Charlotte Stapleton
Homemaker, 83

Charlotte M. Stapleton of Grahamsville died Friday, February 3, 2006 in Honesdale, Pa. She was 83.
The daughter of Paul and Elfrieda-Zeller Zeuge, she was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Berlin, West Germany. She was the widow of Robert V. Stapleton.
Mrs. Stapleton was a longtime resident of Ellenville and lived her last years in Grahamsville to be near her daughter and granddaughter. She was a member of long standing of the Shawangunk Country Club, and an organizer of the March of Dimes Ball. She participated in many fundraisers for the Ellenville Community Hospital, and was a past member of the Tri-Valley Lioness Club, the AARP Tri-Valley Chapter, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and James Hartman; a granddaughter, Jennifer Jordon; two great-granddaughters, Annaliese and Jordyn Dunne; and two step-grandchildren, Courtney and Justin Hartman.
In a family statement, it was said, “People who knew Mrs. Stapleton will remember her as an elegant and well-dressed lady with not a hair out of place.”
Burial was private.
Arrangements were made by Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.

Andrea Willinger, 50

Andrea Henriette Willinger of Grahamsville died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 50.
The daughter of the late Hyman and Blanche Greenberg Willinger, she was born on August 8, 1955 in New York City.
Andrea attended the Fallsburg Day Program.
She is survived by two brothers, David and Samuel Willinger, and her extended family at Crystal Run Village.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Burial was made in the Woodbourne Reform Cemetery, Woodbourne.
Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.

Violet A. Andersen
Homemaker, 92

Violet Adele Andersen of Beaumont, Calif. died Monday, January 23, 2006 at her care home in Cherry Valley, Calif. She was two days short of her 93rd birthday. She was the widow of Aage Frederik Andersen.
The daughter of Archibald and Caroline Eva Keesler Taylor, she was born January 25, 1913 at the family’s residence four miles north of Narrowsburg.
Her father was State Creamery Inspector at Skinners Falls, and her mother was the daughter of William and Nancy Keesler, proprietors of the Mansion House Hotel at Lake Huntington. Violet was a 1932 graduate of Narrowsburg Central Rural High School. She was first married to Otto De Broux for about three years, and for 37 years to Aage F. Andersen.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Beaumont, Calif.
She is survived by three children, Julia De Broux Marine of Del Mar, Calif., Alicia Andersen Cooley of Beaumont, Calif., and Anton Andersen of Rialto, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings, Edna Mae Swensen of Milanville, Pa., Raymond Taylor, Allen Taylor of Sullivan County, and Caroline Eva Rampe of Lima, Ohio.
Memorial services and burial plans are incomplete at this time.

Andrew J. Grimm Jr.
Auto Mechanic, 59

Andrew Jackson Grimm Jr. of Woodbourne, a lifelong area resident and a self-employed auto mechanic, died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at his home. He was 59.
The son of the late Andrew Jackson and Lulu Grimm, he was born September 25, 1946 in Ellenville.
He was a volunteer for the Soup Kitchen and the Federation for the Homeless for over nine years.
A family statement read, “He was a great friend, father and husband.”
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Grimm, at home; five daughters, Gloria Votee and her husband, Joseph, of Loch Sheldrake, Brenda Beach and her fiancee, David, of Woodridge, Mickie Damms and her husband, Harold, of Woodbourne, Lula Wormuth and her husband, William, of N.C., and Sharon Sanon of Woodbourne; five brothers, Benjamin Rose and his wife, Marie, of Accord, Clarence Rose and his wife, Joyce, of Mountaindale, John Rose of Las Vegas, Nev., James Grimm and his wife, Hazel, of Ludlow, Pa., and Harry Grimm and his wife, Donna, of Monticello; 28 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ceclia Doolittle and Evalynn Rose; and two grandchildren, William and Andrew Wormuth.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Harvell and Rev. Robert Hoag officiating.
Burial will be made in the Rural Cemetery in Grahamsville.

