Ruth A. Leonard
Tailor

Ruth A. Leonard of Wurtsboro, a longtime area resident and a self-employed tailor, working out of her home, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown.
The daughter of the late Raymond and Genevieve Brown Crane, she was born in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, David Leonard, at home; four children, Chris Fine and his wife, Donna, of Pine Bush, Danny Fine and his wife, Dena, of Middletown, Keith Leonard of Middletown and Jenna Maley of Wurtsboro; a sister, Patricia Filannino of Orange City, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Kelly Fine of Pine Bush and Alyssa and Billy Maley of Wurtsboro. She was predeceased by a sister, Joan Carusillio.
A memorial service was held Friday at the Applebee-McPhillips funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Ken Wonderland officiating.

Watson D. Kinne
Ret. Parts Mgr., 90

Watson D. Kinne of Liberty, a longtime area resident and a retired parts manager for Gerow Ford in Liberty, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late Floyd and Mamie Taylor Kinne, he was born June 22, 1914, in Brooklyn. He was the widower of Carolyn Kinne.
Mr. Kinne was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, a past member of the Liberty Elks #1545 and a past member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #521, F.&A.M.
He is survived by a son, Randy Kinne of Liberty; two grandchildren, Scott Kinne and Kelly McMahon; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Erin Kinne, Sean McMahon Jr. and Kayla McMahon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Roger Kinne, three brothers, Lloyd, Wesley and Irving Kinne, and a sister, Laura Crook.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Presbyterian Church, Main St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

M. Noreen Ruppert
Homemaker, 75

M. Noreen Ruppert of Middletown, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at her home. She was 75 years of age.
The daughter of the late Harry and Mary Lord Rezzoali, she was born August 10, 1929, in Middletown.
Mrs. Ruppert was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Middletown a longtime member of the Lenten Sewing Club and a member of the Middletown Seniors.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Ruppert, at home; five children and their spouses, Larry and Sharon Ruppert of Rock Hill, Dan and Dee Ruppert of Houston, Tex., Mary Jane and Neal Slater of Jensen Beach, Fla . John and Tamara Ruppert of Canton, Mass., and Carol and Fernando Picorelli of Woodridge N.J.; six grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Daniel, Jenna, Cassie and Danny; a great-granddaughter, Kaylin Ruppert; a sister, Jane M. Finn of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two nephews and a niece.
There will be no visitation.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Cottage St., Middletown.
Interment will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, N.Y. 10940 or to Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

Christina DeMartino
Homemaker, 100

Christina DeMartino of Wurtsboro, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Middletown Park Manor. She was 100 years of age.
The daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Accurso Russo, she was born December 12, 1904, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Frank X. DeMartino, who died November 20, 1973.
She formerly owned Martha's Restaurant in Wurtsboro, with her husband, years ago. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and Craft Circle. Mrs. DeMartino was also a member of the Mamakating Seniors, the Westbrookville Seniors, R. A .V.E., and the Mamakating Republican Club.
She is survived by her son, John DeMartino of New Mexico; two daughters, Martha DeMartino and Mary Barbuti and her husband, David, all of Wurtsboro; five grandchildren, Martha, John, Frank, Christine and David; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, High Street, Bloomingburg, with Fr. Raymond Bagdonis, O. Carm. officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Elizabeth Riddick
Lloyd's Retiree, 70

Elizabeth J. Riddick of Otisville, a retired employee of the former Lloyd's Department Store in Middletown and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Mazilli Nenna, she was born March 5, 1934, in Kingston, Mass. She was the widow of Lawrence L. Riddick who died June 18, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Smith of Sparrowbush and Sally Ogden of Mt. Vision; a son, James Brown of Wurtsboro; four brothers, Nicholas Nenna of California, Frank Nenna of Hobart, Mauro Nenna of Ferndale and Joseph Nenna of Warwick; five grandchildren, Kelly and Justin Smith and Jennifer, Scott and Valerie Ogden; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Rev. Robert Mayer officiating.
Burial was made in the Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.

