Clovis Giguere
Ret. Carpenter, 94

Clovis Giguere of Wurtsboro and Palm Bay, Fla., a retired carpenter, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 94 years of age.
The son of the late Charles J.U. and Jennifer Freschett Giguere, he was born May 10, 1906, in Tenafly, N.J.
He loved fishing in Canada at Wanahkish, near Ardberg, north of Perry Sound. Mr. Giguere also enjoyed reading, especially books written by Louis L’Amour.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gutekunst Giguere, at home; a son, John Giguere of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Claressa Foerch of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Eugenie Sayers of Fort Myers, Fla.; a stepson, Fred McGee of Wurtsboro; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Uleric Giguere and a sister, Cecile Henke.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, on Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Burial will be made in Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiology Dept., c/o Horton Healthcare Foundation, 60 Prospect Ave., Middletown, N.Y. 10940.

Robert M. Hayes
Ret. Carpenter, 74

Robert M. Hayes of Middletown, a retired carpenter for AHRC in Middletown and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late George B. and Emily F. Murray Hayes, he was born August 26, 1925, in Middletown.
A 1944 graduate of Middletown High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a member and past commander of American Legion Post #151 in Middletown. Mr. Hayes was also a 50-year member of the Excelsior Hook and Ladder Company.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Peggy" Redding Hayes, at home; three sons, Mark Hayes of Newburgh and Robert and Wayne Grassfield, both of Middletown; six daughters, Emily Hayes of New York State, Laura Mosso of Pine Bush, Linda Chappell of Middletown, Marjorie Grassfield of Bloomingburg, Kimberley Cassese of Bullville and Robin Cutler of Middletown; a brother, Richard Hayes and his wife, Jeri, of the state of Florida; 30 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Mike Hayes and Paul Grassfield, and a daughter, Tina Marie Hayes.
Following cremation, graveside services and burial were conducted by the American Legion Post #151 on Saturday in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #151, 185 Wawayanda Ave., Middletown, N.Y. 10940.

Donald C. Lupo
Ret. Businessman, 82

Donald C. Lupo of Tennanah Lake and St. Petersburg, Fla., a retired co-owner of Roseann Attires in New York City and a longtime area resident, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at his home in Tennanah Lake. He was 82 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph and Serafina Pezzino Lupo, he was born April 28, 1918, in Easton, Pa.
Mr. Lupo was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army 106th Station Hospital. He was a member of the Floyd Keener American Legion Post #315, in Roscoe. An avid golfer, bowler and reader, Mr. Lupo was an innovative businessman and contributed much to the success of Lupo's Tennanah Lake Inn.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Jaquez Lupo, at home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Bernard Heavey of Buffalo, Ann Lupo of Buffalo, and Sara-Jo and Jeremy Sites of Endicott; five grandchildren, Amy-Ann Vohnout, Jeffrey Heavey, Beth Cristoph, Margaret Sites and Abigail Sites; two great-grandchildren, Mickey Heavey and Bailey Cristoph; and many cousins, nephews and nieces, including Marianela Panagiotatos, her husband, Peter, and their children, Peter Jr. and Alexandria. He was predeceased by a daughter, Maria Lupo, and a grandson, Timothy Heavey.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.
Burial was made in Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverview Cemetery Maintenance Fund, Roscoe, N.Y. 12776.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.

Frank Lamantia
Machinist, 73

Frank Lamantia of Youngsville, a self-employed machinist, died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 73 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph and Pauline Lamantia, he was born August 7, 1926, in West Virginia.
A homing pigeon enthusiast, he was a member of the Maspeth Club.
Mr. Lamantia is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Guarnieri Lamantia, of New York City; four children and their spouses, Joseph and Jeanette Lamantia of Middletown, Paula Imbro of Pocono Heights, Pa., Jo-Ann and Dennis Diresta of Doraville, Ga., and Franca and Bob Cuccia of Hauppauge, L.I; two sisters, Mary and Rosemarie; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Frankie, Gina, Kristin, Carla, Anthony and Brianna; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
Interment was made in the family plot in a cemetery in Sullivan County.

