Celia Frisch, a recent resident of Wurtsboro, formerly of Tarrytown, NY and also Blauvelt, NY entered into rest on November 29, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 87 years old. The daughter of the late Nathan and Annie Bolanzy Hirschorn, Celia was born December 27, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts. Celia was an accomplished musician and teacher who achieved her first radio show at the age of 14. Her career extended to the "Boston Pops" with Leonard Bernstein, The New York Philharmonic and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Celia was President of Myra Music Publishing Company for the past three decades, and was a member of the "American Music Publishers," "ASCAP," "The Harry Fox Agency," "CMRRA," and the Ethical Society of Westchester. Her true love was teaching music, which she began as a teenager and continued with chamber music to the present day. Her love of life and learning truly showed in everything she accomplished. Celia's talent and intellect have preceded her throughout her life and was recognized by Marquis "WHO'S WHO." Her loving husband, musician and songwriter Albert T. Frisch, who wrote and published many classics such as "Two Different Worlds," "This Is No Laughing Matter," "I Won't Cry Anymore," and the Honeymooner's theme song, "My Love Song to You" predeceased her. Celia's daughter Myra J. Frisch-Bennett and her husband Gregg, her two grandchildren Seth and Samantha Bennett of Mountaindale, her sister, Dena Kissin, and her husband, Kenneth and their children, Barry, Gale and Jody, her niece, Barbara Tractenberg and her nephew, Jack Trautenberg, cousins Norman and Barbara Checkoway, and countless friends survive her. Her music and our memory of her will forever be remembered. She did it her way. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Edward Raymond "Eddie" Pilny

Edward Raymond Pilny, "Eddie," a lifelong resident of the area , died on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87. The son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Pilny, he was born on July 17, 1920 in White's Crossing, PA. He was the widower of Helen J. Pilny. Edward was a United States Army World War II Veteran, having served as a medic in the 304th Medical Battalion of the 79th Infantry Division. He was the proprietor of Eddie's Famous Foods in South Fallsburg and Jeffersonville; a past member of the Fallsburg Fire Department; the Fallsburg Lion's Club; and a charter member of the Split Rock Hunting Club in Equinunk, PA. Survivors include: his daughter, Diane Boyce and her husband, James of Roscoe; two grandsons, Michael J. Boyce of Worcester, MA; John P. Boyce of San Diego, Calif.; his brother-in-law, Eugene Jaczynski of Old Bridge, NJ; his two sister-in-laws, Jeanne Subliskey of Clark, NJ; Wanda Guresh of Hilliard, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Pilny; four brothers, Joseph, Andrew, John, and Bernard; and six sisters, Marta, Helene, Kate, Marie, Ann, and Antoinette. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 7 to 9 PM at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42, Woodbourne, NY. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Monticello, NY. Genevieve "Bessie"Ward, of Livingston Manor, died on Saturday, December 08, 2007 at Westchester Medical Center, after a short illness. She was 83. The daughter of Floyd E. and Lillian A. Ferguson Helms, she was born on August 25, 1924 in Long Eddy, New York. She was the widow of Joseph M. Ward. Survivors include: one sister, Florence Welch; her extended family, two nieces, Beth Sanabria; and Virginia Woods; three nephews, Avery J. Welch; Richard Welch; and Roy Lackey, Jr.; one great niece, Alicia Sanabria; six great nephews, Lionel Sanabria, Jr.; Kyle, James, Brian, Allen, and Thomas Lackey all of Livingston Manor. She was predeceased by her brothers, and sisters, one nephew, Anthony Lackey and one great nephew, Kelly Lackey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12th from 2 to 4 PM at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor. Services will follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Thomason will officiate. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Thomas J. Zuewsky of Woodbourne, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2007 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side at the age of 51. The son of Stanley and Antoinette Gut Zuewsky, he was born on April 08, 1956 in Queens, New York. As a young man, Tom joined the Mountaindale Fire Department and went through the consecutive ranks in the department, such as First Assistant Chief, First Engineer, EMT and Honorary Chief. He later joined Woodbourne Fire Company #1, where he achieved the ranks of life member and Honorary Chief. He retired from the Woodbourne Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer of 25 years in 2003. He then obtained his Master Electrician License and started a new profession with his own company which he called TKA Electric, named after his precious children, Thomas, Kassi and Alexa. He also served as a board member for the Fallsburg Central School District for two terms, and became very active in getting Pop Warner Football started for the district again. Being an avid outdoor lover, he was the founder and president of the Flat Landers Hunting Club, which he wanted to establish for his son, he also had a compassion for ice fishing. He enjoyed it so much. Tom had many passions and accomplishments in life, but the most important and proudest accomplishment was when he became a father. Tom was very greatful for the title that was given to him and he not only held great respect for being a father, but he was a true, loving, patient, devoted and most exceptional hands on "DAD" there was. He always put his children first. He always made sure he was very active in his children's life and loved them like no father could. Kelly was very proud of Tom obtaining his Master Electrician License and having a new profession and the way he raised his children. Tommy leaves behind his loving wife, Kelly at home; his three most precious angels, Thomas, Kassi and Alexa, also at home; his mother, Antoinette Zuewsky of Long Island; three sisters, Victoria Sobotka; Annette Cassara and her husband, Joseph all of Long Island; Elaine Zuewsky of Westchester; three devoted nephews, Joey, Jr.; and Vinny Cassara and Christopher Sobotka ; one niece, Nicole Cassara; his father and mother in law, Martin and Frances Kotler of Rock Hill; devoted sister in law, Marcy Kotler; and brother in law, Kevin Kotler and many many other relatives and loved ones. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, New York. Firematic services will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42, Woodbourne. Fr. John Lynch will officiate. Interment will follow at the Luna Organization Cemetery, Rock Hill.

