Marilyn "Pinky" Calangelo a retired billing clerk of Livingston Manor died suddenly on November 15, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 69. Beloved mother of Margaret Roberts and her husband Harold of Livingston Manor; Martha Kluge and her husband John of Greenwood LA; Kathy Simmons and her husband Terry of Livingston Manor; Ann Marie Dennis and her companion Scott Conley of Roscoe; Peter Calangelo and his wife Janet of Narrowsburg and Anthony Calangelo and his companion Linda Dano of Syracuse. She was Nana to Erin Marie Roberts and Jessie Simmons of Livingston Manor; Claire King and Kristin McAloney of Greenwood LA; Brenda and Adrianna Calangelo of Narrowsburg and one more grandchild to come in April and great-grandmother to Rachel and Christopher of Greenwood LA and a great grandchild to come in July. "Pinky' was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Mary VanSteenburg of Turnwood, two brothers Donald and Edward VanSteenburg and one sister Kathryn Nonnenburg. She leaves behind one brother Douglas Van Steenburg of Margaretville and one sister Evelyn Sherman of Alamo, Texas. Family statement, " Our mother touched a lot of hearts. She was "Aunt Pinky' or "Pinky the Cake Lady" to a great many people. She was kind, gentle person with an easy smile, quick sense of humor and a shoulder to lean on. She supported her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors. As her children, we are truly blesed. We love you mom and will miss you dearly." Brian Scott Maliga a retired Corrections Officer of Mountaindale died Friday November 4, 2005 at Ellenville Regional Hospital. He was 43. He was the son of Robert M. and Barbara Decker Maliga. He was born August 19, 1962 in Monticello, NY. Brian was a retired corrections officer for the Sullivan Correctional Facility where he worked from 1981 to 1998. He was a member of FASNY, the Fallsburg Chief Association.He was a a member and a past chief of the Mountaindale Fire Company and a member, a past Captain and Past President of the Mountaindale First Aid Squad. Survivors include his loving wife Gina Maliga who is at home, his mother Barbara Maliga of Mountaindale, 2 brothers Robert Maliga also of Mountaindale ; Joseph Maliga of Ontario , NY and 1 sister Deborah Yagianey of Long Island and his beloved German Sheperd Tasha Bunny. He is predeceased by his father Robert Michael Joseph Maliga. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 pm, Saturday November 5th and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Sunday November 6th. Stephanie L. Costa of Woodbourne died Sunday November 20, 2005 at home. She was 27. She was the daughter of John and Eileen Fuller Costa. She was born November 8, 1978 in Harris, NY. Stephanie was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and received her Masters of Music at the East Carolina University, She was a Piano Pedigee, and worked at the Fishkill Health Center in Beacon, New York as the Activities Director and Music Therapist. She was a member of the American Music Therapy Assoc. and the Grahamsville Dutch Reformed Church where she was also the Choir Director. Survivors include her Parents John and Eileen Costa and her sister Allison who are at home. Her paternal grandmother Helen Costa of Middletown and her maternal grandfather Eugene Fuller and his wife Frances of Grahamsville. Her aunts and uncles Laurence Costa, Joseph and Deborah Costa, Victoria Costa, Kathleen Donelli and her husband John, Steve Fuller and his wife Cindy, Glen Fuller and his wife Wendy and many cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday November 22, 2005 from 7 to 9 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne. Peter F. Marchino, of Willowemoc, entered into rest on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at home. He was 80. The son of Ernesto and Linda Boggio Marchino he was born on March 25, 1925 in Schenectady, New York. Family Statement: Peter was a good, humble, and, honorable man. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Peter was a hardworker and never let any disability slow him down. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Ida at home; two sons, Richard and his wife Jan of Roscoe; Ernie and his wife Jean of Monticello; and two Granddaughters, Lisa Marchino of Jeffersonville and Amy Marchino of Liberty. Raymond W. Gilkey, of Woodridge, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 84. The son of Royal and Eunice Jackson Gilkey, he was born on November 11, 1920 in Binghamton, New York. Raymond was a United States Army Veteran who served his country during WW II and was a Captain in the Reserves. He then obtained his Master's Degree and became an Industrial Arts Teacher. He was employed at Kingston High School where he retired in 1979. After his retirement, and because of his love of farming, especially beef farming, Raymond bought his own farm and named it Glen Wild Beefalo Farm. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodridge. Survivors include his wife, Lillian at home; one son, Raymond of the State of Washington; two daughters, Dr. Alicia Bertone of Columbus, Ohio; Gail Gilkey of Rhode Island; one stepdaughter, Lynn Buchman of Mountaindale; five Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. Henry McGlynn a retired Printer of Neversink, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 81. The son of James and Anita McBride McGlynn, he was born on March 21, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. A US Navy veteran, Henry served his country during WWII. He was also a member of the Elks Club in Ellenville and Napanoch; the American Legion in New York City; he was a Quarter Master at the VFW of Neversink; and he enjoyed working bingo. The daughter of Carlo and Vita Nania Regina, she was born on March 03, 1937 Brooklyn, New York. Vita was a sports lover. An avid Mets fan, she played for many years on local soft ball teams and belonged to various bowling leagues. She was inducted into the Tri-State Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1984. Vita leaves behind her loving husband, John at home; one son, John, Jr.; two brothers, Dominick Regina and his wife, Jane; Salvatore Regina, and his wife, Laraine; one sister, Maria Frangipane and her husband, Al; six nieces and nephews, Donna Siegal and her husband, Barry; Nick Frangipane and his fiance, Beth Klotz; Denise Frangipane and her fiance, Bill Palmer; Claudia Dietz and her husband, Gerard; Kristy Gonsher and her husband, Allan; and Maria Santoro; three Grand Nieces and Five Grand Nephews. Edward "Ed" James Pepper a longtime resident of the area, died suddenly on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at home. He was 82. The son of the late Norman and Jenny McCourt Pepper, he was born on June 24, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York. Ed served in the United States Marine Corp. as a Corporal from 1943 - 1946. He lived in Long Island for many years and had many occupations. He was a professional window washer for the skyscrapers in New York City, an animal trainer in which he trained animals for television commercials and parades; a horseshoer; he was an avid skater and worked at Skater's World Rollerink in Ferndale, New York and his latest occupation was as maintenance staff at the Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, NY. He also owned and operated the Haywire Ranch in Woodbourne, NY as well as making appearances on the television shows,"What's My Line;" "The Betty Crocker Show;" and "Strike It Rich." Family Statement: Dad worked every day of his life. No matter how sick he felt or how bad the weather was, he went to work. Work kept him young. He was an avid horseback rider and was very proud to be able to ride any horse. He will always be remembered as he rode tall in the saddle. Everything he knew about horses, he passed onto his daughter Jeanne. She will always remember some of his last words which were, "Hold on tight, Jeanne." Dad had a phenomenal memory and told endless stories every time you saw him. He was a best friend to his children and many times he went without so that his children would be alright. He leaves behind his loving children, Susie Worrell of Rhode Island; Jeanne Kern of Neversink, NY; and Edward Pepper, Jr.; one brother, Norman Pepper of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Alice Hermann and Maureen Mullins, also of Long Island, NY; None Grandchildren; and Five Great-Grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother, Ronald Pepper; and one daughter, Carolyn Hanna. Robert Lew of Mountaindale, died suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2006 at home. He was 54. The son of Bernard and Bethia Lubitz Lew, he was born on December 31, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University in Long Beach, California, and was employed as a Maintenance Director for the Renaissance Project in Ellenville, New York. He was a proprietor of B. Lew Plumbing; a partner and manager of an apartment complex in Monticello, NY; and proprietor of Jokers Tavern & Restaurant in Mountaindale. Bob was a member of the National Honor Society of PHI KAPPA PHI and loved to volunteer for the Big Brother Organization. Survivors include, his parents, Bernard and Beth of Mountaindale; one step-daughter, Nicole Yuhas; one brother, Benson Lew and his wife, Fern of Great Neck, LI; three nieces, Gypsy Notov-Lew; Laura Adamo; and April Adamo. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale Cemetery, Moutaindale. Rabbi Irwin Goodman will officiate. Marie was the daughter of Thomas Joseph and Margaret Westfall Smith. She was born March, 17, 1914 in Youngsville. She was the widow of John J. Gleason Jr. Who died in 1979. She was a Communicant of St. Aloysius Church. Survivors include one son Brian M. Gleason of Livingston Manor, one brother Alfred E. Smith of Cobleskill, NY and two sisters Catheryn Baker of Livingston Manor and Evelyn Perraudin of S. Burlington, VT, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Wednesday August 2, 2006 in St. Aloysius Church, Church Street Livingston Manor. Delia Jayadevi Grigsby, of Fallsburg, and an Administrative Assistant for the SYDA Foundation, died suddenly on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 49. The daughter of Walter and Mandy Norris, she was born on March 2, 1958 in Hollywood, California. Family statement: Delia attended school in New Jersey, and went on to earn an Associates Degree and presently working on her Bachelors Degree in Accounting. She was a very dedicated volunteer for the SYDA Foundation for many, many years. Most of all Delia was an incredible mother, she always made sure that children were always welcome in her home, hence the name "the meeting place." She and Emily and Emily's friends were always busy going somewhere or doing something. Delia leaves behind her husband of 23 years, Tony at home; one daughter, Emily also at home; her father, Walter Grigsby of Germany; her mother, Mandy Norris of New Mexico; one sister, Dinah Matchael and her husband, Kent of New Mexico; and one niece, Holly also of New Mexico.
