William A. Fraser, 69
Ret. Hvy. Equip. Oper.

William A. Fraser of Ferndale, a retired heavy equipment operator for George Asthalter Company of Liberty and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Russell and Pansy Hodge Fraser, he was born March 16, 1930, in Liberty. He was the widower of Betty J. Fraser who died December 5, 1999.
An eight-year veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1952 to 1960 with the 33rd Infantry Reg., 3rd Bn. L. Co. Mr. Fraser was an active member of the Clarence Hoyt Post #9217, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Liberty.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, William B. Fraser of Concord, Calif., Robert and Nancy Fraser of Ferndale and Daniel and Vanessa Fraser of South Fallsburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Stephen Prohaska of Johnstown and Karen and Odd Saetran of Center Moriches; two brothers, Richard Fraser of Arlington, N.J., and John Fraser of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Liberty Free Methodist Church in Liberty with the Rev. David McCarthy and the Rev. Donald Baker officiating.
Burial was made in Fraser Cemetery in Ferndale.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarence Hoyt Post #9217, VFW, Liberty, N.Y. 12754, or to the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. 10595.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Virginia P. Weeks
Homemaker, 71

Virginia P. "Ginny" Weeks of Liberty died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at her home. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late George C. and Estella Decker Smith, she was born December 12, 1928, in Walden. She was the widow of James Weeks.
She is survived by a son, Barry James Bulson of Campbell; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George F. Smith of the Town of Newburgh; two sisters, Florence Lynch of Newburgh and Joyce Amundsen of Wallkill; a niece and nephew, Tina and Dale Long with whom she resided, and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William N. Smith, and a sister, Blanche Lanford.
Services were held Saturday at the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home in Newburgh with Pastor John Capen officiating.
Burial was made in Friends Cemetery in Plattekill.

Ernest Johnson, 86
Ret. Beer Distributor

Ernest Johnson of South Fallsburg, a lifetime area resident, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Billy and Mary Johnson, he was born September 14, 1913, in Uniontown, Ala.
Mr. Johnson was a retired employee of the Boiling Beer Company, distributing beer from a truck for 19 years.
He is survived by his companion, Fannie Davis of South Fallsburg; four brothers, Jonnie, William and Jessie Johnson of Uniontown, Ala., and Andrew Johnson; five sisters, Clara, Reeva, Correine and Mabel of Uniontown, Ala., and Rosie; a niece, Lena Witherspoon, her children and grandchildren; a nephew, Charlie Tate, his children and grandchildren; two nephews-in-law, Clarence Witherspoon and James Green; and many more nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Services were held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in South Fallsburg with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Burial was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

John C. Sherwood
Ret. Truck Driver, 79

John C. Sherwood of Roscoe, a retired truck driver and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late John O. and Eva L. Brown Sherwood, he was born November 29, 1920, in Parksville.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Sherwood was a member of the Floyd Keener Post #315, American Legion, in Roscoe, and a member of Local #445 in Newburgh.
He is survived by five sons, William P. Sherwood of Cape Coral, Fla., Merton L. Sherwood of South Fallsburg, John L. Sherwood of Roscoe, Donald J. Sherwood of Columbus, Ohio, and Arnold A. Sherwood of Downsville; three daughters, Polly P. Phillips of Florida, N.Y., Ruth E. Sherwood of St. Augustine, Fla., and Sandy S. Kiakis of Roscoe; a sister, Fay Heisler of Kerhonkson; 30 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Orsell T. Sherwood, two sisters, Eva Hoyt and Louisa Foote, and two brothers, Orsell and Lewis Sherwood.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, with the Rev. H.M. Fargo officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P.O. Box 7E, East Syracuse, N.Y. 13057.

Edna R. Rosenberg
Ret. Clerk/Typist, 89

Edna R. Rosenberg of Mountaindale, a lifelong area resident and a retired clerk/typist for New England Life Insurance Company in Boston, Mass., died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Samuel and Sophie Rosenberg Ratner, she was born October 12, 1910, in Mountaindale. She was the widow of Hyman Rosenberg to whom she was married for 61 years.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a devoted wife of 61 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister."
Mrs. Rosenberg is survived by two sons, Stewart Rosenberg of South Fallsburg and Lloyd Rosenberg of Burlington, Mass.; a sister, Lillian Jacobs of Mountaindale; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountaindale Synagogue, Main St., Mountaindale with Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb officiating.
Burial will be made in the Mountaindale Synagogue Cemetery in Glen Wild.

