Rinzo Andow passed away on March 15, 2006 from end stage congestive heart failure. He was 79.
Rin was a longtime resident of Monticello and Sacramento, Calif.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat; one brother, Kengi; five children; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held at Peninsula Bible Church, 3505 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, Calif. on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 3 p.m.

Sylvia C. Semel
Ret. Postmaster, 90
Sylvia C. Semel, a lifetime resident of the area, and a retired postmaster after 26 years of service in the Thompsonville Post Office, died on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at home with her family by her side. She was 90.
Sylvia was the widow of Michael Semel who passed away in 1983. She came to this area at the age of 5. She was the daughter of Max and Mamie Gard Uretzky who formerly owned the Mayflower Hotel in Thompsonville.
She was a member of the Landfield Ave Synagogue in Monticello, and a former Volunteer for 17 years at the Benjamin Cosor Elementary School in Fallsburg.
She was the loving mother of two daughters Maddy Weisman and her husband, Joseph of South Fallsburg and Arizona and June Wagner and her husband, Joseph of Ellenville; her brother, Jack Uretzky of Rockland County; and her four loving grandchildren, Harris, Rachel, Larry and Alyson; and her two great-grandchildren, Max and Theo.
Funeral services were held today, Friday, March 24 at 12 p.m. in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc. in Monticello. Rabbi Moshe Frank officiated.
Burial will be in Landfield Ave Synagogue Cemetery, Thompson Road, Monticello.

Joseph Ciro Aracci
Ret. Truck Driver, 70
Joseph Ciro Aracci, of Livingston Manor, died on Friday, March 24, 2006 at home with his loving family by his side. He was 70.
The son of the late Dominick and Laura Sagaona Aracci, he was born on April 4, 1935 in Brooklyn.
Joe was a retired tractor trailer driver from Drake’s Bakeries. He was a member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church of Livingston Manor.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Janice Keiser Aracci at home; two sons, Dominick Aracci and his wife, Christina, of Loch Sheldrake, and Joseph Aracci and his companion, Susan Miller, of Liberty; one daughter, Laura Rios and her husband, Juan, of Woodbourne; one daughter-in-law, Linda Aracci of Liberty; one brother, Anthony Aracci of Amity Harbor; four grandchildren: Michael, Carrie, Anthony and Stefanie; his very close friend, Charlie Schaff; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Ciro; and two sisters, Marie and Stefanie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Church Street, Livingston Manor on Sunday, March 26 at 11 a.m. Msgr. Collins officiated. Interment will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Livingston Manor.

Ret. Horse Trainer, 71
Frederick Rickan, a retired horse trainer for the Monticello Harness Association, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 71.
The son of the late Arthur Rickan and Lula Knight Rickan, he was born January 3, 1935 in Detroit, MI. He was the widower of Audrey Rickan.
Fred was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elk’s Lodge #1544 in Monticello, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hadley and her husband, Gary, of Monticello; three grandchildren, Tennille Callaghan, Casey Unger and Rachel Hadley, all of Monticello; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.