Edythe Johnson, 102
Ret. Schoolteacher

Edythe Johnson of Callicoon, a retired schoolteacher and longtime area resident, died Monday, February 6, 2006 in Callicoon. She was 102 years of age.
The daughter of Jesse and Mae Maring Rice, she was born September 6, 1903 in Blairstown, N.J. She was the widow of Merritt Johnson.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Callicoon.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Johnson of Callicoon.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hortonville Cemetery with Pastor Peg VanSiclen officiating.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

George L. Donahue
Ret. Constr. Wkr., 84

George L. Donahue of Port Jervis, a retired construction worker for Sullivan County Highway Products in Cuddebackville and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Place in Port Jervis. He was 84.
The son of the late Albert and Lillian Dexter Donahue, he was born August 14, 1921 in Tusten.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Weber Donahue, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sandy McBride of Winterhaven, Fla., and Richard and Cheryle McBride of Darby, Mont.; four sisters, Lucy Brown and Nellie Hjerrild, both of Glen Spey, Lena Kent of Port Jervis, and Adele LaBarr of Lava; three brothers, Albert “Don” Donahue of Glen Spey, John “Wick” Donahue of Lava, and Lester Donahue of Wurtsboro; five grandchildren, Billy, Aaron, Raymond, Colleen, and Robert; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jim Barnes, and a daughter, Nancy McBride.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be made in Glen Spey Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home of Port Jervis.

Doris A. Russo
Ret. Secretary, 79

Doris A. Russo of Lava, a retired secretary from Hamburg Savings Bank and a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Henry and Anna Schrimpf Amend, she was born November 7, 1926 in Brooklyn.
She was a former member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Brooklyn and attended Beach Lake United Methodist Church, Beach Lake, PA. Doris was a member of the Lava Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Joseph, at home; two sons, Gregg Russo and his wife, Lisa, of Atlanta, and Richard Russo and his wife, Marie, of Sheldon, Ct.; a sister, Adele Amend of Narrowsburg; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Russo.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church, Beach Lake, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Leonia Kuttner
Ret. Postmaster, 80

Leonia Kuttner of Rome, formerly of Lew Beach, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 in Rome. She was 80.
Leonia was the daughter of Frederick and Vernia Whitmore DeWitt. She was born November 4, 1925 in Cold Brook. She was the widow of Frank Kuttner, to whom she was married for 29 years.
She was the Postmaster of Lew Beach for many years, on the Board of Elections and Republican Committee.
A family statement reads: “Leonia Kuttner was many things to many people. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, aunt, wife, and sister. In each of these she added a dimension of strength that we can only hope to achieve. She tried to instill in us that family was everything. To her it was. She lived her life with a matter of dignity and respect that she tried to teach us. She also taught us to look to God. To help us with that which was humanly impossible for us to do. This is one of those times. We love you and may Jehovah keep you close until we meet again.”
Survivors include one son, Frank Kuttner and his wife, MaryEllen, of Livingston Manor; two daughters, Stephanie Brown and her husband, Joseph, of Rome and Mary Rampee and her husband, James, of Lew Beach; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Dorothy Barbuti and Jacquelynn Edwards, and by all her siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Lew Beach Cemetery. Gary Bivins will speak at the service.
Donations may be made to the Center for Discovery, 216 Old Rt. 17, Monticello, NY 12701 or the Beaverkill Valley Fire Dept., 1854 Beaverkill Rd., Lew Beach, NY 12758.
Arrangements are under the direction of Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor.

Doris Reed
Ret. Secretary, 86

Doris Reed, a retired Secretary for Code Enforcement in the Town of Lumberland, and lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Charles Sannwald and Julia Budd Sannwald, she was born March 26, 1920 in Middletown. She was the widow of Charles Reed.
She was a member of The Pond Eddy United Methodist Church; member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Lumberland Fire Department, and past President for six years; and member of the Lumberland Senior Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Dare Thiele and her husband, Pete, of Sparta, Tennessee, and Corinth McCooey and her husband, Bill, of Sparrowbush; seven sons, Lon Reed and his wife, Nancy of Oregon, Don Reed and his wife, Jean, of Glen Spey, Laurence Reed and his wife, Karen, of Greenville, Virginia, Jay Reed and his wife, Pat, of Port Jervis, Mark Reed and his wife, Judy, of Browns Mills, New Jersey, Rory Reed and his wife, Terry, of California, and Chris Reed and his wife, Diane, of Port Jervis; stepson, James Koferl and his wife, Linda; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Ronald and Lory Reed and two sisters, Jo-Ann Sannwald and Jean Schell.
Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, today, March 28, 2006 from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Hotzler and the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial will be in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lumberland Fire Department, Glen Spey, NY 12737 or to the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY 12770.