Florence H. Whittaker of Woodbourne, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. She was 91. The daughter of the late Walton and Fannie Smith Hamilton, she was born on October 15, 1917 in Grahamsville, New York. Flo was employed for the Fallsburg Central School System as a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of the Grahamsville Reformed Church, a charter member of the Woodbourne Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Woodbourne First Aid Squad, a 60 year member of the Eastern Star and a past member of the Woodbourne Reform Church. She leaves behind her loving husband, Al, whom she married on October 18, 1941, at home; one son, Charles and his wife Dianne of Atlanta; one daughter-in-law, Jean Whittaker of Point Pleasant, NJ; three grandchildren, Nathan H. and his wife, Linda; David and his wife, Allison and Karen Laritzen and her husband, Keith and four great grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Whittaker and Ty and Megan Laritzen. Flo was predeceased by one son, Robert Whittaker. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2008 at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Ruter will officiate. Interment will be held at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.

Cecilia Mary Rottkamp Rutkowski

Cecilia Mary Rottkamp Rutkowski of Grahamsville, passed on to eternal life surrounded by her loving family on January 3, 2009 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 68 years of age. The daughter of the late John E. and Wilma J. Flieger Rottkamp, she was born on October 7, 1940 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, NY. She graduated with Honors from Bishop McDonald High School in Brooklyn, NY in 1958. After graduation, she was employed by Grummond Air Force Base on Long Island. On October 17, 1959, Cecilia married Alex Rutkowski at St. Joaquim and Ann Church in Queens Village, NY. They were married for 21 years and have four children, Stephen, Susan, Paul and Rick who love and cherish her dearly and who will never forget the unselfish love she shared with them. Her professional career included 27 years of service at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. Beginning her career as a Unit Secretary, Cecilia then moved to Nursing Administration, and later was promoted to Director of Personnel in 1981. In 1989, Cecilia held her final position as Administrator at Catskill Regional. Cecilia completed her Bachelor's of Art and Master's of Business Administration, earning a 4.0 average, from Long Island University. Cecilia was widely recognized for excellence in both her academic and professional pursuits. She was highly respected by her colleagues and cherished by her friends and those who loved her. A woman of deep faith, Cecilia was a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Woodbourne. She was incredibly devoted to her family, evidenced by the love she shared with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. One example of this love was when she saved her sister Dottie's life by donating her bone marrow to her. Her legacy will include the traditions she valued, which will now be passed on and maintained by her family. Cecilia's memory will be cherished by her loving children, Stephen and his wife, Georgette of Simsbury, CT; Susan and her husband, Joao of Belmont, MA; Paul and his wife, Liz of Phoenix, AZ; and Rick of Goshen, NY as well as her grandchildren, Isabella, Stephen, Justin, Wesley and Payton. She is also survived by her sister and dear friend, Dottie Gruenfelder and her husband, Bob of Grahamsville, NY; her brothers, John Rottkamp and his wife, Carmel of Levittown, NY; Raymond Rottkamp of Glen Cove, NY; her