Anelma M. Richter
Homemaker, 84

Anelma "Anne" M. Richter of Goshen, a homemaker, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Arden Hill Campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Alex and Elizabeth Saari Hanka, she was born May 25, 1920, in Embarrass, Minn.
In a family statement, it was said, "Beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was dedicated to her family and loved to laugh, bake and garden. She was very active in community service. Anne was cherished and loved by all who knew her."
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Richter of East Durham; two sons and daughters-in-law., Arthur and Maryann Richter of Eveleth, Minn,and Brett and Susan Richter of Wurtsboro; two daughters, Wendy Karhack of East Durham and Maxx Lucido and her husband, Bart of Middletown; two brothers, Walter Hanka of Pike River, Minn., and Henry Hanka of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes, Minn.; a sister, Adele Buono of Saugerties; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Alex, Jesse, B.J., Ian, Benjamin and Liz; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Levi and Paul Hanka, and a sister, Inez.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m on Wednesday at the Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

Mary'n Cohen
Homemaker, 66

Mary'n Ruotolo Cohen of Monticello, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 66 years of age.
The daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Prokopets, she was born May 15, 1938, in New York City.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by her husband, George Cohen, at home; two sons, Andrew Ruotolo of Monticello and Gerald Ruotolo and his longtime companion, Theresa Olds, of the state of Florida; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Nick Miraglia of Staten Island, Laura Ruotolo of Middletown and Erica and Jay Sherb of Monticello; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Madeline Prokopets of New Jersey; two sisters, Ann Bajzath and her husband, Joseph, and Helen Hassell, all of New Jersey; eight grandchildren Joseph, Danielle, Nicholas, Ericka, Amanda, Jennifer, Robert and Samantha; seven great-grandchildren; three step-children, Sarah Fields and her husband, Bill, of Pennsylvania, Ericka Seaman and her husband, Richard, and Steven Cohen, all of the state of Florida; two step-grandchildren, Megan and Carley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7- p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph's R .C. Church in Mongaup Valley with the Rev. John Tran officiating.
Burial will be made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

William Ashworth
Ret. Mechanic, 87

William J. Ashworth of Westbrookville, a lifelong area resident, a retired partner of J.E. Ashworth Sons Blanket Mill in Westbrookville and a retired general mechanic for the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in New Hampton, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Albert P. and Jessie C. Paterson Ashworth, he was born September 1, 1917, in Westbrookville.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served with the 35th Seabees during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #1266 in Wurtsboro. Mr. Ashworth was also a member of the Westbrookville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Westbrookville Fire Department and a member of the C.S.E.A.
He is survived by his wife, Leona M. Schlund Ashworth, at home; twin daughters, Marlene Roe and her husband, Robert, and Darlene Rassiga and her husband, Jake, all of Westbrookville; three grandsons, William Attreed, Brian Hogencamp and his wife, Dr. Toni Ann, and Dean Hogencamp and his fiancée, Jennifer Bunce. He was predeceased by a sister, Luella Ashworth.
Friends call at the Westbrookville United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the church on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Louise Thomas officiating.
Private burial will be made in the Spring in the Westbrookville Cemetery.

Karl Pfeil Sr.
Ret. Laborer, 76

Karl Pfeil Sr. of Jeffersonville, a retired laborer at Grossinger's Hotel and Resort, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 76 years of age.
The son of the late John and Anna Kaksa Pfeil, he was born April 22, 1928, in Yugoslavia.
Mr. Pfeil was a member of the Sullivan County Senior Citizens and had served in the Yugoslavian Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Gisela Selthafner Pfeil of Youngsville; his companion, Erna Lackner of Jeffersonville; three sons John and his wife, Jeanette Pfeil of Fremont Center, Tony and his wife, Pam Pfeil, of Kenoza Lake, and Karl Pfeil Jr. of Youngsville; a daughter, Anna Stephenson and her husband, Allan, of Briscoe; four brothers, Tony, Steven, Jacob and Franz Pfeil, and two sisters, Kathy and Rose, all of Austria; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Laura Stephenson, a brother, Joseph Pfeil Jr., and an infant son.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville with Father Ignatius Vu officiating.
Cremation will be made at Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Squad, Jeffersonville, N.Y. 12754 or to the Cochecton Ambulance Corps, Lake Huntington, N.Y. 12752.