Robert DeFilippo, 71
Robert Thomas “Bob” DeFilippo passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 71.
The son of the late Julia and Nicholas DeFilippo, he was born March 6, 1935 in the Bronx, N.Y.
A family statement reads: “He was the foundation of our lives. He was always there for us, taking care of everything that needed to be done. He was gentle and strong. He loved animals and did everything to protect or help them in any way. We love him with all our hearts and will deeply miss him.”
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Veronica Lynch and son-in-law, John Lynch; his granddaughter, Tara Anne Wall; and his dog, Duke. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gail Lynne Wall.
Funeral services were handled by Sniffen-Sagala Funeral Home, 235 West Route 59, Spring Valley.
Jeffrey R. Corriveau
Business Owner, 40
Jeffrey R. Corriveau of Bloomingburg, a business owner of J&J Auto Wizards and Real Estate Agent, and beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle, entered into rest at Horton Hospital on March 22, 2006. He was 40 years of age.
The son of Gerard and Anna Corriveau, he was born August 29, 1965, in Queens.
A family statement reads: “Jeffrey was known for his humor, personality, jokes and most of all his love for his family and friends. He would do anything for anybody. He was a wonderful husband and father. He loved to ride his Busa “Hyabusa” motorcycle and his Hot Rods. Jeffrey was proud of his wife and boys, who brought endless pleasure and love to his life. We were blessed to have him as a husband and father. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.”
He is survived by his adoring family, his wife, Olga Libia Corriveau and their two sons, Anthony G. Corriveau and Nicholas D. Corriveau. Jeffrey is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Furlipa and his wife, June Furlipa and Jerry Corriveau and his wife, Lisa Corriveau; sister, Ann Marie Curtis and her husband, Ray Curtis; his mother-in-law, Stella Arango. He was the uncle to Martin Furlipa Jr., Jinda Furlipa, Lori Curtis, Raymond Curtis, Michael Curtis, Krista Corriveau, Nicolle Corriveau, Ashley Corriveau, Andrea Carraterro... cousins in New York; brother-in-law, William Arango; uncle, Louis Arango and his wife, Felicita.
Jeffrey was predeceased by a brother, Martin Furlipa Sr.; and father-in-law, Jimmy Amarianos.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, March 27 at The Chapel of Sacred Heart, 142 Stage Road, Monroe at 11 a.m. Fr. George Pulparayil officiated.

Helen M. Loucks of Woodbourne, formerly of Livingston Manor, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 78.
The daughter of Gus and Catherine Arhes Menikou, she was born August 13, 1927 in the Bronx.
She was a retired counselor for New Hope Community. She loved animals and donated her time to the Humane Society. She was a past member of the Livingston Manor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; a past member of the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church, and member of A.A.R.P.
She was the widow of John Loucks.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Prince and her husband, Richard Hand, of Woodbourne and Victoria Michalak and her husband, Jerry, of Holmes; three grandchildren, Krysta Hand, Richard Hand, Jr., and Erec Michalak; two sisters, Marie Costello and her husband, John, of the state Florida and Flora Menikou, also of the state of Florida.
She was predeceased by one sister, Georgia Jenkins.
Funeral service was at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March, 27 at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne. The Rev. Anthony Black officiated. Interment to follow at the Orchard Street Cemetery, Livingston Manor.

Selma Pellinger
Selma Pellinger of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Woodbourne, passed away on March 25, 2006.
She was the beloved wife of Jack; the cherished mother of Paul (Audrey) and Joy; grandmother to Hunter and Tyler; sister of Larry (Shelley) Malman; and sister-in-law of Lois and Betty.
Her love and beautiful heart will remain with all of us eternally.
Chapel services were held on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 11:45 a.m. at Star of David Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Rd., N. Lauderdale, Fla.
Stephen D. Long
Craftsman, 61
Stephen D. Long, a lifelong resident of the Callicoon area, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Westchester Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 61.
The son of the late Elmer C. and Nettie Klein Long, he was born April 16, 1944 in Callicoon.
He was a skilled woodworking craftsman and was presently employed by Youngsville Custom Kitchens in Middletown. He was a past member of the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, past member and secretary of the Callicoon Kiwanis Club, past member of the board of directors of the Delaware Valley Youth Center, and a past member of the Town of Damascus, Pa. Planning Board. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the 854th Engineers Battalion of the New York Army National Guard.
A family statement read, “Dad was the light of our lives. He was always there to help and support our family and friends. He will always be a part of our lives and will continue to be with us forever in our hearts and memories. We will love you always.”
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Barbara A. Theadore Long; his loving children, Janice A. Eisenhardt and her husband Scott of Montgomery; Jodi L. Ernst and her husband, Ian, of Cochecton; the “apples of his eye,” grandsons Noah and Tyler Eisenhardt and Connor Ernst; his mother-in-law, Anna Theadore of Callicoon; a devoted cousin who was more like a brother, Richard Long and his wife, Jill, of Canastota; his brother-in-law, Fred Theadore and his wife, Lavadia, of Middletown; his sister-in-law, Linda LaBolt and her husband, Roy, of Hudson, Fla; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main Street, Callicoon.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Peg Van Siclen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Hortonville Cemetery.