aunt and uncle, Bob and Eileen Flieger; and her aunt Dorothea Flieger. Her love will remain in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Lisa Malone and her husband, Tom; Christy Hernandez and her husband, Pedro; John Rottkamp and his wife, Susan; Bob Rottkamp; Kelly Carey and her husband, Tom; Kim Haxton and her husband, Jim; and Megan Rottkamp. Her beloved cat, Greasy will miss her dearly. She is also survived by many loving cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42, Woodbourne, NY. Clifton C. Martin of Grahamsville, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 84. The son of the late Clifton and Marjorie Taylor Martin he was born in Long Branch, NJ on December 08, 1924. Clifton served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed as a driver for Trailways where he retired and enjoyed watching sports as he was a Giants fan. Clifton leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Helen at home; one son, Matthew Martin and his wife, Susana of Mongaup Valley; four daughters, Nancy Parks of Swan Lake, Laurel Shader and her husband, Karl of Louisiana; Jennifer Thomas and her husband, Kevin of Port Ewen; Kathleen Atkins and her companion, Jodi Westphal of Livingston Manor; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty, NY with full military honors. Helen E. Sabinsky of Loch Sheldrake died on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 86. The daughter of the late Stella and John Sereda, she was born in Ellenville, NY on April 09, 1922. She was the widow of Joseph M. Sabinsky. Helen was a life member of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; the Loch Sheldrake Senior Citizen; and a charter member of the Loch Sheldrake Ambulance Corp. Mom enjoyed art and oil painting, ceramics, sewing, gardening and the Catskill Art Society, but what she enjoyed most was working along with her husband of 50 years in the family business which is still being run by their son, Bruce. She was a true home maker always being there especially for her husband and their sons in every aspect, her father and sisters as well as the whole family. Survivors include two sons, Bruce Sabinsky and his wife Marge of Loch Sheldrake; James Sabinsky of Springfield, NJ; four grandchildren, Megan Guy, Carolyn, Taylor and Ryan Sabinsky; three great-grandchildren, Trevor, Joseph and Lillie; and one sister, Kathryn Draganchuk. She was predeceased by on son, Thomas; one grandson, Brian; and two sisters, Mary Sereda and Anna Noval. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42, Woodbourne at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne. Memorial Contributions in Helen's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, New York 12401.

Freda Wolcott of Livingston Manor, New York, passed away on December 07, 2008 at the Mountainside Residential Care Nursing Home. She was 93. The daughter of the late Andrew and Minnie Hubbert Fries, she was born on September 17, 1915 in Shandelee, New York. She was the widow of Howard Wolcott. Family Statement: Freda loved gardening, and canning, enjoyed fishing and baking and cooking for various Church organizations, but most of all she was a great Mom. She was very proud of her work and family. Survivors include her four children, Ronald Wolcott and his wife, Maria; William Wolcott and his wife, RoseMarie; Robert Wolcott and his wife, Brenda all of Livingston Manor; James Wolcott and his wife, Sandy of Florida; 14 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy and Myrtle and three brothers, Austin, Rudy and Ralph. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Francis Waite, officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, New York.
