stockholm, N.J.
Services were held Wednesday at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.
Cremation was made at the Maple Hill crematory in Archbald, Pa.

Josephine DelTorto
Homemaker, 73
Josephine Valenti DelTorto, a 14-year resident of Burlingham, formerly of New Rochelle and a homemaker, died Friday, March 4, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Luigi and Luigia Amorosa Valenti, she was born September 28, 1931, in New Rochelle.
In a family statement, it was said, "Josephine loved life, especially being with her family and many friends."
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Pasquale J. DelTorto, at home; two daughters, Catherine Ahern, and Susan and her husband, Richard Duksa; a son, Robert DelTorto and his wife, Dottie Hilton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Bradbury, Jamie Ahern and Claudia Duksa; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Catherine Bradbury.
A Funeral Mass was offered Tuesday at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, N.J.
Interment was made in the Beechwoods Cemetery.

John Curry Sr.
Owned Garage, 56
John Curry Sr. of Woodbourne, a lifelong area resident and the proprietor of Grandpa John's Garage, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home. He was 56 years of age.
The son of the late James and Dorothy Sumpf Curry, he was born November 1, 1948, in Liberty.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy Curry, at home; two sons, James William Curry, at home, and John Curry Jr. and his wife, Annette, of Hurleyville; two daughters, Ann Marie Deck of Neversink, and Georgianna Curry and her companion, Robert, of Loch Sheldrake; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Curry of Loch Sheldrake; two nephews, Tony Curry of Loch Sheldrake and Robert Curry and his wife, Ursula, of Liberty; five grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley Deck, Jonathon Curry and his wife, Sarah, Stephanie Curry and Garrett Connor; and many friends, including close friends, John and Penny Ackerly of Loch Sheldrake.
Services were held Thursday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Interment was made in the Hillside Cemetery.
Marion Tole
Ret. Secretary, 67
Marion Shela Aikens Tole of Monticello, a former secretary for the Guardian Life Insurance Co. in Manhattan, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 67 years of age.
The daughter of the late John R. and Christine Boozer Aikens, she was born September 3, 1936, in Far Rockaway. She was the widow of Bendriis Torie Tole.
She received her early Christian training at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Far Rockaway and after relocating to Monticello became a member of the Bethelion Temple in Cochecton.
In a family statement, it was said, "Marion used her wisdom and knowledge in the nurturing of her family and all those whose lives she touched She believed that love and respect for each other was important for family unity."
She is survived by her daughter, Livaida; a son, Kuidon Tole of Woodbourne; a son-in-law, Winston Hadaway; two grandchildren, Torri and Chemese Hadaway; two sisters, Rebecca and Helen Aikens; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kelata Pia Tole.
Services were held Thursday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.
Burial was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Corey Dellatore
Student, 6
Corey Bryce Dellatore of Wall-kill, a first grade student at Leptondale Elementary School, entered into rest unexpectedly on Friday, September 14, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 6 years of age.
Corey was born November 3, 2000 in Valhalla. He was a devoted Yankees fan, and enjoyed playing baseball with the Monticello Little League, riding his bike, playing video games and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Angela Princivil and her husband, Jeff, of Wallkill; his father, Michael Dellatore and his companion, Jennifer Coyle, of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his sister, Kirsten; his brother, Trevor, and his triplet brothers, Tyler and Dylan, of whom Corey was the bright and driving leader.
He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Angela Babcock and Roy Cooper of Monticello; his paternal step-grandfather, Richard Cummings of Monroe; his uncles, Laird DeGroat and Mitchell Taylor of Monroe; a stepsister, Ayanna Princivil; Justin and Jason Coyle; and many family friends and schoolmates.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, at the Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh with Father William Scafidi officiating.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
Frederick Williams
Ret. Trans. Specialist, 85
Frederick Williams of Newburgh, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Castle Point. He was 85.
The son of the late Fred Williams and Ola Funderburk, he was born on September 12, 1921 in Monroe, N.C. He was an Army veteran, and a retired transportation specialist of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Frederick was also a member of the A.M.E. Zion Church of Newburgh.
He is survived by one son, Edward Frederick Williams and his wife, Dorlena, of Hope Mills, N.C.; one daughter, Elvira Pauline Williams of Monticello; one brother, Fred Williams Jr. and wife, Esteen, of Newburgh; four sisters, Kathryn Rann, Clara Roddy, Marie Harris of Palo Alto, Calif., and Annie Harrison of Ashville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Deebea Rowe and her husband, Desmond, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Paul Fredrick Williams of San Francisco, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
His loving wife, Pauline Perry Williams, predeceased him.
Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope.
Arrangements were by Rhodes Funeral Homes.
Viola M. Tempel
Business Owner, 93
Viola M. Tempel of Shandelee, a lifetime resident of Sullivan County, died on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 93.
The daughter of Edwin J. and Adelaine Kleingardner Turk, she was born March 14, 1914 in Acidalia. Viola was the widow of Joseph P. Tempel.
Viola was the former owner and operator of The Tempel Inn in Shandelee, a member of the St. Aloysius Church, the Altar Rosary Society of the St. Aloysius Church, and the Sacred Heart Society. She was a past member of the Shandelee Grange, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Fulton and her husband, George, and Judy Tuleweit and her husband, Gerald, all of Shandelee; two granddaughters, Brenda Parks and her husband, John, and Julie Diescher and her husband, Greg; two grandsons, Bruce Fulton and his wife, Denise, and Christopher Tuleweit; six great-grandchildren, Dallas, Cody, Dalton, Wyatt, Lindsey, and Austin.
She was predeceased by her brother, Chauncey Turk.
Visitation will be held privately.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, at St. Aloysius Church, Church St., Livingston Manor.
Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston Manor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 1, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 or St. Aloysius Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home.
William Indrunas
William Indrunas, a longtime resident of Hankins, died Saturday after a long illness at Catskill Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Indrunas-McGee and son-in-law, Eric McGee; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Leon, Candice, Catherine and Michael.
Private services are being planned by the family.