John H. Wells
Concrete Precaster, 36

John H. Wells of Neversink, a precaster of concrete products for Miron Concrete in Liberty and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, March 17, 2000, in Napanoch as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was 36 years of age.
The son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Bauernfeind Wells, he was born October 10, 1963, in Liberty.
An avid bowler, Mr. Wells was a member of the Wednesday Night Bowling League at Liberty Lanes in Liberty.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Cox of Liberty; his wife, Debra Lepke Wells, two sons, Johnathan and Matthew Wells, and two daughters, Mary Beth and Katrina Wells, all at home; three brothers, Richard Cox of California, Ronald Cox of Illinois and Robert Cox of North Carolina; and 13 other brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Francis Waite officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd., Liberty.

Greta K. Wickman, 92
Ret. From Psych Center

Greta K. Wickman of Middletown, a retired employee of the Middletown Psychiatric Center, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Erik and Gerda Gortz Kall, she was born September 3, 1907, in Halmstead, Sweden. She was the widow of Carl J. Wickman.
Mrs. Wickman was a member of CSEA, AARP and a former volunteer at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan W. Morse of Rock Hill; four grandchildren and their spouses, Emerson A. III and Peggy Morse of Ghent, Carl D. and Janet Morse of Westbrookville, Thomas and Debra Morse of Wolf Lake and Kelly M. and Craig Buchman of Rock Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Adam C. Morse and his wife, Jennifer, Emerson A. Morse IV, Kimberley, Erik A., Amanda, Ashley and Brittney Morse, Melinda Buchman and Melissa Williamson; a great-great-grandson, Andrew Morse; and cousins in Sweden.
Services were held Saturday at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown with Erik Blahut officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Thomas W. VanHorn
Sub-Contractor, 34

Thomas W. VanHorn of Eldred, a sub-contractor for Martell Home Builders in Sparrowbush and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 34 years of age.
The son of James and Lee Couch VanHorn, he was born March 1, 1966, in Port Jervis.
Mr. VanHorn was a member of the Sparrowbush Fire Department and a member of the Highland Lake Fire Department.
In a family statement, it was said, "Tom enjoyed hunting, his Harley and being with the people he loved the most, especially his son, TJ. He was loved by many and gave so much love to all that knew him."
He is survived by his wife, Fawn Hulse VanHorn, and a son, TJ Van Horn, both at home; his father; his mother and step-father, Lee and Clifford Space of Huguenot; two brothers, Clinton VanHorn of Matamoras, Pa., and James J. VanHorn of Huguenot; two sisters, Jamie Swingle of Sparrowbush and Dorothy VanHorn of Port Jervis; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Kantenwein officiating.
Burial will be made in Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

Robert E. Titsworth, 75
Ret. Hvy. Equip. Oper.

Robert E. Titsworth of Middletown, a retired heavy equipment operator for the New York State Department of Transportation in Middletown and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late Harry and Ella Liddle Titsworth, he was born October 15, 1924, in Stamford.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a past member of the Middletown Elks Lodge, a member of North Congregational Church in Middletown and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Hedges Titsworth, at home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Elaine and Lawrence Corkey of Rock Hill, Peggy and John Talmadge, Diane and John Parrella and Nancy Tits-worth; two sisters, Margaret Titsworth of Middletown and Virginia Bruce of Pine Bush; a brother, Charles Thompson of Carrolton, Tex.; seven granddaughters, Lisa Connolly and her husband, James, Jennifer Small and her husband, Marcus, Susan Corkey, Kelly Talmadge, Tracy Talmadge and Rebecca and Jessica Parrella, and a great-grandson, Marcus L. Small, all of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Herman Titsworth and Richard James Titsworth.
Services were held Saturday at the Morse Funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Tim Woodard officiating.
Burial was made in the Warwick Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Congregational Church, 157 Linden Ave., Middletown, N.Y. 10940.
