Angela Crawford
Homemaker

Angela Maria Eusse Crawford of Indian Field in White Lake, formerly of Medellin, Colombia, died at her home on Saturday, February 4, 2006 surrounded by her family.
Angela is survived by her husband of 27 years, John “Jack” Crawford; three brothers and one sister in Colombia; three stepchildren; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass and interment will take place at a later date in Colombia.
Memorial contributions in Angela’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Funeral arrangements were by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes Inc., Kauneonga Lake.

Karina Kruseck, 68
Homemaker

Karina Kruseck of Glen Spey died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of Max Sage and Margaret Bretch, she was born December 16, 1937 in Berlin, Germany.
She is survived by two daughters, Dony Compa-Waltz and her husband, Kenneth, of Laytonville, Calif., and Diana Sky Arledge of Glen Spey; six grandchildren, Gene and Danielle Compa of Laytonville, Calif., Jason and Justin Nixon of Liberty, Kyla Tuttle and Jesse Schatz of Glen Spey; and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation was made at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes of Liberty.

William DeFreese, 88
Ret. Machinist

William Earl DeFreese, a retired machinist for Chester Cable, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Castle Point VA Medical Center. He was 88.
The son of the late Charles L. DeFreese and Beatrice Elizabeth DeFreese, he was born February 15, 1917 in Ringwood, NJ.
Mr. DeFreese was the widower of Anna Gertrude Mann DeFreese.
William served our country in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Gannon of Westtown, Barbara Henderson of Liberty and Barbara Ann DeFreese; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Victor and a daughter, Gloria.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Gandy officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Grace J. Hillriegel
Sull-West Student, 7

Grace J. “Gracie” Hillriegel of Callicoon, a lifelong area resident and student at Sullivan West School District, died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at her home. She was 7.
The daughter of Brian M. and Jeannie E. Ebert Hillriegel, she was born April 3, 1998 in Honesdale, Pa.
Grace was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Callicoon.
She is survived by her parents, at home; a brother, Michael Hillriegel, at home: her paternal grandparents, Philip and Nancy Hillriegel of Callicoon; her maternal grandparents, Diana and Giles Ebert of Callicoon; her paternal great-grandparents, Marge and Lester Hillriegel of Callicoon, and Nena Meyer of Hancock; her maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Simmons of Harpersfield; her aunts and uncles, Dina Engle and her husband, Bill, of Callicoon, Philip Hillriegel Jr. and his wife, Catherine, of Equinunk, Pa., Wade Ebert of Damascus, Pa., and Laura Hess and her husband, Bill, of Callicoon; and her cousins, Billy Engle, Tom Hillriegel, Tim Hillriegel, Tyler Hillriegel, and Taylor Hillriegel.
Visitation will be private.
Funeral services will be private with Fr. Ignatius Smith, O.F.M., officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, NY 12401 or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 9025, Pittsfield, MA 01202-9025.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Roscoe.

Belle Fox
Ret. Cook, 91

Belle Fox, a lifelong resident of Liberty who wintered in Florida, died Friday, January 27, 2006. She was 91.
The daughter of Anna and Phillip Hankin, she was born February 7, 1914. She was the widow of Joseph Etess and Goodman “Goody” Fox.
She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel and Hadassah of Liberty. She worked in Liberty at the family-owned “Hankin’s” Hotel, Marcia’s, and Grossinger’s Hotel. She worked as a cook at the Sullivan County Golf and Country Club and Goody’s Restaurant in Liberty until she retired. She was well-known for her potato salad, pot roast and homemade desserts.
She is survived by a sister, Frieda Rozansky of Columbus, N.J.; three children, Edward Etess and his wife, Becki, of LaJolla, Calif., Harvey Etess and his wife, Linda, of Windsor, and Marla Bloom and her husband, Arthur, (who sadly died one day after Belle) of Grandview; six grandchildren, Michael H. Etess, Laurie Lacara and her husband, Rob, of Calif., Scott Bloom and his wife, Elana, Jill Butterman and her husband, Howard, of Grandview, Kim Berryhill and her husband, Scott, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Chad Etess and his wife, RoseAnn, of Liberty; six great-grandchildren and one on the way, Justin and Jack Butterman, Zoe and Jake Etess, and Jordan and Zach Etess; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Edith Hankin.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of your choice.
Cremation was made at the Walter Sullivan Funeral Home, Binghamton.

Lorraine Moore
Homemaker, 65

Lorraine Moore of White Sulphur Springs died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 65.
The daughter of the late William and Elsie Elizabeth Conklin, she was born June 15, 1940 in Suffern. She was the widow of Benjamin P. Moore Sr., Roy Hemion, and Dobbie Conklin.
She is survived by three daughters, Anna Washburn and her husband, George Sr., of Middletown, Connie Doolittle and her husband, Richard Sr., of Bullville, and Lisa Jennings of Ellenville; four sons, Benjamin Moore and his fiancee, Debra, of Loch Sheldrake, William Moore and his fiancee, Joyce, and Gary Moore of White Sulphur Springs, and Robert Moore and his wife, Kimberley, of Liberty; and 19 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Hemion.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Morse Funeral Home in Middletown with Rev. Daniel Hulseapple officiating.
Cremation was made at Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester.

Eleanor A. Luis
Ret. Exec. Sec., 66

Eleanor A. Luis of Kauneonga Lake, a 20-year area resident, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 66.
The daughter of the late Elinar Gustav and Aina Carlson Anderson, she was born November 7, 1939 in Peekskill.
She was retired from her position as Executive Secretary for Lanensheidt Map Company in Maspeth, Queens.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, James S. Luis, at home; and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Sweden.
Funeral services were held Monday at Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Kauneonga Lake with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating.
Burial was made in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley

Susan L. Scheibling
Landlord, 52

Susan L. Scheibling of Liberty, a landlord and lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, waiting for a liver transplant. She was 52 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles and Emma Persche Scheibling, she was born August 29, 1953 in Narrowsburg. She was the widow of Timothy Kelly.
In a family statement, it was said, “Susan put her heart and soul into her children. She was a wonderful mother and friend. She will be forever missed.”
She is survived by two daughters, Jessica Scheibling-Kelly and Caitlin Scheibling-Kelly, both of Liberty; two brothers, Charles Scheibling and his wife, Jan, and Buddy Scheibling, all of Narrowsburg; three sisters, Lori Maas and her husband, Don, of Watkins Glen, Lorraine Bodens, and Kris Schluer and her husband, George, all of Narrowsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty with Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.

Deming L. Kehrley
Ret. Truck Driver, 73

Deming L. Kehrley of Swan Lake, a lifelong resident, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 73.
The son of Henry and Neda Hathaway Kehrley, he was born December 6, 1933 in Swan Lake. He was the widower of Norma Kehrley.
He was a retired truck driver for Teamsters Local 445 in Newburgh, a member and past chief of the Swan Lake Fire Dept. for over 50 years, and a 25-year member of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Joanne and Donna Kehrley, at home; a brother, Luther Kehrley of Woodridge; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Hogencamp and her husband, Robert, of White Sulphur Springs, and Connie Poley and her husband, Dick, of Cody, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Howard Kehrley.
A Firematic Service was held Friday at Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Liberty.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. David McCarthy officiating.
Burial was made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
