Agnes P. Edwards
Homemaker, 59

Agnes P. Edwards of Chester, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 59 years of age.
The daughter of the late LeRoy and Gertrude McGrady Conklin, she was born January 10, 1941, in Southfields.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Edwards, at home; two sons, Carl Edwards II of Bloomingburg and John Edwards of Chester; four daughters, Wendy Joyce of Franklin, N.J., Carol Moody-Baird of Chester, Lisa Zaccagnino of Montgomery and Carla Damiano of Goshen; two brothers, Thomas Kyles and LeRoy B. Conklin, both of Chester; four sisters, Mary Williams of Hillsboro, Kans., Joan Edwards of Monroe and Virginia Smith and Carol Doremus, both of Chester; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James D. Ernest officiating.
Burial will be made in the Chester Cemetery in Chester.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tucker Center for Cancer Care, c/o Horton Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. 10940.

Donovan C. Hart
Porter, 27

Donovan C. Hart of Ellenville, a porter at the Nevele Grand in Ellenville and a nine-year area resident, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center. He was 27 years of age.
The son of Ralston and Beverly Miller Hart, he was born January 23, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica.
He is survived by his parents, at home; two brothers, Andrew Hart of Jamaica and Marvin Hart of Bloomingburg; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Brown of Philadelphia, Pa.; four uncles; an aunt; several cousins; and a host of family friends.
In a family statement, it was said, "May his soul rest in peace."
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ellenville United Methodist Church, Canal St., Ellenville.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Barbara Ibarra officiating.
Burial will be made in Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellenville United Methodist Church, Canal Street, Ellenville, N.Y. 12428.

Josephine Weygant
Homemaker, 73

Josephine Weygant of Liberty, a homemaker, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Tina Rizzo, she was born October 6, 1926, in Danbury, Conn. She was the widow of Thomas Weygant.
Mrs. Weygant is survived by three sons, Thomas Weygant of Washingtonville, James Weygant of Middletown, and Anthony Weygant; two daughters, Josephine Weygant of Newburgh and Amanda Weygant of Woodbourne; a sister, Rose Leechow of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Sam Rizzo, and a sister, Mary Alton.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty, on Friday from noon to 1 p.m.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Nadelen officiating.
Interment will be made in Liberty Cemetery in Liberty.

Bernard L. Levine
Attorney, 78

Bernard L. "B'laib" Levine of Monticello, an attorney in Monticello and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late Jacob Abraham and Anna R. Samuelson Levine, he was born May 26, 1921, in Hurleyville.
Mr. Levine was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Active in the Jewish community, he was a member of Landfield Avenue Synagogue, a past president of Congregation Ahavath Israel in Liberty, a charter member of B'nai B'rith, a past chairman of the United Jewish Appeal and an associate member of the Israel Medical Association. Mr. Levine was also a member and past president of the Sullivan County Bar Association, an honorary trustee of Community General Hospital, a member of the Century Club for Boys Scouts of America, and a member of the American Arbitrator's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Ott Levine, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan A. and Judy Levine of Liberty; a daughter and son-in-law, Ena R. and Yoram Haase of Plainview; a brother, Lazarus Levine of Liberty; a sister, Beatrice Bergman of New York City; five grandchildren, Jared, Jeffery and Jason Levine, Noa Tal and Sharon Haase; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Gilman, and three brothers, Milton, Hyman and Solomon Levine.
Services were held Thursday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irving Goodman officiating.
Burial was made in Congregation Ohave Sholem (Woodridge Synagogue) Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Edward W. Warter
Licensed Engr., 75

Edward Wilson Warter of White Lake, a licensed professional engineer who retired in 1980 from New York Telephone Company, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Princeton Nursing Home in Princeton, N.J. He was 75 years of age.
He was born in Newark, N.J.
Mr. Warter received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and attended Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in New York.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former scoutmaster for the Boys Scouts of America in Camillus.
A veteran of World War II, he was discharged in November 1945 from the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being discharged December 1957 from the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Warter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eunice Freer Warter of White Lake; three daughters and sons-in-law, Scharma and Gerald Picard of Lawrenceville, N.J., Elizabeth and Keith Wadsworth of Pinrceton, N.J., and Laura and Robert Deschambeault of Loudon, Tenn.; two sons, Ronald E. Warter of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Sanford L. Warter of Greenwood Lake; two sisters and their husbands, Patricia and Edward Luke of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., and Jeanne and Richard Dittrich of Liberty and Hollywood, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Kimble Funeral Home in Princeton, N.J.
A private memorial service will be held in Liberty at a later date.
Interment was made in Liberty.

Elizabeth Herzog
Homemaker, 92

March 21, 2000 -- Elizabeth Herzog of Liberty, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at her home. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Helen McNamara Keeley, she was born December 19, 1907, in New York City.
Mrs. Herzog was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter T. and Barbara Herzog, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Eric Reising of Swan Lake; three grandchildren, Walter and Jon Herzog and Zachariah Reising.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd. Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Sonia B. Gelman
Homemaker, 90

Sonia Berlinsky Gelman of Emerson, N.J., died Saturday, March 11, 2000. She was 90 years of age.
Born in Kiev, Russia, Mrs. Gelman came to America in 1922, settling in the Bronx. She was the widow of Irving Gelman.
Mrs. Gelman is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene G. and Eugene Maimin of Fair Lawn, N.J.; two sons, and a daughter-in-law, Bernard and Anne Gelman of Roscoe and Robert Gelman of Plantation, Fla.; four grandchildren, Dr. Marc Gelman, Randi Gelman, Diana Maimin and Lisa Maimin; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Gelman.
Services were held last Tuesday at the Louis Suburban Chapel in Fair Lawn, N.J.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Association of the Deaf, 814 Thayer Ave., Silver Spring, Md. 20910.

Paul I. Wilcox, 58

Paul I. Wilcox of Roscoe, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home. He was 58 years of age.
The son of the late Irving E. and Florence Stadel Wilcox, he was born December 17, 1941, in Middletown.
A graduate of Paul Smiths College in Paul Smiths, N.Y., he was an avid reader and outdoorsman. He was previously associated with the family business, I.E. Wilcox Trucking Company in Roscoe.
He is survived by two cousins, Linda Cortright and her husband, Alan, of Roscoe, and Laura Moore of Inglis, Fla.
Services were held Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Burial was made in the Beaverkill Cemetery in Beaverkill.

Rudolph H. Tessmer
Retired Welder, 79

Rudolph H. Tessmer of Yulan, a retired welder for the Flying Tigers and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at the Horton Memorial Medical Center in Middletown. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Herman and Lillian Modest Tessmer, he was born October 17, 1920, in Richmond Hill, Queens.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Tessmer was a member of the Tusten-Highland Memorial Post #6427, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Narrowsburg, president of the Highland Senior Citizens, a member of the Lumberland Senior Citizens, AARP and the Queensboro Masonic Lodge #892, F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Tessmer, at home; two sons Charles Tessmer of Brewster and R.J. Tessmer of Michigan; two daughters, Sue Lass of Old Bridge, N.J., and Irene Andujar of Kingsburg, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville with the Rev. Linda Bohs officiating.
Interment was made in Montoza Cemetery in Barryville.