Richard V. Cook, 66
Former Sales Director

Richard V. Cook of Flat Rock, Mich., a former resident of Liberty and sales director at Grossinger's Resort in the early '70s, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at his home after a long illness. He was 66 years of age.
He was the son of the late Fred and Fern Cook of Girard, Ill.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served on the USS Coral Sea. Mr. Cook spent most of his career in the food and beverage business.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Kelley and Dan Walerski of Gibralter, Mich., and Todd and Lisa Cook of Liberty; three grandsons, Michael, Andrew and Christopher, all of Liberty.
Following cremation, the cremains will be interred in the family plot in Girard, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Karmanos Hospice Program, 24601 Northwestern Highway, Southfield, Mich. 48075 or to the American Lung Association, 33 Orchard St., White Plains, NY 10603-9924.
Local arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Frederick King Jr.
Ret. Therapy Aide, 72

Frederick W. "Sonny" King Jr. of Forestburgh, a retired therapy aide at Middletown Psychiatric Center and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 72 years of age.
The son of the late Frederick W. Sr. and Gretel Miller King, he was born May 21, 1928, in Middletown.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
In a family statement, it was said, "Sonny was an outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman."
He is survived by two sons, Andre King of Middletown and Brian Dibble of Forestburgh; four daughters, Valerie King and Gretel King, both of Middletown, Rosilind King of Hollywood, Va., and Dawn F. King of Monticello; a brother, Rodney King of Middletown; three sisters, Leilani Hunter, Lorelie Merced and Pamela King, all of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Cremation was made at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.

Helen Griffin
Homemaker, 83

Helen Griffin of Liberty, a homemaker and a 15-year area resident, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at her home. She was 83 years of age.
The daughter of the late George A. and Ada Roach O'Brien, she was born February 26, 1917, in Philadelphia, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Griffin, at home; four sons, Gerald G. Griffin of Danbury, Conn., Thomas P. Griffin of Glen Cove, George Dennis Griffin of Warwick and Paul L. Griffin of Jeffersonville; two daughters, Eileen R. Relyea of Bayville, and Patricia Greer of Ringwood, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Leslie Siraco, Sean Griffin, Christine Griffin, Rene Relyea, Jeremiah Relyea, Martha Relyea and Carrie Slome and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Siraco and Avery Griffin.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, at The Meadows (former Recreation Farm) in Fosterdale, County Road 114.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

H. Leo Davidoff
Ret. Ford Dealer, 85

H. Leo Davidoff of Rock Hill, a lifelong Sullivan County resident and founder of Leo Davidoff Motors, the first Ford dealership in Monticello, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Delray Beach, Fla. He was 85 years of age.
The son of the late Manus and Annie Davidoff, founders of Davco Stores, he was born December 29, 1914.
Mr. Davidoff was an active leader in his community and extended his activities to politics, civic organizations and the Landfield Avenue Synagogue of which he was president from 1959-1961. He was a committeeman and officer of the Sullivan County Republican Committee and the Town of Thompson Republican Committee. Mr. Davidoff was a Commissioner of the NYS Alcohol and Beverage Commission for Sullivan County in 1966. He became Sullivan County's first Personnel Director and served for 13 years. That role led him to a second career as a labor negotiator, representing several towns and villages in Sullivan County.
A charter member of the Kiwanis Club in Monticello, organized in 1948, he served as president of the Rotary Club in 1973. Mr. Davidoff was also a member of the Masonic Order, a past Chancellor James Grogan Lodge #585 of the Knights of Pythias, a Royal Vizier of the El Fali Temple #110 (Dokies) and was named Outstanding Member in 1971.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Neil and Helen Davidoff, Michael and Kathy Davidoff, and Joy and James Finale; six grandchildren, Laura (Davidoff) Fox and her husband Brett, Adam Davidoff, Nathan Kroop and Amy, Carrie and Katie Davidoff; two sisters, Sylvia Green and Sarah Naimer; and a brother Abe Davidoff. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Davis.
Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 186 Broadway, Monticello, with Rabbi Irving Goodman officiating.
Burial will be made in the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County Hebrew Day School, Kiamesha Lake, NY 12751 or the charity of one's choice.

Carol A. Wallgren
Treatment Aide, 57

Carol A. Wallgren of Liberty, a treatment aide at the Sullivan Diagnostic Treatment Center in Harris and a 25-year area resident, died suddenly on Saturday, July 22, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 57 years of age.
The daughter of the late Vincent and Grace Bufano Landolphi, she was born August 24, 1942, in New York City. She was the widow of Wes Wallgren who died in 1981.
Mrs. Wallgren was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty.
She is survived by three sons, Wes Wallgren of Smallwood and Jack and Vincent Wallgren, both of Liberty; five daughters, Tina Soriano of Staten Island, Wendy Delpozzo of Plantation, Fla., Lisa Andryshak of Franklin, Tenn., Sonja Baez of Liberty and Yvonne Wallgren of North Arlington, N.J.; two brothers, William Landolphi of Dumont, N.J., and Richard Landolphi of Los Angeles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Vincent Landolphi.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's R.C. Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty.
